Completely original and different from anything Marvel has done yet and probably the best Phase 4 show or movie alongside 'Shang-Chi', 'WandaVision', 'Loki' and 'Hawkeye'. The hate on this seems entirely contrived and based around the fact that the series is about a teenage girl, a teenage girl that is Pakistani, and about a teenage girl that is Pakistani that doesn't have exactly the same powers as she does in the comics. As if comics don't retcon all the time and Pakistani teenage girls don't exist.
Iman Vellani is super charismatic and entertaining. The inclusion and slice of life writing are compelling alongside creative direction and cinematography. More of this please Marvel and less of whatever the hell 'Love and Thunder' and 'Multiverse of Madness' were!
Way better then expected. People will complain about the character race and religion but besides that it is a watchable sign of the new times . But here is a story as well and way better then thrash serie Shehulk (Shehulk judged from trailer)
Ms. Marvel episode 1 impressions: First of all, why is Disney shooting these Marvel shows with a 2.35:1 aspect ratio? Shows meant to be shown exclusively on 16:9 displays. It's rather annoying. Especially after they made their huge marketing push of having 16:9 open matted versions of the Marvel movies on Disney+ with the "IMAX Enhanced" label. Seems really backwards to have the Marvel movies in 16:9 and the shows at a wider aspect ratio.
Second biggest problem: WTF did they do to her powers? This isn't faithful to the comics at all. Why is her ability this weird energy crystal power instead of polymorphing? And instead of getting her powers from having Inhuman genes, they made her get her powers from magic bracelets? It's like if they made Spider-Man shoot lasers instead of webs. She might as well be a totally different character.
In fact, making the source of her powers come from magic instead of from a genetic modification is a hilarious blunder as magic is considered haram in Islam. They might as well have made her a super fundamentalist Christian superhero who gets her powers from witchcraft.
I could excuse the strange casting choices that made Kamala and Bruno look too young compared to their comic counterparts if it weren't for the fact they ruined her powers. The constant shapeshifting body horror of the comics was central to Kamala's character.
For me this is another hatewatch just like the Halo series. Like Halo, while it has some things that appeal to fans of the original lore, it has many other aspects that drag it down and make it difficult to fully enjoy the show.
MODERATOR EDIT: Be more respectful.
After about 6 minutes. That's all i could take. Holy bad acting and over the top. Very pain full to watch
The last wave of Marvel's tv shows taught us to not judge a book by its cover first episodes.
But as someone under 30, it felt like a zit was going to grew on my face just by watching this.
It's so weird to see Muslims being represented in the media, not negatively. It's so refreshing, and it allows sharing some traditions people don't get to see. Even though I'm not Pakistani, it's very welcoming to see something positive for a change. I'm learning to about south Asian culture at the same time. Great show and something original for once!
Older than the target audience, but loving the lead and fun animations. It’s light and captures that teen energy well. Excited to see where this will go.
Could've been better. Just mid. Also why is her powers way different from what I saw on Avngers Assemble way back? I thought she was Marvel's "Elastigirl" or something... And also I think this show is targeted at kids.
It’s cool to learn more about the Muslim and Pakistani cultures and see how much care they had for such representation, but it feels like this show is more worried about those aspects than about developing any of its characters or giving us a compelling story.
I'm clearly not the show's target audience as it feels like this one was made with a teenager audience in mind, but I'll give them credit for at least injecting some personality to this show by coming up with interesting use of motion graphics blended in with the live-action footage to show things like text messages, etc.
Unlike the other Marvel series that have come out, I'm definitely not the target audience of this show. Just like almost every other show that has teenagers as it's audience, so many bits are way overdramatized. That being said, for what it is, it looks good, but that's really hard to judge seeing as I don't actually like it. Hopefully this show doesn't connect to the main universe/story line so I won't feel like I'm missing something as I'm not watching this anymore.
I really enjoyed it. Its not the best marvel show, but it is for sure worth a watch.
And I know how much it means to feel represented.
People complaining about it not being faithful to the comics can kiss my inhuman ass, because she has the gene.
nothing really groubreaking, but at this point is really not possible to do the "person discovers powers and becomes superhero" in a way that feels new, so it's alright.
it's just a good story, nothing that you will be speechless about but it doesn't have to be.
Nice implications at the very end for the rest of the MCU though, will definitely make things much more interesting.
"Ms. Marvel" is a TV show that is not bad, but not particularly good either. I appreciate that the main protagonist is not your typical cis white male, but it is very clear that the target audience is children. The writing is simplistic and not particularly intelligent. As it is a Disney show, it is to be expected that it would be geared towards a younger audience. However, for someone looking for a more complex and mature story, it may fall short.
The only Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) TV show that stood out to me in terms of its refreshing approach was WandaVision. The rest of the shows in the franchise, including Ms. Marvel, are mediocre in comparison.
Strong beginning and then the show fell apart. The show has the potential to be great. I have hope for next season.
horrible just horrible dont waste your time .
watch a 5 min video that explains her story and be done with it
The series I was least looking forward to turned out to be one of Marvel’s best so far!
It’s a lot better than some of the other entries of Phase 4.
Can’t wait to see more of Kamala Khan!
I hope they build her character up over the next few year's, so if Kang kills her people will cry in the cinema at the loss. But I doubt I would.
This series is a lot of fun. Iman Vallani is charming as the teenage superhero. There is a great supporting cast. The story arc is true to course and the threat is convincing. The writers also spent considerable effort to capture the culture and history of Kamala Khan’s community which I found fascinating. I found this an all round entertaining project which should appeal to a wide range of ages, but especially younger audiences. I give this series a 7 (good) out of 10. [Superhero Adventure]
When I prefer to fast foward scenes in several episodes it only means one thing...
As usual, the internet acted ridiculous the way it was divided between people who said this was the best MCU-property and those who claimed it is the worst. The truth is: it's fiiiiiiinnneeeee (as most things are) and kind of fun. I expected a show with too much Gen Z-bullcrap, but it wasn't that bad. Of course this is targeted more at teenagers, than at a 32 year old like myself, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The visuals are amazing, especially in the first few episodes, but later there are some questionable CGI-moments. It also made me laugh a couple times and it's nice to see a different culture for once.
The story is... okay, but kind of confusing. Who is the main bad guy? I still don't know. It could've benefited from a bit more focus there. Also, don't introduce a character, let him explain a lot of important stuff to Kamala and then kill him off 5 seconds later. That's annoying. Built up that relationship a bit more. I know they only had 6 episodes, but come on... Focus! The only point of Damage Control was the (amazing) high school end fight, which gave me Home Alone-vibes btw, but that whole storyline added nothing. The time they wasted with them, could've been spent flushing out the rest of the story and relationships to give everything a bit more weight. The opponent in the high school could've been the ClanDestines in that scenario. But hey, that isn't what we got...
I like that Kamala will join The Marvels, because I like her more as a character than Carol Danvers. This show is just a solid set up for that.
Desi, Uneventful, Mediocre
Ms. Marvel is a dull, lackluster and at times tiring product from the MCU. The show though is very colorful and imaginative with a ton of "style" to it and has some beautiful Indian scores to please the south Asian section of the world. The story isn't engaging as it tries to become and thus loses steam very early. The Drama itself is unvaried and the Indo-Pakistani references and dialogues may just appeal to the western audience but don't do the same for Indians I felt. Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel looked promising in the first few episodes but slowly loses her charm and ends up with an ordinary performance overall. The other characters feel underused and unexplored except Bruno, played by Matt Lintz who is smart, and outright geek, and possessive about his friendship with Kamala. Overall, Ms. Marvel is a forgettable introduction of a Marvel Superhero into MCU, with a dull script, mediocre visual effects, and a childish portrayal of bigger issues.

really bad series. the acting is not good, the directing is not good, if not for marvel i wouldn't have finished this series. luckily there are only 6 episodes. i hope they don't continue it.
This show was ok at best. It could have been done in 4 episodes. With that said. What is up with the last episode? They just drop one guy off with superpowers and don't mention him again. Then all of a sudden we discover Kamala is a mutant. They even drove it home with the X-Men theme song from the 90's cartoon. It just felt so off. It was like the writer recently watched the 1st Harry Potter movie. They basically kicked the door open at the end of the show and said Harry you're a wizard. :D
Overall nothing was settled at the end of the show. Then you throw in the after-credits scene. What in the hell happened there?
This is a mediocre joke. Disney should reconsider their shows strategy
Is this produced by Marvel or CW? Its so cheesy and bland. I guess I’m not the target demographic :man_shrugging_tone1:
Vellani was good as Kamala Khan but overall I don’t think this show was aimed at my age range.
Too Teeny Bopperish just like Star Girl and Legacies. It's like High school all over again. Just can't do it
I didn't like it. I'm actually sorry Marvel created this
This show has to be WORST thing marvel has ever released.
it feels like an Indian or Pakistani movie or TV show with western stuff rammed into it. it's truly an awful show trying so hard to do something but accomplishes nothing. The racial stereotypes in this show are annoying too not all desi families act like this... it further pushes stereotypes on to it's viewers which causes more racism.
I think the best word I can use is "bland". As others have mentioned the fundamentals of the main characters' development and relationship with each other were far removed from the comics. No one was expecting an Emmy-caliber show but neither were we expecting a contender for a Golden Raspberry. A very poor effort from Marvel.
sigh...if it weren't for the fact that this is going to lead into The Marvel's I wouldn't have watched this. CGI was mid, story was God awful, the jokes were cringe, and the Pakistani-Indian backstory was forced. And the thing is, I'm Indian and wanted to be a good representation of the culture but it's not good at all. Action scenes were bad too...and the bad guy plot literally meant nothing. The last episode with the community solidarity was nice but since the whole show was bad the ending piece had no effect for me. sigh. One of the worst MCU additions. I wish good luck for Ms. Marvel and for the actress for the next role.
Every episode was weak and didn't really got better in the end.
A very wrong portrayal of religion. Islam is definitely not how it's presented here. That's why it's always better to avoid religion specific movies and shows as they have a very weird way to narrate those. This one is no different. A good show but messed up with the wrong elements.
Not my type of show, bare that in mind. The material they went off for this show seems alot better then past projects. The cgi was okay but the jokes were alot better. The pacing once again was awful. Everything happened in the last episode and just killed the whole series off. The graphics design went wild though.
Coming-of-age story that begins strong but ends somewhat disappointing.
There are multiple references to the 'partition' early on, that are somewhat explained throughout the story, but it wouldn't hurt to look up 'Partition of India' beforehand.
I love that Marvel is diversifying their productions. The story of a Pakistani-American Muslim character's experience, which rarely appears in mainstream American media, is presented authentically, and I enjoyed the exploration of South Asian culture and history. While a singular character cannot fully represent such a large demographic, Kamala represents one family's story in a genuine way. The show also creates its unique identity through visuals and aesthetics to distinguish itself from other MCU productions. Everything else, however, is pretty average for a post-Endgame MCU production. The story itself fails to stand out; I found it to be generic and unengaging. The teenage elements were excessive and difficult to watch.
For Nickelodeon's version kids, for a one-time viewing is also difficult ))
the first Muslim superhero girl in marvel wow that's nice but why did they put somethings that not true at all like They want to offend us indirectly, that's clear but Anyway, we know who we are 8,5/10
Very cute and fun, genuinely enjoyed it and the last episode was the best of the entire show!
Intended audience probably around 8-12 years old.
First two episodes were so good, the whole show should have been like that. But it turns into a generic superhero show with some of the worst villains ever.
Placement of Ms. Marvel in an ethnic sheath at moments came out much better than Shang-Chi or all that Wakanda. :)
Having no previous point of reference - because I stopped reading comics when I was a kid - I enjoyed this.
Can’t believe they changed her powers. Not even close to being her power set in the comic
Can’t believe they changed her powers. Not even close to being her power set in the comic
It was very hard to get through this. If marvel keeps going this route, the people will lose interest on this universe. All the heroes saga will come to an end the same way the mafia and western films did in the last century.
Just watched this to make sure I don't miss anything in the mcu. But sadly enough this was the worst up till now. I expected more of it.
If you expect me to spread hate on the teen drama elements, I’m sorry to disappoint you. That was actually the only decent thing. It’s when the bad guys and superpowers come into play that the show starts to fall apart. The first two episodes are well constructed, giving enough space to the characters and even throwing in some interesting visual ideas like drawing and text messages appearing on screen, emojis materializing on neon signs, etc. Then from the third episode, it all turns into yet another cookie-cutter Disney+ show, going through the usual mandatory plot points as quickly as possible and setting the stakes ridiculously high in a lazy attempt to create tension without spending time to build things up properly. It gets slightly better in the last episode, but unfortunately, the show failed to fulfill its fresh and lighthearted premise.
A lot of preliminary reviews panned this show, saying that it "wasn't for them". Which is a dumb excuse to give the show a low rating; just because it isn't your type of show, doesn't mean it's bad.
If I were still a teenager, I would think Ms. Marvel was the coolest show ever! Why wouldn't I? I latched onto Spider-Man pretty hard as a kid, so why wouldn't I also see myself in Kamala Khan? A teen who deals with familial pressures, crushes, and nerdy tendencies... Sounds like someone I knew.
Now as an adult, I think Ms. Marvel is one of the most fun MCU shows to date. Kamala is relatable, and Iman Vellani did a great job portraying that childlike wonder of a teenager who receives superpowers. I love how this show is deeply steeped in the character's Pakistani roots, and how family and history play an important part. Heck, I don't even mind how they modified her powers for the MCU; it actually works better on-screen than a live action Elastigirl (which might have better suited a movie's budget rather than a TV show). The plot might not be crystal clear at times, but it's a good time with some good characters.

Ms Marvel
Will Return in
The Marvels
JULY 28th
2023
Given that this appears to be aimed at a teen market it is one of the most mature Marvel properties. Fully fleshed out relationship and characters whom you can care for. Great to see different cultures represented and not a caricature playing with preconceptions.
Iman Vellani is a revelation and great casting and her whole family a delight and would happily just watch and episode around their dinner table.
Maybe it dropped the ball a little towards the end and some of the motives a little unclear but overall probably the best of the Marvel TV shows along with Wandavision so far.
Very childish my 9 year's old thinks it's great
This may be my favourite MCU show and in my top three post Endgame things. I loved how commited it was to the bit: a teen comedy that tackles specific themes from beginning to end, even when it has to show more superhero stuff (which is perfectly integrated in the general tone). So it's not the usual "let's promise something that will be there for 20 minutes and we will then spend three hours doing crossovers with other stuff. Which also means that when the crossovers come they work better because they don't feel out of place (and even when they are kinda out of place they are not annoying, because it's just a small homage, a dialogue in the final minutes, that kind of stuff). It's not perfect but it's really good and it's really good at doing the thing it's trying to do. It's not like Hawkeye, which felt like an A.I. was desperatyely trying to write a Shane Black script. The visual style, the directing, everything works and feels contextualized. Iman Vellani is so charming and the whole cast is really lovely. Generally speaking, it maybe doesn't reach the highs of Wandavision (but it also doesn't plummet to its lows) and it's not as consistent as Loki, but I really really liked it, I had fun, it even genuinely moved me here and there.
This is definitely one of the Marvel shows I've watched. The pacing was pretty good until episode 5 where it dove off a cliff and didn't come back. It felt like the writers got reminded the show only had 6 episodes after finishing ep 4 and they had to wrap it up in the most neck breaking way possible. A shame really cause I really liked the cast.
cinematography : 3/3
acting:3/3
storytelling:2/3
enjoyment:1/1
9/10
I believe that the pilot was rejected from Nickelodeon as too childish then Disney+ scooped in and said, give it too me I can do it !
This show it's so fun and I'm excited for kamala khan she's cute.and it's new show talking a muslim super hero it's cool and fun.i love iman she is so cute and adorable.
A fun show overall with dazzling visuals, but unfortunately it felt so unbalanced with a set up that dragged far too long for Kamala and one dimensional villains that had no backstory or character arcs whatsoever. Tho Kamala is such a refreshing character to see in the MCU and I'm looking forward to see more of her!
As a marvel show,it seemed a little bit off the track and quite childish. But the familial concepts and emotions were more than any other marvel movies or shows.A touch Pakistani (Indian subcontinent) culture were executed well.Didn't feel like made by people from foreign culture.
In and all, I'll not say it wasted my time.I rather enjoyed it fully. But Marvel should focus on a bit better approach in its upcoming projects.
Like a lot of the Marvel TV spin offs it starts with some intrigue and deteriorated into averageness which feels more like mediocrity with the repetitiveness of Marvels formula.
Extra complaint that the audio mixing here seems particularly bad with quiet talking and mumbling.
I actually think it’s commendable the inclusion of a different culture in Marvel but just wish it wasn’t such an average show otherwise.
5.5/10
:heart:x7
The more I watched the show, the more it grew on me.
It's different from all the other Marvel TV projects. It's endearing and sweet. Not sure if its the actor Iman Venali or the character Kamala that is so adorable. It's probably a bit of both.
I also learned a little bit about the India Pakistan partition. Not sure I ever learned about that in school.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
This checks all the marvel movie/show checkboxes. We've got the humor, the cheesy dialogs where everyone says they trust each other and if you just believe in yourself you can be whatever you want, the crossovers to other shows/movies, the post-credits scene and of course it takes itself way too seriously. If you are into marvel stuff you might wanna watch this but imo it is worse than other shows.
Very colourful, I love it
I wish New Jersey was real
I think the end credit scene for the show will be Kamala meeting Carol Danvers or captain Marvel in the end and says they will return :joy::joy:
quite good first episode, its a very "teen" series, but fun and with an absolutely awesome attention to details connecting her mind with the world we see, it reminded me of something like "mitchells vs the machines" with the stop motion youtube video and the overlays on the world. Its not my favorite series from marvel, but i am quite happy and anxious to see the next episodes.
It s a teen show not the target so no note
I loved it. And it's a show I can watch with my kid, that loves Ms.Marvel.
Honestly, they did much better than I expected. It started out terrible but got better through the episode. They didn't do as well as the comics to capture the minutiae of the relationships between Kamala and her family. Some character introductions (Nakia) and relationships (Kamala x Bruno) felt super rushed and I am not super enthused about how she gets her powers. Overall though, it looks like they gave it a good whirl and got close. I'd rate this similar to Marvel's The Runaways. Solidly mid-tier show.
Ep 2 Update: The music and art direction are absolutely top-notch. I wish some of this music would be tracks to my life haha. Still, it's sappy high school stuff. Plus, the comics must have spoiled me because the character development still feels rushed. But, I have given in to the cheese at this point. Def enjoying it but staying with my rating of 7/10.
Ep 3 Update: What’s up with the Clandestines? If they had asked nicely once more, she would have literally handed the bracelet over. They didn’t have to go ape instantly? Terrible motivation. Also, where’s Dr. Strange? Dude shows up instantly for Thor and Loki but lets inter-dimensional beings be for generations? What has the TVA been up to? (I am sure I’ll find out in a 20-min explainer that no, the inter-dimensional being’s presence doesn’t fuck up the holy timeline at all.). Shit lore. They can make anything fly at this point. Such a pity too, because the human part of the superhuman show is getting so much better. The relationship-building leading up to the pinnacle of a wedding ceremony hard-carries this episode just as the “super” part tanks 100x. Still rushed af. She goes to Karachi in like the 3rd or 4th run in the comics. She’s already headed there in the 4th episode. Downgrading to a 6. Ought to be a 5, but mad props to the humans, the music, and the art direction.
I don’t think it gets better or worse from here, so I am settling on this rating.

I am loving this, now 3 episodes in. I remember reading the comics when they first came out and they hit me like a ton of bricks as being so different and fresh then. I grew up with my best friend being from a Sri Lankan family and was very aware of the different cultural elements at play and the comics captured this for me wonderfully with Kamala and Bruno.
Now in episode 3, after initial jarring of the change to the source of powers, I'm getting the same feels from the TV series and it's just beautiful. Kamala's Dad's speech to her brother was just wonderful.
Re: powers - I get it. In the comics Kamala was an Inhuman - the source of her power here is different as Inhumans have a different place in the MCU but I still don't get why the nature of the power had to change. If the bracelet is like a key then the effects seem rather redundant.
