Unfortunately no head writer will ever match the brilliance of Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Season 2 had its moments, but it lacked the spark that made season 1 so damn addictive. I hope season 3 and the new showrunner bring us something fresh and exciting cause right now it's mostly the performances that are keeping me watching, the writing less so. Still, this episode was kind of promising and Kenny's death might open up some interesting storylines.

Oh Kenny no :(
A pretty standard season opener I'd say. Nothing overly special. Hopefully now the pieces are in place we can get back on form as the episodes continue.
I enjoyed the bait and switch of expectation there. When it looked like Eve was living in Korea.

Oh my god! they killed Kenny!

I'm so hyped that this is back on TV and so devastated they killed Kenny. He deserved better.

Not bad, but definitely the worst episode of this show so far. Didn’t really like anything about it other than the last few minutes. Everything else just wasn’t really working for me.

Did they really change writers for the third time? Maybe better after that clusterfuck of a second season, but I wonder where the writers want to take this show? The only way it can end is with Villanelle killing Eve, but that would be the most boring ending ever.

how did villanelle convince someone she was a normal person so well and for long enough they would agree to get married?

Just an average episode until the end.

The dynamic between Eve and Kenny has always been one of my favorites on the show. Now that's gone, so I'm... bye.

Oh hot damn. This episode gave me goosebumps.

Finally, a Russian assassin who wasn't formally trained as a ballerina!

Well it was far better than the reviews would have me believe. It's odd humour is still there and it made me wanna watch the next episode which is surely the idea. With the reviews it is almost like it is trendy to slate it.

That was really quite flat. I hope it's just for the first episode to get things back on track. I know they changed writers for the third time.

Eve struggling with the ennui of life, getting vietnamese junk food, smelling her armpits, chewing out the coworkers for believing a lie, and chopping chicken, was the best thing about this.

Vilanelle's scenes lacked their normal "cringey sprinkle" feel. And the humor was missing. No twinkle in her eyes as she did her latest kill.

And I don't really care about Masha. Also found it unrealistic some one would be clamoring to hire a most un-tameable V. You really can't put a leash on her, as Eve discovered.

There goes the only likable character in the series. No, wait. I really like Konstantin. Maybe he's going to be next.

Also, I just realized from the comments that S2 had a different writer and another one for S3 and suddenly the declining quality of everything makes much more sense now.

Great start of the season. Diving right into it and HOW!? Poor Kenny. From how the first episode was playing out it was clear that this was going to happen but I still felt so sad when I saw him there. It does set off things nicely because Eve needed it to be personal to get back on the job and Carolyn needs it too to fight to get the team back up and running. So all in all as sad as it is - because it is Kenny - it was necessary.
I have a feeling that Dasha is more than 'just' another person working for or with The Twelve. I feel like she's Villanelle's mother. Especially since last season ended with Konstantin hinting that Villanelle had living family somewhere.
