This episode was very interesting and the end was good, it started a bit slow and boring, but it gradually got better towards the last 20 minutes, give or take. I knew Cheryl was hiding something about her brother's "death". I don't know why I still suspect some kind of incest?

Good show. Some-what cliche but addicting and well acted. The actors and characters are charming.

Betty's utter indecisiveness and the whole back and forth on whether she does or doesn't want to be friends with Archie and Veronica is driving me crazy.
There were some glaringly obvious continuity issues with the wet hair/dry hair scenes during the rally. Yes, I'm super nitpicky.

that ending though, can't wait 'til next week!

Man, they butchered the classic Archie song...

I still can't believe they're treating the "relationship" between Archie and Ms. Grundy as being just a little scandalous, instead of what it actually is - an adult woman preying upon an underage teenager.

The second episode confirms what I assumed - It's typically The CW. This show is full of stereotypes and cheesiness, and you either enjoy it or hate it.
Some of my absolute guilty pleasures have been on The CW (and then went from guilty pleasure to absolute shit because it got dragged on for way too long and that seems to be a common problem The CW has in general but that's another story), so I have no problems admitting that I'm enjoying it for now. Some stereotypes are even acknowledged (e.g. in the first episode when Cheryl was making fun of the gay best friend or when Cheryl was pointing out that lesbian kisses are not a taboo anymore), so that's a good thing.

All in all I guess people shouldn't have any expectations that it does a 180. It'll probably keep the stereotypes and the drama, so you either deal with it and maybe even laugh about it or just quit right here because the overall mood/setting won't change.

I can not compare, Archie is the male version of PLL's Aria. I liked Betty putting the claws out and this group of kitties, name and cheesy looks.
