This show reminded me of Chernobyl. I thought the finale would be more conclusive, but it was more open-ended and left to your imagination. I think the Shōgun was quite successful overall. I'm quite satisfied.

A befitting finale. I was hoping this episode would be an all out war episode , but as I finished watching it , I came to the realisation that an all out war would be contradicting the season so far. So happy how they ended it .

"Why tell a deadman the future?"

I couldn't have asked for a more fitting finale for this "piece of an art" mini-series. The bar was set high. It could've been either like the GoT finale or Breaking Bad finale. So glad they stayed consistent from start to finish. Undoubtedly, this ranks among the greatest miniseries ever produced.

Many people may be dissatisfied with the finale if they expected to watch an all-out war, which contradicts the entire idea of the show.

If last week's penultimate episode was the show's dramatic peak, this finale is an elegiac send-off, with Mariko's loss really felt by all (and which Jarvis beautifully conveys that throughout). Sanada and (especially) Asano are really in top form throughout, especially during that cliff's climatic conversation. Great series.

I originally thought that the war would be the main content of the last episode, but wouldn't it be nice to leave the process to our imagination? We know that Tokugawa Ieyasu won in history.
The conversation between Toranaga and Yabushige brings the spotlight back to Shogun, anyway this series is Shogun but not Anjin, it's a really fitting ending, looking forward to season 2
btw James Clavell has other 5 stories in Asian Saga, idk to see them on screen too:kissing_heart:

A beautiful conclusion to this limited series. A work of fantastic storytelling that I'm sure people will be talking about for a long time. Captivating from start to finish made this adaptation worthwhile.

Sad this is over - we really have had such a treat of talent coming together to tell a fantastic story.

I won't lie, I actually liked the previous episode more. It was a good ending, but it could have ended a bit further into the future, leaving the rest to our imagination isn't too much of a problem. I could listen to Lady Ochiba's speech for hours, she is magnificent. The conversation between Toranaga and Yabushige was really good too. Thank you for one of the best series of recent times. Here's hoping to see more productions that portray Japanese culture and history in such a high-quality manner...

I secretly wanted Fuji and Anjin to be together, I'm sorry Mariko-sama. (˘・_・˘)

One of the most captivating shows of the decade ended with this episode. I can’t sing Shogun enough praise. What an absolute masterpiece.

Maybe they’ll continue it, maybe they won’t. I know I’ll be following the crew to see what they do next.

A perfect finale, I'll admit I thought maybe we'd get a big battle to end things off (which would've been cool of course) but I love that this finale just stays in line with what the rest of the show has been, incredible dialogue, outstanding character moments and a score that brings out the emotions at the perfect time. That final scene was so touching too, seeing where Blackthrone started with that village / Toranaga and where he ended up with both of those things, beautiful

Loved it till e10 and that just felt like a let down

Season finale, although it ends similar to the previous one, here they open the door to a second part, while the other one was closed. Great series

What a series. It exceeded all my expectations. Amazing performance by all the talented individuals in this show.

If they ever make a live adaptation series of Cyberpunk 2077 I want to see Hiroyuki Sanada get casted as Goro Takemura.

As artfully as it was presented, as it has ended. I doubt we will need a season 2. The story is concluded in every way that is important. Our glimpse of Feudal Japan was short but thorough. I'm so impressed with the characters of Lord Toranaga and the Anjin, both having gone through much growth and allowed themselves to learn from each other and become allies.

I liked the overall series (although a bit slow at times) but this final episode wasn't of my liking. No battle, a lot of loose ends. We finally understood Toranaga's plan, but tbh, it wasn't as intelligent or cunning as it was teased in previous episodes. It left me with a weird aftertaste, like the is a missing episode or something. Anyway, it is still better than most of recent products in the series area. A strong 8 which could have been higher if it wasn't for the finale

Great miniseries.

I laughed, I cried, I was horrified, I was reverent throughout this season

This show took what is definitely a trope at this point (white guy in Asian countries) and sort of flips it on its head. Instead of being fed a false narrative about how crafty, or whatever, the European(s) are, we see them being manipulated to the end for the use of the natives and its only revealed at the end that the guy who you're led to think was special or important was just another clown for entertainment

Great finale, loved it. I know some people will be disappointed by lack of big battle scenes but then Shogun was never really about that.

Wasn’t really what I was expecting or wanted, but a fitting end to this masterpiece nevertheless. Such stunning character work and dialogue.

I think in the end what this show does really well is somehow show us the dynamics of their relationships with enough pacing to really let it sink in. The conversation and relationship between Blackthorne and Toranaga, Toranaga and Yabushige, and Fuji and Blackthorne was really satisfying to watch. All the actor's were so good. You could read everything in their face and it was awesome.
