The Alpha Quadrant is plunged into war in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s sixth season. With the Dominion occupying Deep Space Nine, Kira and Odo decide to resurrect the resistance; meanwhile Captain Sisko and his crew carry out daring attacks against the Dominion with the Defiant. Additionally, Worf and Dax get married, Bashir attempts to help a group of genetically engineered misfits, and Quark comes to the aid of the Grand Nagus when he’s deposed. A rather eclectic season, Season 6 features some of the best episodes of the series (“In the Pale Moon Light”) and some of the worst (“Profit and Lace”). It also introduces several fan-favorite characters, including Holodeck lounge singer Vic Fontaine and Sector 31 secret agent Sloan, and kills off a main character (which Star Trek has never been good at). Yet while it has its problems and is uneven at times, Season 6 of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine doesn’t lack for ambition, and is incredibly entertaining and is full of thrills.
Another great season of DS9. This is more like a 26 hour feature. The quality is awesome and it´s a reminder of what can be accomplished in TV if given the chance. Shows like this don´t come/came often. I dare to say there is nothing on todays listing that can compare. If so I haven´t seen it, yet.
I´m almost reluctant to watch the next season knowing it´s the last one.

That's the best season of DS9. An almost continuous plot interrupted only by some well placed (and needed) interludes. Some say that shows like Sopranos made serialized shows popular and catapulted TV in its golden age. But after watching this sixth season you must also credit DS9.
There's only a couple of things I will always remember as bad decisions: the undignified Profit and Lace, the still strange Bashir, the pointless and poorly executed sudden exit of Jadzia Dax due to financial reasons. Jadzia's story should have ended in Change of Heart if Farrell's exit was inevitable. Yes, not every episode is a masterpiece but that's something you'd expect when you produce 25 episodes a year on a tight budget. There's a stretch towards the end with multiple mediocre episodes - a "drought" - but even most mediocre episodes are quite enjoyable. But, in hindsight, the season start includes several spectacular back to back episodes and makes you forget the mid-season "drought". And the best episodes of this season are masterpieces. Probably some of the best in the franchise. Totally deserved, In the pale Moonlight is considered by many fans among the best episodes of Star Trek ever. I agree. After watching the wonderful documentary What We Left Behind, I realized how important and unusual Far beyond the Stars really was. Over the years, this episode really grew on me like no other (In my personal ranking, only The Visitor showed a similar growth) It's like Brooks' legacy. No wonder he felt like retiring as an actor after DS9 has ended.
