The premiere isn't the most unified storytelling, but it's just lovely to be back in this world again that I still find it entrancing nonetheless. And in retrospect after this episode, it feels like the show easing us back into the story first before ramping up the intensity with this one that belongs wholly to Lila. It's basically a showcase for both Lila character's mixture of strength/vulnerability and Gaia Girace's heartbreaking performance, which make it among the show's very best. That last shot also reminds me of how I love the show most when it returns to the relationship between Elena and Lila, which is always complex and affecting.
