for some reason seeing maeve and otis finally together wasn't as satisfying as I thought it would be. I just liked him so much with ruby idt I want them together anymore lol
If season 2 was about breaking relationships and making opportunities ; then season 3 was all about mending them !!!
Eric is funny as usual and looks otis and maeve will end up together in next season but I am not happy Ruby's heart had to be broken like that after she opened up to Otis
If Maeve and Otis don’t end up together, this show is a joke
this show is very very well written
This season seems so entirely unfocused. I was missing the wholesome character arcs and ... a point. What was the point of this? No character really got anywhere, it was just stagnant drama, pretty much. I'm not happy that the new headmistress took THAT MUCH attention, this show doesn't need a bad guy. Also I'm sad we didn't get to see more of the kid's clothes, I love the way they dress! Also I can't comprehend Eric's decision by the end at all. What suddenly changed his mind?
I don't like how Eric is behaving with Adam, betraying him is so out of his character
!!!!!!!! Spoilers for the entire series: !!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, what a show this has been. I literally binged this entire show in less than a week, which is crazy. Not only is this a super entertaining show, but so many personal and touching moments spread throughout the season. Instead of going in-depth with each one, I will skim over each season and talk about the things I liked most about each season. Season 1: I love the focus on the trio of Maeve, Otis, and Eric for the first seasons. It had small subplots, but for the most part, the focus was on them. Eric and Otis's relationship was the best part of the season for sure, I love the both of them together so much. Every scene they're in together is charming, exciting, and fun. It is also the most consistent season in terms of quality as well. Season 2: This season expands the cast and explores them. I liked Rahim, though he was a bit emotionless and dry at times. It also has the peaks of the show for me, especially Adam (kinda) and Jackson's development. It was satisfying to watch him open up a lot more. He tried new things and opened up to his mom as well. I also love Jackson and Viv's friendship and when they hang out together. Aimee was another highlight of the season and she rules. Of course, Otis and Eric still have a fantastic friendship. Season 3: The highlights of this season were Adam and Michael for sure. I won't even lie when I say I teared up just a little at the very end for Adam. It was a small moment of victory, but I felt so proud of him for some reason. He was improving in so many areas throughout the entire season. I will say that I don't like Eric's behavior this season, but his friendship with Otis was still amazing. Speaking of Otis, I liked him a lot more this season. He felt way more mature, and I actually really enjoyed his small relationship with Ruby at the beginning. The Hope plotline was dumb.
Entire Show: To start with the negatives, I am not sure I like all the sex in it. Sometimes I think they go too overboard, but that does not really matter too much to me. I also think that the school itself is a little cliche sometimes. For example, people during the assemblies and all the bullying stereotypes. The stuff with Jean was repetitive and felt like the same plotlines were repeated throughout the first 3 seasons. I also think they introduce too many characters at times. Some characters I did not care for were Issac and Cal. I also didn't care for Ola and Lily, but I thought they were appropriate additions at least. For the positives, I listed a lot of them already, but I will revisit them quickly. Eric and Otis's relationship is the heart of the show. I also love the visitation of more characters in the seasons after the first as it helps flesh out all of the characters. Jackson and Adam are my two favorites in the show, and I love their development. I also really liked Maeve's story with her mom and all of those developments over the three seasons. By the end of season 3, Maeve ended up as one of my favorite characters. I think the characters are the best part of the show (duh), and they made me really connect with them. I also like the cinematography and all of the shots.
Anyway, with all of that rambling out of the way:
Season 1: High 8/10
Season 2: High 8/10
Season 3: Solid 8/10
Overall: High 8/10
Extra Season 3 Ratings:
At Time of Review:
Season 3: Solid 8/10
Story and Characters: 9/10
Presentation: 8/10
Enjoyability: 9/10
6/5/2023:
I now have the first 2 seasons as low 9/10s, and the entire show as the same as well. I realized that this is an amazing show that deserves to be higher rated, so I changed it.
After watching this season, I started to like the side characters like Adam, Aimee and Ruby and dislike the main characters such as Otis, Eric and Maeve. The acting of Connor on the break-up scene of Eric and Adam really broke my heart. You can see him holding back his tear real hard instead of trying to squish tears out. Ruby's facial expression when Otis didn't say 'I love you' back was spot on! Aimee is just a sweet pie. I love it when she offered to be each other's mom with Maeve, and when she reminded her not to give up an opportunity because of a boy.
This got weird so very fast. I was up for the S3, but now I'm not so sure.
Season 3 was a little different, didn't talk much about sexuality, this season talk a lot about connections in a relationship, the characters' personal issues and gender discrimination.
In this season too, we got to know the characters better, especially the other side of them that we haven't seen in the previous season.
[Netflix] The first two seasons present a story of adolescents with proactive sexual militancy that at least offers a less conservative view than usual, but once the initial approach is over, it ends up falling into a typical plot of couples and love relationships lengthened to exhaustion, which is sentimental and reveals less progressivism than intended.
I should have left comments for the last two seasons too to see how I had felt about those at the time. Goodness, I relate to so many characters here. Otis, Eric, Adam, Ruby, Jean, Ola. Like every single character. I love this about Sex Education. I was really hoping they would add more character depth to Hope. And it's not like they are going to dissect her character in the future. Wasn't in love with the France trip but this show keeps on getting more inclusive and I fucking love it.
This season was definitely not as good as the first two. It still has charm and it'll have you tearing up at times, but a lot of it just simply isn't so great. The cringe-worthy elements are over the top this season (maybe you don't think that's a bad thing) but it feels as though the show is almost a parody of itself at certain points. Certain arcs (specifically the one with the new headteacher, Hope) just feel really poorly done this season. On the flip side, however, some arcs are fantastic - namely Adam's arc, along with his father as well. Both of these characters started out as pretty horrible people in season one, but over the course of the show we've seen them grow and come a long way. Their character development is arguably the highlight of the show.
Ruby's arc was an interesting one. It seemed as though she was just a minor plot point and there was nothing to her, but she ended up having a lot of depth. It was just unfortunate that what we got to see of that was cut short. That's one of the big recurring issues I had with this season - it just felt as though many of the characters and dynamics we spent a lot of time with during previous seasons weren't so present in this one. Almost as though the show decided to focus in on more specific elements compared to previous seasons.
Overall, it's decent television, and it certainly has its moments. If you've watched the first two seasons, you'll likely enjoy this one as well. But this season certainly marks the lowest point yet of this show.
Weakest season until now. However, very good performance by Connor Swindells and Alistair Petrie!
totally binge-watched this season and OH GOD HOW I MISSED THESE CHARACTERS THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD. always bringing up so many serious topics in such a light and funny way.
BUT
i can't believe i'll have to wait another season to finally see maeve and otis dating... like i don't even know if that's gonna work out cuz so many things can change. guess i'll have to wait a little bit longer then...
