Very slow, very boring, very pretentious, very crap, I would rather sever my leg than sit through another episode.
Social experimentation... Humans like rats in a maze... Evil corporation bent on world domination (maybe)... Mmm, pizza! Me likey!
This show is fantastic. Severance is a narrative of how we live our lives constantly battling between work and life and what that balance should look like. It uses a unique science fiction storyline to dive deeper into that imaginative idea while using what some may perceive as mundane, but who are very realistic characters. This show does a great job at marrying reality with impossibility, which is what the best sci-fi books, films, and shows do. The actors are all great (Especially Adam Scott) and anyone who truly appreciates the art of acting and directing, or film in general, will truly appreciate this show.
Listen, Not every show or movie is for every person. But the people who are giving it one star are stuck in TikTok reality where their attention span is limited to less than 10 seconds. That’s not real life. This show is closer to real-life in an office than it is to TikTok (unless of course, you’re an “influencer”). Not every show or movie needs to have someone blow up or die in the first 5 minutes. And the ones giving this show a low rating because of characters have no understanding of the development of plots through the evolution and growth of characters throughout a storyline. And those who don’t like the actors don’t know good acting.
This is a psychological thriller because it makes you think, as long as you have that capability. Take a break from your phones, relax, and enjoy this unique show that tells a story, that has build-up, anticipation, and allows you to be excited about the small details that occur because you know eventually it will lead to crazier stuff. And allow yourself to actually use your imagination to contemplate this crazy alternate reality and your mind wander. You’ll likely enjoy it.
If you told me a guy who's infamous for starring in stupid low brow comedies would direct one of the best, thought provoking and most stylish TV shows to come out within the past 10 years I'd call you crazy. This series oozes personality and makes me wonder where Ben Stiller as a director has been all these years, guy just puts every other garbage live action show today to complete shame out of nowhere.
I was hoping I was going to like this, but I really didn't.
Maybe because I had high hopes due to the cast.
The pace is really slow, the back and forth is dull and the story failed to keep me interested. Will try and see the second and maybe third episodes to see if it improves.
I have one episode left, this is by far the best show I've seen in recent years. Great concept, great acting, great production.
I really enjoy it so far, two episodes in at this point. It feels a little Being John Malkovich mixed with Ben's Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
If you haven't seen this show, stop reading about it now and get to it
It's just plain boring. I've no problem with the fact that others enjoying it though. Have fun.
I like how this series was really poor evaluated when the first two episodes was released and now is with 83%. Glad that I choose to watch and figure out the major plot before it hapened (at first, something wasn't clicking for me and I almost thought that I missed one episode or something similar, than I decided that the only explanation was the simplest one and everything came together perfectly). Many congratulations to Dan Erickson, Chris Black and Ben Stiller.
head over heels in love with this show so far
great out of box idea but weak execution, it seems that this is the problem with atv+ shows
A superbly written TV series, actors capable of impeccably interpreting the personalities of the "insides" and "outsiders". The show, thanks to the dystopian reality it narrates, manages to highlight in a profound, intense and at the same time disturbing way the duality between work and private life. I don't say anything else, enjoy the show.
A slow but methodically and perfectly crafted first few episodes, progressing into an interesting and mind breaking finale, it wouldn't surprise me if Severance amasses a cult following in the next few years.
Perfect directing (Ben Stiller, respect man, you crushed it), amazing acting. Gets an 10 out of 10 out of me, perfectly executed.
Oh god, I absolutely loved it. Incredible. One of my favourites shows from now on.
Can't wait for the next few seasons.
I have a nagging feeling that the writers don't have a clue either and this is going to be cancelled with nothing revealed or turn out to be another 'Lost'. Scary numbers look an awful lot like smoke and polar bears, or the number sequence on the hatch.
Definitely in my top 5 favourite tv shows. Can't believe I actually felt again what I did when I first watched Hannibal and Westworld! Great!
Irv is my absolutely favourite character in the series. I love how he kinda stick to the nonsensical rules, but is also sensible, kinda shy, and affectionate.
Dylan's a lovable edgy lord, which is difficult to imagine.
Helly's an kickass! And reckless! I would definitely do what she did in that episode tho.
Mark (both of them) is the character that I had the most difficult time sympathizing with... He's either an ahole or awkward af. Still, by the end I was rooting for him, of course!
It's a slow-paced show, which is good in my opinion, because they're literally imprisoned in a freaking OFFICE, and if you expected to have explosions or whatever in the freaking OFFICE, you're a dunce. Not every fucking show has to be as fast-paced as a Guy Richie movie.
I wouldn't recommend the show to anyone who has the attention span of a toddler.
I would recommend it to anyone who likes some mystery, sci-fi, character development, good acting etc..
What's up with Apple TV shows all of them are almost perfect
I love all of their shows it's like they have been carefully selected.
Foundation, SEE, Ted lasso, For all mankind, and now Severance!!:fire::fire::fire:
Seems like people are just bored and have nothing else to do, So they will watch anything these days.
Had to skip through the last 5 episodes of the show and apparently those are when the show gets better.
Slowest pretentious crap show.
I think if the show was like 5 episodes with thirty minutes per episode. It might have worked for me
A must-see. It is already a classic in the genre.
Don't miss this series in any way! 1st season was incredible!
Holy shit. That finale was perfect. Great concept, great writing, can’t wait for S02
Amazing, midblowing. Had me binge-watching.
Started off slow, confusing and boring, but it grows. Keeps getting better. It's a good show.
If you're into Black Mirror kind of shows, this is for you.
If you like Black Mirror, you'll love this series. It's basically just one giant Black Mirror episode and I absolutely love it! Can't wait for season 2 to come out!
Watching the comment section, this show is either love or hate. For me, it was very mind-boggling and not boring at all. It allowed me to think about being in the same situation and showed me what it would feel and be like.
OMG finally a good series in such a long time, the suspense, the guessing, the intrigue, such a good show. 2nd season please !!
Beautiful television. I rarely enjoy tv series, especially with the onslaught of Netflix and Amazon crap. I enjoyed Stranger Things and Black Mirror… But this, a thing of beauty. Brilliant story, great acting, beautiful cinematography, well crafted. It’s similar in a fashion to Westworld, only far less convoluted and way more intriguing. Hats off to Ben Stiller!
Marvelous series. It reminded me a lot of Devs, but with more of a bite of human depersonalisation, and the cult as corporate. The human being is a collective of many, and individuality is a construct of the moment seems to be the message. Taut and rather sophisticated, and despite its leap of faith, rewarding to watch. May make you reassess your work-life balance, and even the notion of that 8hrs labour, 8 hours rest, 8 hours recreation. Or all three of those personality domains. 9/10
Patricia Arquette does not fking miss.
Between this and Escape at Dannemora and The Act, Patricia is blessing us with a Patricia Arquette TV Renaissance we just don't know it
The first 6 episodes are weird and we were just plodding through to the end of the season with no intention of ever watching another season of this strange show with no real purpose. Then episode 7 arrived and... oh THIS is interesting! This might actually start to be good, now we're intrigued.
There's only 2 episodes left and it's finally come alive. Unfortunately we had to sit through 6 mediocre episodes that could easily have been trimmed to 2 or 3 before we get to the juicy bits.
First 6 episodes: 4/10
Episode 7: 8/10
Contains brilliant ideas and has great attention to detail however "dah pacing" is slow. What I mean by that is that the show sometimes dwells on unnecessary information or flows between them too slowly specially at the end.
Amazing first season. Allegorical presentation of modern corporate life, where a total separation of personal and professional life is required. A Utopia where corporate figures emerge as religious figures, and the rewarding of those who show blind faith in all their decisions. A good dose of retro meets sci-fi. Brilliant acting. What is not to like? Looking forward to season 2
Great documentary on Amazon whearehouses. Everyone should watch!
[AFTER SEASON 1]
Simply amazing! This might be my new favorite Apple TV+ show after Ted Lasso. It’s mysterious, intriguing, surprising, and visually beautiful at times. I won’t spoil anything, but the conclusion kept me wanting more… Lucky me for the upcoming season 2.
Slow paced subtle cleverness that makes you want to rewatch earlier episodes as more plot is revealed. Also head-trippy title sequence never got old! Definitely intrigued for Season 2...
This is mysterious and keeps you guessing throughout.
I'm having a hard time figuring out what so many people like about this show. It's very slow and the acting is so-so. The weird is OK, I like weird, but this might be a bit too weird for me. I'm going to watch a couple more episodes to see if the "thing everyone likes" happens, but so far it's not.
This show has many layers. It will entertain and hopefully have you think a little too.
Perhaps a slow start but then ZOOOOM.
Go in knowing very little.
It is bingeable to the core-- but I'd say a few episodes at a time.
The finale WILL have you on the edge of your seat.
Season 1 sluggish to get going, but when it did we really enjoyed it - however, I think the final episode of S1 was a little weak. Yes it left things hanging ready for a follow on season, but could have been more of a bang.
So far two episodes are really great and promising. Style is very similar to Cypher.
I have to say I don’t really like Ben Stiller neither as an actor nor as a creator, but maybe he’ll do a better job just directing.
What a ride it was :) Can't wait for 2nd season. For me personally it's the best show of 2021-2022 so far :)
Probably the best series I’ve seen in a long time. A truly mindf:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:ed experience.
Overrated ... Don't watch so boring
man... americans just cant do slow burner.
The show felt slow but I couldn't help but keep watching to see what would happen next. There isn't a whole lot of action but there is a whole lot of talking. That's probably what bores most people because there isn't much any of the characters can do because they're living two separate lives and neither one knows anything about their other half. So the only thing they can do is talk, ask questions, and talk some more.
I enjoyed this show quit a bit but one thing I've noticed if your not fully paying attention you'll miss thing or get confused and have to rewind so not a good show to watch before bed. Also I really enjoyed the score and wish they made a vinyl for it. lastly what I was so surprised to find out was that one of my favorite actors Ben Stiller directed this and I thought he did an amazing job.
strongly reminiscent of McGoohan's The Prisoner, in all the best ways
recommended for its slow burn, chilling manipulation, unexpected friendships, and unapologetic surrealist streak
The first season was a great watch, but I really hope they have an endgame in mind and answers to some of the mysteries that are still not resolved. Don't let it be another Westworld.
Great series but a bit dragged out. Hoping for a tighter season 2.
Love this. A true masterpiece. Period.
Deeply in love with the way Milchick walks. :hotsprings:
Watched the first two episodes and I’ve never been more bored in my life.
Stopped watching at that point. Don’t need to waste any more of my time on this.
Don’t understand how it’s got such good ratings and reviews.
Interesting idea, but very slow moving. Completely unnecessary, irrelevant, cringe-worthy, homosexual relationship involving Christopher Walken & John Turturro. But they have to fulfill the woke requirements.
It’s criminal that it took me this long to watch Severance. Such an incredible show. It’s a shame that after the first season was delayed due to COVID, now the second season is being delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes, but I suppose it’s necessary. Still can’t wait to see more of this show and I really hope it manages to maintain the incredibly strong start.
what the hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! losing my mind
Meme show, 6/10 at best.
It's frightening and intriguing. "Corporate chill" takes a whole new meaning, I would recommend but take care of yourself: don't watch if you hate your job as this is personnification of that sentiment.
8/10. pretty great show. great acting
Love the argument o this show. Keep work and personal lives separates from each other
Since Lost, I have been waiting for a good mystery show and this show is one of the few that gets better and better. Good actors. A nice surprise
I watched the first and last episodes didn’t miss anything felt like a complete movie ….
although deeply flawed, it is an interesting piece of mystery and thriller! like for example their job is to look at random numbers and delete the "bad" ones so it is implied that their implants tells them what to delete, so you're telling me this shit couldn't have been automated? and if such memory manipulation tech did exist it would have way better applications than this corporate dystopian hell  but anyway I really enjoyed the buildup and the suspense. maybe the only thing that felt out of place was the gay relationship between burt and irv, which felt more like woke propaganda  rather than actually contributing something to the plot but whatever... overall it was a good show with a interesting concept and I hope there will be a 2nd season 'cuz the cliffhanger really did leave me wanting more
I am so afraid, these shows getting 10, common people, this crap cannot be compared to black mirror, or any other good show, I cant barely awake, it is like a Everything Everywhere All... That crap, that on comments said it s also a 10, damn, I am so afraid, what s going on? The IA already conquer us, damn. Bad show. Slow, bad acting, written, I saw soap óperas better than these woke-sh1t. Skip it.
What a rant. No one searches them on the way out so is it really such a big problem to write a message to yourself what you did at work and not to return to it? Paper and pens are available.
Get quantum leapt, b*! I'll never forgive them if they stop making this.
This show is so fucking awesome!!!! I need season 2 already!! The beginning is a little slow, but it needs to be and it will make sense. I’m just so hungry for S2!!!! We need it already!!
Intense this show is wow.
Praise Kier Eagan! This is one of my new favorite shows ever!
well on its way to being the best sci-fi show ever created. such a fascinating mystery. couldn't help but binge it in a couple of days
I kinda wish they'd made a limited series and wrapped it up in 10 episodes cause I honestly don't think it can get better, it's already an actual masterpiece, acting, cinematography, directing, writing - magnificent. I fear for season 2.
One of those rares like of 'The Matrix' whose storyline is sufficient to keep you watching. Pure drama, strong character development and great concept. Pacing is slow, but if anyone make through first episode it's only uphill from there.
Absolutely loved this show, so interesting, the way everything comes together, excellent
Absolute batshit. I don’t remember the last time I was this fascinated and totally hooked by a premise. It started to lose me a bit when it got deep into the mythology, but I can’t wait for Season 2.
I never would have watched this if I had known it didn't have an ending for the 1st season.
Season 1 of Severance is among the best television I've seen in the past few years. Absolute gem of a show, neck-and-neck with Lost season 1 for best first season of a show ever. The concept isn't anything all that unique and just reading the synopsis of the show had me kind of lukewarm on it thinking it was going to be gimmicky, but they really blew me away.
It's executed so well - visually this show is gorgeous, the performances seem strong, the characters are interesting, and the premise just has me wanting to see more. I wish the first 5 episodes were maybe 3 because the beginning was a bit slow but I forgave them when things started to reveal. themselves. The first sets up an interesting premise with loads of potential and questions. Those writers have an insane amount of confidence in their story, to end the first season with so few questions answered.
Probably the most disconcerting aspect of Severance, among many, is how accurately they portray the oppressive banality of office work—the useless perks, the jargon, the uncanny attempts at fun and levity, all of it.
This last episode of season 1 was brilliant! The way it kept escalating in tension throughout the entire episode was amazing, how all the characters got more and more information, and the cliffhanger and the end... perfection. I was getting so frustrated with how slowly Mark was doing things. I know at first he was trying to figure out who everyone was, but even after that he was just taking his time as if there wasn't a ticking clock.
I cannot wait for season 2. They'd better not run it into the ground though. Three seasons and done, please!
Big recommendation if you haven't seen it yet.
Hands down my favorite series in a while, where great production value meets solid writing and original ideas. Ben Stiller did a surprisingly good job as a director, creating an atmosphere in between surreal comedy, psychological thriller, and subtle horror. Not to mention the neat visuals, with aseptic office spaces equipped with retro technology and essential decor. At first, you are led to take it as some kind of black comedy that makes a commentary on employees’ working conditions, which is correct, but the reality the innies are stuck in is scary as hell if stop and think about it for a second. Interesting how the show doesn’t only condemn big corporations, but also makes fun of anti-corporate activists like Mark’s family. Still, it never gets to the point it's preachy or on the nose as the show is, above anything else, still an entertainment product.
The chance to relegate all our work-related memories to a different personality sounds tempting at first, but one should not forget that pain and sweat are what build our personality and differentiates us from children. It’s interesting how Mark seems to be the only character who got himself severed to forget about the outside world for eight hours a day rather than the other way around, even though this perception slowly evolves throughout the season.
Hope to see more Patricia Arquette in the next seasons! She's scary as hell.
Fucking A. I want more! Superb writing and a great cast. Well executed. Bravo!
Amazing, amazing, amazing. The premise of splitting your mind such that another personality can exist, but only at work, is so intriguing, and the way they approach it by having these severed people represent humanity at its purest is very compelling. Masterful writing, cinematography, directing, acting, everything...
Top-notch show and a must-watch.
The show's mystery and intrigue remind me of Lost because they share similar key points: there's something far bigger and on purpose made unknown that is happening around the main characters (and the viewer) and every time something new is discovered, I guarantee you that you wouldn't have guessed it because it makes no sense.
I just hope that they won't mess this one up for the series ending lol.
Show of the year, what a roller coaster of emotions
Amazing shooting and writing.Perfect storytelling!!
A dark and twisted series Apple TV + takes a risk with a different proposal and succeeds, looking forward to the second season.
love this show can't wait for more
Apple TV makes some very strange series. This is another one of these. It has the vibe of an episode of BLACK MIRROR, but not the innate brilliance. It is very slow to invite the viewer into the reality behind the drama but once the door opened, I was all in. Unfortunately, it built up to a cliffhanger, and, if you follow me, you know how I feel about that, in a world where second seasons are not guaranteed. I have no problem with a series having a series arc when there is more story to tell, but I firmly believe the writers owe it to their audience to have a seasonal arc that resolves. This was just getting interesting, when it ended. Had it not, I would have given it a 7 (good), maybe even an 8 (great). I give this series a 6 (disappointed fair) out of 10. [SciFi Alternate Reality]
I feel like this is what would happen if you'd let Spike Jonze and David Fincher direct a show that was created by Damon Lindelof and Charlie Kaufman.
Imagine my surprise when I found out that most of this was directed by Derek Zoolander.
Absolutely terrific show. Great attention to detail, it looks cinematic from the first to the last frame, perfectly acted (it's a very good showcase for Adam Scott in particular), interesting storyline with great dialogue and layers upon layers of subtext, memorable score and good editing.
My only complaint is that there are a few too many conveniences in it, such as how the book ends up with Mark's innie, or how Mark obtains the card for the security room .
Those small issues aside, I loved it.
Here's hoping it sticks the landing and doesn't turn into another Lost.
9/10
I found this show very captivating. The story is somewhat slow-going though you can't help but watch every second in anticipation of what is going to happen next. It's a mind-bend with a parallel to our current society, so be prepared. Looking forward to what's coming next!
Great show to watch (superb)
Very, very recommendable to everyone, I really enjoyed it, waiting for the next season
WOW!..... if you haven't watched this yet. get off the toilet, wipe your behind and turn this on. Great show, it's a must see.
Finally a well-×written and acted show though I did find 'Mers* Mrs Cobel character too qy* quiet and mumbly at points so her dialogue was hard to understand. A slow burn suspense show that actually does leave you surprised by some revelations at season end but some might be able to guess if they tgink like me .Only issue is that the episodes upto 6 are slow and mostly character building but is required viewing - I enjoy a good weekly shiw but this Season 1 is best as a binge watch it is not written well for weekly style but great for binge or 2 ep at a time. I miss watching quality shows like this as it reminds me of the early 2000s & 90s good quality writing and tgouggt * thought provikiong* provoking fictional drama! A highly recommended and after that cliff-hanger leaves you eager for S2 - I just hope the quality remains and does not go downhill.
Finished the show. It’s well written & well acted show. However the show really doesn’t start till episode 8 so skip to the end unless you want to sit through 7 hours of slow as shit character building. My recommendation is to wait till they are finished with the show with all seasons aired. Because entire season 1 is a preamble for season 2. The story really doesn’t start till the last 15 mins of season 1. Some people love this kind of format but I found it to be complete waste of my time. I’ll wait for season 2 to air before watching it when I have time.
Good show but it’s painfully slow as fuck. I’m glad I didn’t watch it when it aired weekly. I would’ve never bothered with the show.
Clicked through the episodes boring as fuck
The Arquette sister is woefully miscast.
Apple, just give us the second season. You know we want it.
Must watch. This is a masterpiece :fire: Only thing you might not like is the slow pace. It's pretty slow as if it is playing at. 25x speed. So what you do? Just watch it at 1.4 speed but please don't skip the series because of it's pace. Hell of a show :fire:
The premise and the styling are great. The story is good and hooks you in. But the amount of filler is crazy. There are so many moments when nothing is happening. And there is no ending. At all. If they removed the bloat they would have plenty of space to work on the story. But then nobody would pay them for the second season :/

Mind f* and retro-modern techno wierd. Exactly how I like it
