Well, would have fit into a two hour move much better than into a 10 hour show ...
This will be a comment from someone that was too young to see star trek first series :P
So
i enjoyed quite a lot this. Im also watching the Discovery Spin off
Must say that watching the Michelle Hurd here surprised me, wasnt expecting to see her side like this eheh
For me, i think all actours went really nice the way they interacted with each other, and the dialogues went really well
To finish, hope they make a second season at least, i suppose yes, because the end more or less left a open space for that. My bet will be 3 seasons and then no more. Im not a big fan of 10 seasons... ok ok ok Maybe for Fringe i would have enjoyed ehehhehe
Bring on season 2! This was great. Who would have thought that we would ever get back our old Star Trek adventurers.
I was expecting more from this show. Was really into the original Next Generation, so really happy to hear about this spin off and it is lovely to see some of the guest stars. Still not as good as expected.
Slowish start, good but not great… but Season 3 was worth a 20 year wait!
You can see how many seasons you've watched if you go to "ratings" on your profile, and then click "all types" and click "seasons"
I've seen 658 seasons of television shows, and this is is one of the worst i've ever seen.
It was utter torture getting through this season.
It helped watching the redlettermedia re-views of the episodes along with them. It helped a lot. It helped my sanity a lot.
The predecessor to this show, "Star Trek: The Next Generation" is one of the greatest shows of all time. This show, "Star Trek: Picard" is one of the worst of all time.
It is utter garbage in it's story and characters, utterly disrespectful to the art of storytelling, characterization, character development, and Star Trek as a whole.
It is one of the worst shows i've ever seen in my life. It was just utterly horrendous.
When the show came out, i heard mixed things. When i saw reviews, i knew it was garbage. Years later, i hear season 3 is good and respectful, which was a great shock. So i thought why not. Why not get through the terrible first two seasons, in order to experience the good third season. To experience something actually good from modern trek and respectful of what came before. I had heard that i didn't need to watch the first 2 seasons in order to understand the 3rd, but i thought that i would like to get more of the background information first, plus it's only 2 seasons of 10 episodes.
I don't know if i regret it. This season was just complete garbage and a travesty to the art of storytelling. A travesty to the art of writing. Imagine following up one of the greatest shows of all time with one of the worst.
Ordinarily i would have dropped this kind of garbage after a few episodes, but since i've trudged through the first season on my journey to the third, i'll trudge through the second too.
Plus, it's probably good sometimes to force yourself through terrible shows in order to learn from them and understand how bad they are, and not drop them too early. It might make you appreciate better shows in doing so as well. But you should definitely drop most of the bad ones early on, and spend more of your time consuming the better stuff that's out there.
Edit: IT'S WORTH IT GETTING TO SEASON 3, JUST STICK IT OUT.
This season has been bad IMHO, but the second is self-flagellation, for sure.
The Cylons were created by man. They evolved. They rebelled. There are many copies….err the Synths were created by man and they rebelled. Chasing Battlestar Galactica and Game of Thrones, Star Trek: Picard betrays Gene Roddenberry’s vision to deliver a generic sci-fi drama. When a Cylon, err organic android comes to Jean-Luc Picard, living in retirement on his vineyard, for help, he discovers that neurons from Commander Data are being used to create a new kind of android and puts together a crew to find the others like her; meanwhile a secret Romulan cabal abroad a captured Borg ship attempts to find the Synth homeworld. Alex Kurtzman’s Trek continues to force in needless profanity, sexual content, and gratuitous violence; betraying the family friendly tone of Roddenberry’s Trek and the evolved humanity and bright future that he envisioned. Several characters from previous Trek series are brought back to be pointlessly killed off, while others are used for pure fan service; usually to the detriment of their character. The writing is pretty bad, reworking the Trek universe to fit the demands of the plot, and padding episodes with subplots that go nowhere. Still, the actors all deliver solid performances and the special effects are especially well-done; making for some exciting action scenes and interesting character and set designs. While nearly unrecognizable as Star Trek, Season 1 of Star Trek: Picard is entertaining and explores some thought-provoking issues.

Fair show, but they didn't need to crap all over Gene Roddenberry's legacy and original concept like this.
