As someone who talked with someone with high functioning autism who did not understand sex, in spite of being taught and having it, and who was obsessed with having kids - I highly disagree with Katie being allowed to keep her child. It being one without Down syndrome, what fun he’ll have once he gets older and needs strangers to teach him the ways of life because his mother (and stepdad) doesn’t grasp it fully.
That being said, Katie’s mom clearly should’ve been less protective of her. She was capable of more than she was allowed, even if I don’t think that should involve children.
I really loved this episode. I watched it like years ago, and still remembered parts of it. It stuck with me more than most.
