It's like it never went away  So far liking the new characters and delighted Sam Waterston has reprised his iconic role of Jack McCoy. Was a wonderful surprise to see Jamie Ross again but I wish the episode had ended with her and Jack sharing a drink about the preceding case, even if it would have just been fan service - they exchanged looks in the court room but it didn't really feel like they had a scene together (I suspect they were filmed separately). I hope we get to see many more familiar faces as the season goes on.

svu was my first entry into this franchise so i'm excited to be able to get into the series with this return. this was a genuinely enjoyable episode. it's much more structured with the police vs the district attorneys' presence on screen as i'm used to with svu but it's so enjoyable in its own way and it's clear how this series made for an entire franchise of spin-offs if the new season is truly like the past seasons. also, HUGH DANCY!!

I love how this show makes me question what justice is. An excellent return.

An interesting episode with some pretty remarkable similarities to S5E3, “Blue Bamboo,” and S1E11, “Out of the Half-Light.”
