Between the disquieting wait in the examination room, the syringe, the cryptic phone call, and running from convicts and cops at the same time, the prison sequence felt like something ripped out of a Max Payne game. Even the taxi patiently waiting outside, despite the whole prison turning into a war zone around it, felt like a save point that would trigger a cutscene for the next level. What a tremendous ride that was, that one scene alone merits a perfect 10 for this episode.
In addition to that, Foggy's coup with the Police Union, Karen crossing multiple lines, and Dex slipping into dark territory were also very well done and serve as the next series of build ups after Matt's own investigation exploded in his face.
I think this is going to be my favorite one shot scene of all three. I especially liked, that they didn't end it at the conversation, but went with it further. That was a nice, fat 10 minutes single shot. applause
H O L Y S H I T ! ! !
11 minutes long, one shot action scene was insane.
Code 33. Code 33. Code 33. "The prison is in a state of emergency" - The fighting scenes in the prison are phenomenal. The camera movement in these scenes is absolutely outstanding. This episode remains in memory! I am still enthusiastic. :D
This show just keep getting better.
Fisk is a brilliant piece of shit.
I love Jessica Jones. Iron Fist started getting good. Luke Cage is a pile of rubbish. But this show. This show is actually good. The fight choreography and camera work. I love how Matt Murdock actually gets fatigued. Instead of going for 20 minutes and still as energetic as ever. The prison scene. Wow! Dinofrio (sp) is the perfect Fisk. Hopefully he'll show up in Hawkeye.
Where to even begin with this one? Brilliant from start to finish. And the prison sequence was just on another level. The stunt work is no doubt exceptional, but the camera work too makes you feel like you’re right there with them. I was almost feeling claustrophobic watching Matt struggle to get out. Poor guy has the whole world against him. Also, Fisk and Dex’s dynamic is quickly becoming one of my favorites. They’re just too good together. Can’t wait to see Matt thrown into that mix. It would be explosive.
The prison scene is amazing, start to finish. Matt stealing Foggy's wallet for entrance. Going in without letting be seen he's blind. Bluffing the guard. The talk with Michael. The annoying paperwork that turns into a trap. Fight. Fisk's call, showing he's clearly still running everything. Fight again. Talk with Vic. And then the long fight that ensues, the total chaos and escape, fighting both cops and inmates.
Every moment of this is great, not only the fights, but the talks, the negotiation with the Albanians, the proof that Fisk is still in control. And the fights are killer.
Assuming he was injected with really little seeing how long he held on. Just one bemol: what a stupid way to try to get rid of him...
And so Fisk not only orchestrated his stabbing, but he still is informed in real time that Matt is at the prison, can order a lot of people in there, and make this kind of calls despite being, supposedly, under surveillance.
I can't tell whether the rest of the episode was really dull, or if it was just in comparison.
Karen is acting a bit crazy. What did she have to gain by harassing the woman at her home instead of waiting for her appointment the day after ? What was the point ?
THAT PRISON SCENE.
This episode is a shining example of what a superhero show should look and feel like. The other Defenders should’ve taken note. Bravo.
Wow, that one shot.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
I can't imagine how much practice was needed in order to nail this thing. Just wow
That scene, ohhh that scene
Best fight scene i ever saw!
Insane, for sure one of the greatest fight scenes ever!
Fuck!! This was so intense.
I don't know who is more desperate to put Fisk on prison, Foggy, Karen or Matt.
I just hope no one of them died at the end trying that.
How can this show be THAT good?
These onetake hallway fight scenes just keep getting better and better each time.
How did Fisk get access to Cameras? Phone? They only show him sitting at an empty table or empty room. Does not match the story.
Loving this season, feels like a return to season 1's strengths
This was the best episode of the season so far! Those single-take scenes, especially the fight scenes were lit!:fire:
Matt returns home, puts on a suit and heads to the prison pretending to be Foggy to get some inside information. He is punched in the face by an inmate and is required to see a nurse before leaving. The nurse attempts to inject Matt but he knocks the nurse out. Fisk calls the prison and talks to Matt. Matt then fights his way through the prison to freedom with the help of the Albanians who want Matt to put Fisk back in prison. Filmed to look like a one-shot sequence was truly amazing! Foggy tells Karen that Matt is alive and she flips. Foggy announces he's running for district attorney in front of his opponent. Matt wakes up in the cab with a new driver who jumps out as it's moving and the cab drives off the dock into water.
Prison sequence is absolutely amazing. Great job.
This episode alone is better than a whole season of Iron Fist, no wait, actually it's easily better than the whole Iron Fist series. Daredevil keeps getting better while the other Marvel Netflix shows did tumble for worse.
Good episode, but still, Daredevil didn't ask Vik about why Fisk is targeting the Albanian especially?! I think this part of the episode was really stupid!
Terrific season so far. Possibly the best.
Things finally start moving.
D'Onofrio has a presence that's threatening to burst the screen.

Where's my breath?!
Things really explode in episode 4. The previous two episodes did feel a lot like a build up to something, and that 'something' is one hell of a detonation.
I'm really liking the storyline of Dex so far, especially when you get extraordinary scenes like the one involving CCTV. The way those deep, cold eyes stared into the camera was unbelievable and sent shivers down my spine. I just can't get over how amazing Vincent D'Onofrio is as Fisk.
I just have to mention the fight scene though. This is, without a doubt, my favourite long take fight scene of the show. It's just pure adrenaline that doesn't seem to end. It's even more realistic than the hallway scene in season 1. The effort and preparation they put into this must be off the Richter scale. Well, it looks like the show's going to pick up another Emmy nod for stuntwork... ...and just when you think your jaw couldn't fall any lower, the episode ends like THAT and proves you wrong, sending your jaw to another world. I guess it's lucky these don't release weekly, because I wouldn't be able to handle the week after this ending.
Seriously impressive stuff; I'm addicted.
