When Otis found that letter from Maev and read it and they showed her wearing his shirt looking at the moon I fucking bawled my eyes out all through the credits, holy shit man this season has made me cry so freaking much.
If this were not the last season, I would have never finished it. This has been the most politically correct show I’ve ever watched, there are a lot of them these days. This season managed to weave in every culturally correct trope possible. Additionally, the season was very boring. May this season rest in peace.
Complete waste of time i really loved some things though like the arc of Adam's family and Aimee,Issac it was fantastic other than that almost nothing clicked for me . Especially the new additions the fake campus etc. They really made eric somewhat unlikable I don't know how but I really did not like them at all. Cal's was underwhelming and really surface level. Ruby's was really bad but she slayed though. Otis's mum and her sister's was ok I liked some part of it. Some of the other characters felt like they were just there for the runtime so anyway I really love the way this show have evolved but some things could have been better and I will certainly miss these wonderful characters. Even though most of them did not get solid ending the show is still good it is still worth a watch.
Sobbed my eyes out at Eric's mom being the only one to say she loves Eric as he is in the church and then harder still when God(?) told him: "you will change hearts and minds, and let everyone know that I love them for who they are. I made you this bright so that others would see in the darkness." I love that Eric and Otis are still best friends by the end and that they were dancing together in sync.
I will say though, Cal was literally on a cliff, seemingly considering taking their life because they don't feel like themselves and they don't feel like they're loved by others. The whole season, Cal's mom was trying to love them. Jean preaches therapy for her sister, Joanna, but Cal seriously need some mental health support, too. Top surgery will not resolve this imposter syndrome and I'm frustrated that this was left so open-ended.
Didn't like it that much but it was okay for a final season I guess. As others have mentioned I would've liked it more if it focused more on the main characters instead of the new ones.
Also can we please have a spin-off with ADAM?!
We reached Sex Education's ending and i cannot avoid to felt sad. The ending was bitter-sweet; giving a lot of focus on side characters or side of the side characters, and, to my taste, not enough on our main ones.
Adam's healing with his father is beautiful, same as seeing the character development on Michael's. The side stories of Jackson and Viv were not engaging enough for me; in fact i found them boring and slow; but i guess those two where some of the topics that weren't still approched in the series until now. Ruby's development actually felt like a downgrade from S3 which is weird considering she became a favourite. Here, even tho I may have related to what she was going through, my feelings for her character felt to what everyone felt on the first couple of episodes. The whole drama with Jane and Joanna also found it unncessary, but i guess that it was necessary as filler for the plot. Aimee's and Isaac's story, altough i didn't like Isaac in S3, was appropiate and didn't mind at all. All the new chracters, tbh, i didn't give a fuck. I just felt them as fillers for Ruby's friends, Ola and Lilly; which they didn't return this season. For Otis and Eric, i just loved those two. They showed a kind of brotherhood that very few times i have seen between two actors in any series or movies. And as for Otis and Maeve, as i said, bitter-sweet ending. It was the right move for Maeve, but one can't help to feel sad that they didn't end up together. Usually, the audience reads a book, watch a movie or a series, or play a videogame to escape a little bit from reality. And it may be cheesy, it may be overused, but deep down we always want to everything work out for everyone. And when the ending doesn't fullfil (even if when it does, we are also accustomed to say "typical, the ending was obvious"), I can't help to feel bad and incomplete.
Beyond that, the plot and development of the season wasn't the best, a bit weak. Also, a lot of chracters weren't in his best behaviour at all; but i guess that since they are "teenagers" (although Asa is looking like a 30' year old), is kinda "fine" and consistent with it. And the fact that Maeve wasn't as present in the development of the season as in the rest of the series, i think brought it down a couple notches.
Anyway, i'm glad that at least they gave a proper ending and not just cancel it. It was not the best, but at least it was tidy enough. The season, for me, gets a 7, and brings the total from 9 to 8 (because if i'm being honest, S3 wasn't great neither)
I give it a five. Had a lot of great moments and also a lot of s**tty moments. Too many loose ends and not deep enough explored stories. I would have preferred if they had explored less stories so we could have more quality. And as always, Ruby deserved better. Otis ended up with no one and that was what he deserved after everything.
I personally liked the ending.
Sooo that’s it…
It’s a great ending I think :)
Even though I didn’t like the season the ending was great. Ruby thank you for declining his friendship offer. You deserve better.
Seeing Adam and his family reuniting, especially with his dad, makes me happy :)
What a disappointing ending, focused way too much on the new characters and not enough giving satisfying endings to the characters we know and love, huge letdown to one of my favourite shows
certainly not a bad episode, but the highlights for me were definitely michael and aimee’s character arcs. i do like how maeve chose her own path too, it’s definitely very liberating and consistent with her character.
i do want to talk about this season having some issues, (too many storylines, what i felt was forced inclusivity and things strangely happening/linking up or other things not being mentioned by coincidence) it left me feeling that the writing could definitely have been improved. i think i’m most disappointed with otis’ character because i felt that the selfishness and ignorance was not consistent at all with how he was in the previous seasons. there’s a bit in this episode where otis blames his mother for himself and maeve breaking up, despite him being the one to make that decision?? there’s been other examples in previous episodes but i’ll just use that one.
a decent season, and i honestly couldn’t say that i was underwhelmed , but it definitely could have been executed far better.
glad things kinda worked out for everyone at the end~
and Cavendish College maybe a bit ideal, but appreciate if more inclusion in the world
you go bed wetter! LMFAOO
No idea what people are on about saying it focused too much on the new characters. This finale barely even featured them. Their problem may have been the opening, but it was basically dealt with in a two minute scene halfway through. The rest belonged to the OGs (and Cal, who counts at this point).
During S3 I came the conclusion that Otis and Ruby made a better pairing than Otis and Maeve, and the writers had a great opportunity to let Maeve go off solo at the end, because let's be honest, we don't all find the one at school and that's an important message this show needed too. Whilst the first part of that didn't pan out (and I'm not mad, they at least ended in a good enough place), the latter bit did and I'm so glad it did.
Otis and Eric have both tested my patience at times, but they have really grown on me again with the last few episodes.
I’m just really happy to see that their friendship hasn’t been lost after all, because it truly has been such a precious thing throughout the seasons <3
this show goes to great lengths to tell kids and young adults to look after themselves properly, and most of it I agree with and fully endorse, but the story with Cal is harmful and silly. Cal obviously has mental health issues. getting top surgery is not going to magically fix that, but the show, to me, felt like it was saying just that and i didn't like this at all. it's lazy and dangerous.
this show could not make me feel any sympathy for O and her ever-present condescending smirk. some people need to be popped in the face once to bring them back to reality.
i view these kids through the eyes of ruby. i think they're all pretty ridiculous, but their heart is in the right place, for the most part. i liked the shot of her at the very end, showing how these characters look from her point of view. greatly enjoyed that.
adam and his father's journey, both separately and together, is the one part of this show i genuinely enjoyed. i don't get why the guy in the wheelchair is able to make every girl fall in love with him, nor do i understand why the smart girl is able to do the same with men. i still don't understand why jean felt the need to raise another child in such an irresponsible manner so late in her life, and to promote that is equally irresponsible. but anyway...
overall this was kind of a fun show to make fun of and turn my brain off
The ending is awesome and touching even though the season is probably not the best. I loved the episode, and I think it’s a great finale for the show.
Jo opening up about her trauma to Gill was very moving.
Last season wasn't that great. Loved the show but wished they had closed it differently. Sorta open still to come back after 10 years i guess. Which is something they tend to do these days.
I saw it's the lowest rated episode on imdb so I was expecting the worst. I thought it was a satisfying conclusion. I guess I'm in the minority (?) that liked the new characters.
The only storyline that I found boring is Jean and her sister's.
I'm kind of disappointed Otis and Ruby weren't hinted as a possible thing. I felt like they still have chemerstry and they could have left us with Maybe on those two
I actually really loved this ending and i think it was a really good closure
Otis was still a bit bad but i think that’s more the fault of the rest of the season rather than this episode
A very sweet ending xx
Some great wrap ups and emotional moments all round. Nice to see some real growth in the characters too. I didn't realise until Maeve's letter how similar we were and her words really moved me. I know I've been changed by a relationship that's now a friendship and I'm a much more open person because of it.
Though Eric's nigh supernatural dreams/visions this season might have been a bit much I love that he's going to be a pastor. I'm not a religious person at all but I can't definitely see him making a difference in people's lives.
Also just adore the bond between Eric and Otis being ever strong by the end. We all need that!
Just think normal people meets sex education… That's basically how you're gonna feel by the end of this not bad, but it definitely stung.
A lot of shows and movies sh*t the bed in trying to be inclusive and 'woke' these last years. For me Euphoria and Sex Education are the two that stood out in doing it right.
It was good but I am not satisfied and that's okay. Life is like that most of the time so it was a realistic ending in a sense.
As boring as felt this final season was on the whole, I was surprisely fairly satisfied with final episode.
I think it became predictable and they wasted a lot of the story in general, it could have had more characters, I don't know if there was a lack of budget or what happened but the characters that were removed from the plot still had more.
It was enough for at least 24 episodes with a well told story.

This ending was fine I guess. Ruby, Adam, and Michael ended up being the most interesting characters in the show these final two seasons. Wasn't really a fan of the new characters in this season. Seasons 1 and 2 were definitely far superior to 3 and 4, but they were all enjoyable enough. Good place to end it.
