Still as great and gorgeous as ever. But now that the characters are all fully young adults, there is no easing into its examination of toxic patriarchy like the first season (with some characters we have seen since they're children also participating in it now), and to see Lila of all people getting the full blunt of it is so upsetting. Which makes the central friendship all the more moving and heartbreakingly necessary. I'm looking forward to how they will defy their situations together for the rest of the season (although, from the season teaser, not to Elena's future hairdo lol).
