One thing I have never understood is why did the producers of the show cast Neal as the new ADA when Cabot left after she had played such a memorable role, and not that long after doing so in this episode. I wish that someone would explain that to me.
Has the longest courtroom section in the show so far. I like that the show is experimental like that. While the original Law and Order had higher quality episodes, this show is more experimental. So far at least.
It's pretty crazy that Diane Neal plays one of the prominent suspects in this episode, and then goes on to become part of the principal cast a few years later (as a totally unrelated character, obviously). I guess they really bank on the fact that L&O is such an episodic show, that what happens episode-to-episode is not terribly important.
Stabler being so against the idea that men can be raped seems wildly out of character to me. But I guess they had to have someone voice the dissenting opinion, and Benson would've made even less sense.

A very good episode showing that rape is about consentiment.
