1x01 To the Stars

Interesting pilot episode. Those old couple seem to have all the time to figure it out, and I seem to have all the time to watch them do it :grin:

J.K. Simmons (and the lovely Sissy Spacek) back in the smaller screen with an emotional banger? My tears are ready!

Oh, and to those of you who still got grandparents around (lucid, senile, or otherwise), go give them a hug after watching this. I know I would, if I could.

Solid performances by the leads can't possibly overcome a script that is slower than slow. This is not how you do a pilot episode, and Simmons is the only reason why I'll be back for more. I hope that the pacing improves soon or even Simmons won't be enough to keep me around.

A good first episode. An interesting storyline with solid performances from the cast. Not the fastest moving of shows, but not all programmes have to be shot at a blistering pace. The steady pace give you a chance to get to know the characters a bit better as the story unfolds. I’m looking forward to watching the next episode.

And I thought Outer Range was slow... holy cow... I like Sissy Spacek and love J.K. Simmons, but they can't carry this show. 5 minutes of plot stretch over an hour just doesn't cut it.

I get it, they are old. They are borderline senile, handicapped, etc. And deeply in love. I don't need 45 minutes of it. 5 or 10 minutes would have more than enough to establish their condition and relationship.

We did get to see a stereotypical millennial in action. Twice! Way to fail ladies. Way to fail...
