When there is action it looks like Halo, and the actors are doing a good job of playing the characters. But oh the crap writing and abysmal pacing. How could you screw up so bad as to make halo boring. I get it the humans are terrible and the aliens are zealots. But you could have established both those things in like 15 minutes and focus on the damn story of halo. It was already written and much better than you can do. Just flesh it out with more views on the action and more points of view. Stop trying to make it yours we don’t want your opinions.
I have not played the game, but I find the TV series most gripping.
I have never played the game, but I find the TV series most entertaining.
Well, one year has passed, where is it?
I didn’t remember anything about the first season, which tells me a lot about the impact it made on me. After a short recap, I threw myself back in and I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed myself a lot, which I didn’t expect. Still, we get way to little of Master Chief in his full suit. I mean, come on… I want to see that shit more!
Went on YouTube to get a recap of season one since they didn't bother providing one at the beginning of the first episode - I HATE it when they don't do that. Anyway... there was a ton of stuff to remember and on to episode one - this was the best they could do?
It got better in episodes 2- 4... sort of. The action was always good (sound too if you're listening in Atmos), but there is the odd scene where things could have been shortened/eliminated.
Episode 5 was long and dragged out - could have been edited to 1/2 the time and no one would have missed anything.
Really re-thinking whether I'll continue watching past episode 5 ... I have zero interest in any of the characters - if they live or die, I just don't care. Superstar 'John' is all weepy and not as hard as nails as a robot-type person should be. He lost his suit - boo-hoo he can't go on living to kill. Any war-machine, robot without feeling that risks their own life to go back to the enemy to 'rescue' a dead guy makes no sense at all.
I can't get into this. They garbled up the lore to make this shit. Like... wtf. And Chief is back to acting rogue and going helmetless like 90% of the show. This show is just an insult, a slap in the face to Halo and the writers should be ashamed of themselves.
I got this far, cause I wanted to watch the episodes before AngryJoe told me about them, but now I'm just annoyed.
Enjoy making this pissy ass show. If you make a season 3, count me out. I'm not watching this shit anymore.
Well I'm still confused . Too much bundled in to the final episode with many thing's hanging in the balance. I like clarity! Oh well let's see if there's a season 3?

Season 2 Review: I made a S1 review full of everything I felt about the season and show (Spoiler: Not great...) Now, I'll do the same for this one. The review will be edited as I watch new episodes and form new opinions. I'll make a pros list and cons list and those will update as the season continues. (Finished S2 now) Obvious spoilers coming up.
S1 ended with heavy disappointment. Master Chief was nothing like the character we know and love. He was rageful, sloppy, hateful (towards Cortana too when they've never hated each other) and idiotic. They completely misrepresented the character and none of what they portray him as is accurate. I'll stop to not rant as much, sorry lol. S1 review goes on. Overall, S1 was poorly written with the exclusion of a few points.
Now on to S2.
Where do I start.. First things first, like S1, this isn't Halo. Spartans aren't Spartans, Arbiter isn't Arbiter, plenty of beloved storylines were butchered and minimized to fit into the season. But if the show wasn't Halo, I'd give it a 6.5/10. As a Halo show, 6/10.
There's some episodes that are great, some that are boring, and some that are just filled too much with different storylines. But overall, this season was more enjoyable than the last season. They improved on certain things but continue to fail other things.
Hope my pros and cons list serve as reasonable and objective in both enjoyment and quality.
Pros:
- Once again, solid action. It doesn't fail to entertain.
Once again, the acting is the saving grace of this show. No matter how bad the plot is, the actors keep me in.
Strong first episode. Still repeating many failures of s1 but overall improvement.
They got Marvin 'Krondon' Jones III! That's always a win! He's amazing! Even if he's a side character sadly.
Episode "Reach" was a near perfect episode. The action, the cost of life in war, all of it was great.
Season Finale time: This is the first time this season that the Spartans felt like spartans. In armor at that!
At first, I thought they were going basic zombie look for the Flood but they're actually giving them the tentacles and stuff. Hopefully this continues.
The actual Master Chief is here! He's been gone the whole season but he's finally back! Why couldn't they do this from the beginning!!
Not really a pro but they went heavy on Infinite for the Halo ring. A direct copy view of Infinite's teaser and using the grapple-shot against "The Arbiter". Interesting route to take.
Cons:
- Once again, Master Chief is NOTHING like Master Chief. They should've just made him another spartan.
Once again, they treat Spartan II emotion like they're children. No depth, just pure childish behavior.
So, they say John dies in S1 due to Cortana controlling him (which was still a useless scene as he could've hesitated an extra 3 minutes and had backup.) But then he immediately gets saved in the first second of S2? Talk about meaningless plot device. Bringing in something critical then just saying "Changed our minds"..
They're still trying with the horrible love interest from S1? Didn't they learn that it was the worst decision they made on the show?
That is NOT Cortana. Why'd they change actors? It was great in s1. Okay, it's not a horrible change but it leaves a bad taste so it's a con.
Great... The terrible spy storyline is continuing.
Apparently they're making Chief appear to be an old, delusional guy? Like why? What's with the show trying to make Chief look idiotic?
Episode "Reach", though it was a great episode, they once again got rid of the spartan's armor. And their reasoning was just "Oh, Ackerson took it." Like, really? Lazy writing there.
So, apparently Spartan III program are being trained now. Why are they being trained at the same time as Reach? I get they are making their own storyline but the III were a thing 21 years before Reach was attacked. It completely removed beloved characters we know from this show's canon. Carter, Kat, Noble 6, Emile, Jun, etc. They don't exist anymore and the III are now some newbie recruits with no experience.
Personal gripe but WHERE'S KURT! They replaced him for Kai, just for drama sake? It's lame we can't have a single infamous spartan show up outside of Chief.
It's real convenient that every characters plot line ends up at the same location. Chief, the S-III, Soren, and Kwan. All of them apparently needed the same planet. Lazy writing there.
Why is Kai so easily influenced by Ackerson? Ackerson comes up with some random "Chief is a traitor" and Kai just stops trusting Chief? And why do they have her brutalize him when he doesn't even fight back? She's like "I don't want this" but slams him repeatedly into equipment. Stupid.
Makee's story is so useless in s2. She's barely there the entire season then when she finally talks to Chief, it's just terribly justifying genocide and wanting to own the ring herself. Like that'll happen. I figured when they introduced a human Covenant member, this would happen but it just doesn't get any better.
After two episodes past "Reach", I just fully realized "Reach" was supposed to be the Fall of Reach.. Even though the episode was good, I am so heavily disappointed.. I thought they were gonna go back for more but apparently that tiny battle was all they had to offer for Reach. It feels so insignificant compared to the mass destruction of the canon lore. Losing Reach was supposed to be a devastating blow to humanity and a massive war against the Covenant but it just got chalked up to "We escaped before the battle cause we knew we'd lose".. So disappointing..
Season finale cons: Lackluster finale. Cool scenes but very anticlimactic for an ending of a season. Left many storylines far to open-ended too. Flood, Halo, Halsey, etc.
Forgot to say this previously but this is NOT the Arbiter. Many times in the season, I didn't even know he was there until someone called him out specifically. Even on Reach, they told Master Chief something like "You know him?" And I'm just like "Which one?". And his character is meaningless. He shows up as this large threat, becomes Makee's guard dog, then gets killed by Chief. No storyline, no development, nothing.. Just a basic Elite with the false identity of the Arbiter.
