I like it so far but why does Disney always short the episode time with 10 min of credits. Hate that.

It's ok, not great not terrible, but holy fuck how we came from Alexandra Daddario to this shit, I don't really understand casting black teen for this specific role, it totally ruins the immersion of this series
Much better than the movie. Two episodes in and I'm hooked.
P.S. Sadly, after whole season, I don't feel the same. Not sure why, but my hype for the show kinda fizzled out.
The feel for the whole show is a meh (5), but I gave it fair (6) score just because of hype from beginning.
The VFX is top notch , but sadly this is a show for kids. So , it has way too much plot armour, predictable storylines and very mature dialogues from little kids.
If you're fine with that , you'll probably like this.
It's a fine adaptation, but I can't help but think it could have been a great one instead.

Pretty cheesy kids show. Watching w my 13 year old and he likes it. If it weren’t for him there’s no way I’d watch this.
I'm not the biggest nerd about the books, so my take is purely from a person watching this as a show and not really as an adaptation. I thought the show was overall good, and it got better the farther into the show it got. I don't think it was anything amazing though, but I wouldn't say it's bad either.
Really disappointed with this, highly likely I won't be watching season 2. First episode I really enjoyed but it quickly went down a slope of mediocre. Every episode seemed extremely rushed and it felt like by the time we had gotten to the finale we were still missing a full season of plot. 5/10

It is a perfect copy of the movie, the 1st episode at least but done it worse. I had more hopes for this series.
Initial episodes are good. The casting is on point, Especially Mr. D. Way better than the movie adaptation. I hope they don't change much from the books.
When I was young I was obsessed with myths: Celtic, Roman, Greek, Nordic. As a Christian, I was amazed how these cultures made their gods in there own image. How contrary to Christianity where we are made in the image of God. This series should feed some of the same curiosities that fed me. It paints the Greek gods as…. well, that’s best for you to find out for yourself. I would say its audience is early teens. Special effects are good. The acting is very good. Even though it completed a seasonal arc, the story set us up for a second season. I give this series a 7 (well done) out of 10. [Young Adult Fantasy]

anyone thinking of watching this who's an adult: yes, this feels rushed, but it's GOOD. like i thought i loved the movie and went back and rewatched (did not, was just distracted by logan lerman i think) and this is miles away better. here's my theory: i have a feeling if you sat a kid in front of this every weeknight before bed they wouldn't have much to say about the pacing, or what feels glossed over or lacking. it has a pace geared towards late elementary to middle school attention spans and i think a pace for young adults or college students would have what feels missing but it ALSO would be aged up to compensate for the demographic. to my knowledge, the aging up of the movies was part of why the creator of the books was unhappy with them (could be wrong though).
either way, if you think the quick pace will ruin the experience for you, i'd suggest marathoning all the episodes in one or two sittings like a movie. it's a quick and fun watch, and that might off-set the rushed feeling.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians - :heart:x7
This was a good series. It felt more fleshed out than "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010)". Looking forward to a season 2.

This was an interesting one to say the least. The films, when they first came out were something I really enjoyed but as I grew older I started to form a.disconnect with the films for how badly they deviated from the source material so when I knew they were making a reboot I was very excited. Do I think this did the books justice. If I'm being honest it was nowhere near however I think this show has massive potential. I am so glad that the actors were.in the correct age range for the characters and that we've got a more culturally diverse cast. I also think some of the sets were better and we had more scenes in the books that the films just ignored completely. For me I think I found it difficult because the overall tone of this series is vastly different to that of the films - I feel like the films took a darker tone whilst this stayed closer to the books by adopting a more child friendly tone which is fine because it's more true to the books but as I get older I long for a darker tone. However, that's a me thing and not fault of the show.
I found some of the acting to be majorly lacking here, although I do recognize that over half of the cast are children I feel like they could have taken longer to hone the acting and I felt like we were way too fast paced. I was also very disappointed with the way they handled medusa in this one. I thought Uma Thurman played a wonderful part in the films and it will always be a standout for that franchise but they just weren't able to replicate how great it was in the films. Overall this is ok but does have room for improvement.
I've so not read the books, so I couldn't say how well an adaptation this is, however, as a TV show, this didn't quite have me hooked.
I understand now why the books'fans were mad at the movies. While, at the time, I didn't hate them, they were very different from this adaptation (which I'm told is a good one). I can see now tha a lot of stuff was changed in the first adaptations, plot- and character-wise.
I'm writing this comment after finishing the last episode, and I'm sad to say it was underwhelming. The fight between Luke and Percy felt meh, especially because the reveal wasn't a surprise to me. In the end, I can't really say there was a climax. My expectations grew with every episode, only to fall flat at the ending, unfortunately.
Some scenes gave off strong Harry Potter vibes, especially in the last episode with horsey Dumbledore and the goodbye scene at Thalia's tree, where I could almost hear the Hogwarts Express in the background.
I'm a bit disappointed that Grover stayed the clumsy character throughout, the one that makes oopsie mistakes and is afraid of stuff. I didn't really see him evolve, so I didn't care much, and his jokes rarely landed with me.
Cast-wise, I enjoyed pretty much everybody. Special mention to Walker Scobell just because his eyes are totally sea-like for some reason.
The Sims'Trident hovering over Percy in episode 2 or 3 gave me a good laugh, but otherwise the VFX were good although I suspect they used stratagems to stay within a TV series'budget.
Overall, a good adaptation that gives me hope for other book series in the future (Artemis Fowl, looking at you, please do not rest in peace, wake up and do something !). I'll be waiting for season 2 !

I made peace with Annabeth being black especially since the actor plays the character well. But zeus being black is not spmething I'm fond of. Its not only that he's black, he's nothing like zeus. He reminds me more of gustavo fring from breaking bad than zeus and that's not a good thing
I love the book series. I even credit it with reigniting my passion for reading when I was in high school. The movies were big disappointments for me, so I had fairly low expectations for this show. But with Rick Riordan's help it actually pleasantly surprised me. The acting is fairly good, the visual effects are really good (better than most of the new Marvel shows) and overall I found it to be a very fun, mostly faithful adaptation. I'm looking forward to season 2.
to people complaining about racial this and that in this adaptation because you think disney is woke, were you also upset when the heroes of olympus series had native american, hispanic, chinese and black demigods (which was so obvious in its intentions), or are y'all as illiterate as you are racist. i mean like how dare fictional gods want to take advantage of humans of all shades...
a proper adaptation to a beloved childhood book series. casting, writing, set are all on point. my main gripe is the inconsistent pacing throughout the series. also, depending on the director, some of the shots are kinda wack which can take away from peak emotional moments or dialogue. but overall, it's thoroughly enjoyable and remains loyal to the source material.
I was very afraid of another unwatchable piece of woke cr*p, but to my surprise - so far, 3 episodes in - it's not too bad. There's too many black washing of characters, but that's it.
The series itself is also quite decent, though it's aimed at kids/young families. It's really a remake of the 2010 movie. It lacks some sparks amongst the main characters (insert woke here) but it's been better than i dared to expect, again - so far.
Still it's a huge step down from the movie, which is to be expected when cramming every episode an entire story in a 35 minute episode.

I haven't read this series but I have read other work by Rick. The pacing seems off but it's a good show and it's worth a watch. I hope the pacing and writing gets better but I'll probably watch the entire season.

Ok i just got done watching epi 1&2.....i think the movie had better graphics based on the obvious budget differences, but honestly speaking......did this need a reboot?.....why not just make a pt3 to the movie......its nice entertainment but nothing to shout about, like ill probably let it pile on then binge it and forget it, unless it some how turns out epic.....although seeing as i know exactly whats going to happen i doubt. No one will remember the series when the name Percy Jackson is mentioned... Having said all that...it was nice family watch
I have been waiting for this for months and I'm SO happy it’s finally out :heart_eyes: The first two episodes were great, I like the main cast a lot - Walker is the perfect Percy!! The pacing is good, production value is amazing. I'm super excited to be watching this every week now, and I hope there will be more seasons! :satisfied:

I'm no fan of the books but damn the pace is all over the place, first episode was mediocre at best and why did they make it just 37 minutes? Give us more background and development before you rush into a fight scene. Second episode was better in terms of pacing but yet it felt so disconnected to me one episode you get chased by a monster and the next you're fighting off bullies. I don't know if this is how it went in the books but I really wish this gets better in the coming episodes.
Edit: okay it does get better actually in terms of pacing and all but the show is catered towards a younger audience so I'm not gonna criticise it much but why tf does everyone has either daddy or mommy issues
