what a shitty mess of a series. They should stop this series right away
This is good and fun.
It does have edge and sharp writing (also some corny toilet humour, but you kinda have to accept that with James Gunn at this point) which makes it stand out in its genre.
In fact, this thing is kind of a blessing in a time where most superhero content is running out of ideas and getting increasingly more bland.
It’s a show that fits comfortably with the current HBO brand, as they have perfected the art of making shows where the main characters are kinda like nails on a chalkboard, but still interesting and entertaining nonetheless (White Lotus, Succession).
John Cena plays one of the most unlikeable human beings you can imagine (racist, patriotic, dumb, douchy, listens to cheesy 80s hardrock/hairmetal) but you’re still glued to the screen because he’s so unpredictable and interesting.
Clearly, he’s not the greatest actor, but he’s got that same presence that The Rock and Schwarzenegger have (to a lesser degree than those actors, but still), meaning that if the director knows how to use them, they can be great leads.
I kinda wish we knew the layers this show gives to his character before seeing The Suicide Squad.
The story is fine, as is the filmmaking.
It looks nowhere near as good as The Suicide Squad, but they still manage to be stylistic just through the use of dialogue, music, editing, etc.
Watch it if you’re a fan of The Boys, Kick Ass, or just edgy stuff in general from directors like James Gunn, Matthew Vaughn or Quentin Tarantino.
:notes: Do ya really wanna
Do ya really wanna taste it :notes:
More try hard garbage from DC, also fuck John Cena.
Not for me thank you very much ,20 min was enough
Very, very good, even if you don’t particularly enjoy superhero franchises, like me. Action packed, great characters, and perhaps most of all, absolutely hilarious!
After enjoying James Gunn's Suicide Squad movie I was interested in checking out the series after multiple people recommended it to me. I was extremely hesitant because live action TV shows especially newer ones are some of the most laughable excuse of garbage you could ever waste 30 minutes watching and after getting only halfway through the first episode I realized that hesitancy was warranted. Pretty sure the f bomb is said over 15 times in the first half of the episode and comes off like the show was written by a pre teen who had just learned the f word and is trying to impress his friends. The Suicide Squad was a decent mix of campy black comedy and gratuitous violence, something that James Gunn has done well before with Super but this is more like the result of giving a 12 year old a bag of meth, telling him to write something like Deadpool and afterwards you have the producers insert the obligatory PC wokeness that has to go into every new TV show made or some executive who's last name ends in berg will have a heart attack and immediately die. James Gunn's Suicide Squad certainly wasn't an amazing film or anything but it wasn't whatever abomination this is, I have no idea what Gunn was thinking directing this, maybe the producers had his nuts in a vice or something. I don't hold Gunn or his movies to that high of a standard, his movies are entertaining, decently made and miles better than whatever Marvel defecates on anticipating fans these days, he certainly isn't the best director in the black comedy sphere and he is no Coen Brothers but this is just so unbelievably terrible it floored my already modest expectations.
I did see the dancing part, but I didn't understand. Then I read comments mentioning it as a great part of the show.
Thanks for helping me realize I should turn this off sooner rather than later.
One sentence review would be "Perfect Show with a Perfect Ending".
Peacemaker what a joke!
Its fun, goofy, full of entertainment. It was out of box for DC like Suicide Squad. It breaks the so called typical genre of "DARK DC" and made a colorful world on its own. John Cena plays one of the most unlikeable human beings you can imagine (racist, patriotic, dumb, douchy, listens to cheesy 80s hardrock), but you’ll still like him because he’s so unpredictable and interesting. Damn! He is a good actor; better than THE ROCK ( well wait for Black Adam too, lets see what have he got ). Despite being the Protagonist of the show, John Cena isn't the only main character; every other supporting character performed deliberately. That unwanted sidekick stole the show! Clearly Vigilante deserve his own content.
Everyone acted their best, story was well-built, character buildup was top notch. Everything got synced on their own. Pretty much every joke fits in and goes with the flow. There is some unexpected turns and twist all over. There is some cool shots with camera and VFX was pretty cool! I liked how they make Peacemaker grow up all along and make him relatable to everyone. I liked even in last episode there was a character buildup moment for Economos. And also, I love the relationship between Emilia and Chris. There were no adultery, no seducing intimate scene between them not a single kiss; yet the romance still lives in their!
Yet the show have some flaws too. LGBTQ was brutally forced, some jokes gone corny. Needed some exploration on White Dragon too and also I wonder where that Gorilla came from XD
Nevertheless the show gave some good entertainment. Last minute cameo was awesome. It have a perfect ending which recent MCU shows doesn't have :3 Also I am looking for those DC Fans who had problem with James Gunn for his jokes and always made fun of GOTG ~.~ Well, good content gives good entertainment. Need some more like this! Last but not least, James Gunn's music selection always melt me. I WANT HIS PLAYLIST!
I never thought I would like Cena as, well, anything. I pretty much am burned out and can't tolerate super hero and comic book shows and movies. That being said, I L-O-V-E this show. The opening credits alone is awesome. It's vulgar, it's disrespectful, it has butt kicking constantly and it is just a great show!
And, of course, EAGLEY!
I don't know that Cena can survive his being a China apologist, but if he does and they don't make this show all about political agendas then it'll be a good one for a while!
Thank you James Gunn for coming to DC and providing a good quality product. When Warner doesn't meddle in the creative process, and lets directors roam free, these wonders happen. It is not a perfect series, but it is VERY funny and you manage to empathize with the characters. John Cena: 10/10, I was pleasantly surprised. The entire cast is great. I hope James Gunn comes back with new movies and series. Soundtrack 10/10
"Peacemaker – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it" - Much funnier in Chinese.
Hell Yeah! DC are finally having a little fun on the screen. Good action, laughs and a little drama. I have now made peace with them.
I think this show is more suited for Americans. Guns, white supremacists, racist & sexist jokes, aliens, KKK... The whole package.
James Gunn makes another amazing story, and as always has an amazing soundtrack selection
.
Everything from intro to that outro's are hecking awesome.
But let's talk a bit about the story, but not spoilerwise, actually a little bit.
The whole story is about aliens, but now they're not a kaiju,, but small butterflies that fly and take control of you. Simple right? Well, actually no. Because that's not what show is about. It isn't even close to that. The whole story is about the tragic life of Peacemaker, it's about why he is the way he is. It is why it's different from every full-mainstream superhero show (mainly by marvel), it's not about blood, sex, racism, weed or alcohol. It's about the delivery of some lines. There is one amazing scene when he cries in bed and punches himself, about being an awful person to others, but then Vigilante shows up and again he put's a facade, a "mask" and tries to be badass that don't cry. And there's the line in Episode 6 that he doesn't want to kill anymore, "peace for every price" is about the PEACE not about an price.
After all amazing show, and please new marvel thingies I don't want a cameo, or making a character dumber (ekhem*Kingpin in Hawkeye*ekhem). Please make them a good thing, not a goof thing and learn. Because they feel repeatable.
Just f**king watch that thing already.
ps.
After finale throughts BEST SUPERHERO SHOW NO QUESTIONS ASKED
Obnoxiously hilarious. This is comedic gold. Couldn’t have found a better actor for lead role.
Love the use of 80s music.
John Cena is so under rated actor & mich better than the Rock.
I love the music, R-rated violence, the funny jokes, the unwanted sidekick needs his own show!! and John Cena's acting has come a long way, he's great in this show, great comedic timing and legit action star 8/10
The intro alone makes it worth a watch.
oh boy, another reskin of deadpool
I enjoyed this Show..I think John Cena played this part well..Would love too see more..
I just can’t get enough of vigilantes humor
Really nice. Except for the director or the writer being a huge classical music nerd. I really enjoyed it. Good story. Good cast. But suicide squad was more op. But all things together it was really very good.
Absolutely hilarious and a good time plus it has the best opening credits ever.
wild that Gunn got all this money to just make a Gunn thing, barely skimming enough DC IP to qualify for the funds and mocking every bit of it. super fun all the time. walks a very difficult tightrope between being silly, badass, and heartfelt—every heartstring pull is exactly tongue-in-cheek enough to not feel cloying, while still hitting the string. should be a tonal mess but it just works. Gunn shows why all these annoying tropes got so ubiquitous in the first place—in his hands, a needledrop feels cool, quippy meta dialogue is funny, and the comedy enhances the action and story beats instead of undercutting it
Aside from The Dark Knight trilogy and the recent Matt Reeves Batman movie, this is without a doubt the best live-action DC material to date. It's funny, it's original, it has charm, and it's a whole lot of fun! Best opening credits I've ever seen! Can't wait to see more.
This show is great adult comedy, and that is what the world needs now. Long live Peacemaker!
pretty Ash vs Evil Dead, but in DCEU. It was fun, and if I could I'd probably rate it a high 7.
This show was so surprisingly good. I really wasn't expecting it to be so humorous or heartfelt at times. Really really well done show with only minor quibbles here and there.
[HBO Max] James Gunn develops his naughty tone that subverts the usual superhero stories and that connects with his beginnings in Troma and with his movie "Super" (2010). Better elaborated in the action scenes, it introduces elements that humanize the character in his secondary role in a DC multiverse full of leading stars. And it manages to develop characters who find their own way far from the imposed connections.
:heart:x7
OK - so - this show is just stupid. But, it is funny, and goofy, and wild, and a pretty good watch.
The title sequence of the show pretty much tells you all you need to know about the goofiness of the show.
Sadly, it looks like most, if not all the supporting characters will not be back for season 2 if there is one.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
One of the best shows I have seen in a long time. Wonderfully executed, and absolutely brilliant .
The beginning was funny but for me i got annoying after couple of episodes, removed it eventually. Not my kind of tv show
I'm not sure this really stuck the landing particularly well but it is a ridiculously entertaining and fun show throughout. A lot of the jokes don't really stick but there's always something to laugh at and a good sense of humor about the stupid things in comic books and I'm always up for some meta humor about how stupid these universes are. Great performances throughout too
This tv shows is great!
I really like this series!
amazing series from dc.must watch
With S1 done, I can say it'll be one of my best of 2022 watches for sure. Violent, gory FUN. Holy cow Season 1 was so good and the soundtrack rocks. Bring on S2.
Bonus points for pissing off insufferable DC gatekeepers with the finale
First show a watch intro every single time.
2022 is turning out to be a year of great TV shows. Peacemaker is the goofy, dark and funny superhero show I didn't know I needed in my life. Awesome!!!
Amazing show that uses sci-fi, action and comedy to talk about the sociopolitical clusterfuck we are in today. James Gunn fucking goes off offering some of his best directed work in the second half of this. Amazing characters and performances as well. Really good show coming off of a really good movie.
Very similar to The Boys I think. But still great!
this show is not for everyone
i'm really enjoying it
marvel fan boys get the fuck out
So far this is some serious gold. Amazing show. That opening credit, very original. Supper funny jokes. Good writing & story telling. They even pull off the inclusion angle extremely well without making it WOKE or all the SJW shit. Highly recommend it.
So far I'm finding it fun and enjoyable! I wasn't a massive fan of The Suicide Squad but I'm enjoying this more
okay I'll admit at first glance I thought this show was a action but it turned out to be a comedy which really isn't bad but it's not what I expected I expected a heart pounding action show like the suicide squad but hey that didn't happen but it's a good show for what it is and that's what makes it unique
Fun characters, a lot of humor, defintetely gonna stay around for this one.
Also be aware that there are After Credit Scenes!
First time enjoying something from DC in a while, its nothing original but it's still pretty entertaining to watch
I m loving it best 2022 show yet
Could have been decent, but then I saw the lead actor is John Cena :face_vomiting:
Ok someone has to say it, the goofy dancing, the serious faces, the music ... those title credits are the best of every episode ... I love them!
Kick Ass Meets DC Meets Tarantino - James Gunn Is A Genius - Peacemaker The Guy You Hate In Suicide Squad To The Guy You Want To Hug - First Three Episodes Were Unexpected Action Packed & Hilarious - Not What I Was Expecting At All But I Loved It Even In The Corny Moments - Colorful Characters And Got To Love Vigilante The Unwanted Sidekick
This Show Is Definitely Not Safe For Kids
Makes me want to cancel my Disney subscription. Quality over quantity! Do remember when Disney had the best movie storylines... what happened? Can make an interesting TV show story? Seems not... Please don't ruin a successful franchise.
Second time watching. Has everything: humor, action, heroes, villains, aliens, characters that develop, music (and best title sequence!), Vigilante, dyed beard - and an eagle.
Looking forward to season 2.
Watched 2 episodes so far... And uhm.... Wow. Extreme over the top in every possible way.
But it's so terrible that it's actually funny.
Quite a few famous faces in supporting roles and guest staring.
Don't expect anything even remotely serious though.
Michael Bay + Quentin Tarantino = James Gunn
Gunn managed to add so many layers to this series. Peacemaker is almost a critique of modern American culture. The Butterflies represent the left and White Dragon the right. Both mindlessly follow their leaders and lose track of humanity in the process. The show takes us on an emotional journey as everyone tries to reconcile different parts of their personality. DC seems to finally have found the way to compete with Marvel!
It doesn't appear in the widget and I don't know how to configure it.
I was doubting giving this such a high rating, but upon rewatch, I realised how much I missed the characters. I love James Gunns comicness. It gives me hope for the DCU. They managed to compact so many genres and storylines in one series alone. The humour amongst the acting just cheers me up. The soundtrack and the action and the cgi make me want to jump. It's one of the only DCEU things I look forward to rewatching. I can't wait for season 2.
funny and entertaining i liked it
PEACEMAKER is GREAT, 9/10 :star:
one word from me SUCKS.
this was brilliant loved every episode
Yes, we could skip the intro, but Eagly trying to land his mark tickles me every time.
I was surprised, I expected it to be garbage but it was funny and entertaining. I should have known not to bet against HBO, they rarely disappoint. If you like The Boys, this is right up your alley.
Good Show, FUNNY. John Cena always Delivers...Most of the time anyways lol.
I know I'm not the first to say it, but the opening of this show is the greatest opening in the history of shows. Not only did I never skip it once, I even repeated it a few times. The show rules too, of course!
No room for characters and moments to truly breathe in shows and movies these days - that makes an episode less enjoyable. This does have woke but it actually works for the characters/show in this one. Entertaining & decent quality to pass the time - think of it as a lower quality version of Amazon's 'The Boys' but still a good watch. Story is decent in every episode but again wish scenes could last longer so that you can feel impact. Watch if you like Legends of Tomorrow.
Title credits are the best title credits I have seen in a long time. I have an ambivalent reaction always to James Gunn's superhero movies. Usually I like the concepts and the strong beginnings and development, but most of the time by the end there's something lacking. I didn't like his Suicide Squad so I gave Peacemaker a chance only because my friends liked it very much and they kept suggesting it to me. It has solid performances and a kickass soundtrack, very enjoyable. The climax at the end is a little meh, but the character work is good.
Super fun and brutal masterpiece from James Gunn.
Nothing serious though, treat it that way and you will enjoy it a lot!
“Peacemaker” is as dumb as a mid-budget redneck superhero TV show can possibly get. Despite the jokes being somewhat hit or miss, John Cena’s character can be surprisingly likable, and not just in a guilty pleasure kind of meaning. Things get particularly good in the middle when some proper team-building with the supporting cast starts to happen. I mean, they even get us to like two minor characters from "The Suicide Squad" I don't even recall seeing.
The action sequences are short but impactful, something in between a horror invasion B-movie and the gorefest we have already witnessed in “The Suicide Squad”. Despite the numerous DC references, the show is actually closer to Gunn’s early material: both the countryside setting and the Butterfly menace instantly reminded me of “Slither”, and so is the overall low-budget feeling.
The family issues and psychological bits felt a little rushed, but maybe there will be more space for that in the next seasons? (I highly doubt it)
I know it's only about Peacemaker, but its nothing compared to the funny dumb humor that Suicide Squad had, this is just stupid for the sake of being stupid. Like an elementary school kid that just had an anatomy class and has to repeat the word penis every 5 seconds.
I've seen bad USA humor, but this is just cringe, only the action scenes are worth it really but damn, it's a hard watch, having to beare everyone making a penis or vagina joke every damn minute, and it's not even witty like other stupid humorous things such as South Park or Kick Ass (which is amazing), or even something actually clever like The Boys, this one is just cringe and stupid
its weird when i saw the poster
it didnt made be believe this was worth watching
but guess we cant look only for the poster
i ended enjoying the show very much, and im not sure there is a second season but it would be nice
S1 is awesome! Great cast (John Cena is top notch throughout), enjoyable episodes, excellent humour and those opening credits are simply phenomenal - one of my all-time favourites, up there with Game of Thrones and the like. Highly recommended, and I look forward to S2.

I've just finished the series and I don't have words to describe how amazing this show is. The soundtrack, the action, the violence, the jokes, the characters, the CGI, the chemistry are all 10/10. Besides the amazing acting from John Cena, I really loved Freddie Stroma's character Vigilante, which can see having a spin-off in the future.
Warner and DC really found their "gold mine" with James Gunn and I'm glad they are giving him the freedom to create anything he wants.
Peacemaker now is anti-hero and I can't wait to see more of him and the 11th Street Kids!
PS: I still cannot belive that part of the Justice League appeared in the last scene basically to confirm Aquaman f**** fish...
