Another great episode. Fans be like: "He's not.. there are no .. why.. Lore.. blah blah blah" .. apparently I am not a fan because I let all the Pablo wash over me and cheer all the way..
I understand the people who are angry that the show isn't adapting the "official" lore. That doesn't make it necessarily bad?
Just enjoy the beautiful sceneries and goddamn those Spartan suits are astonishing af. Give the show a goddamn chance, will you?
he looks so stupid without his helmet. I love how his answer to everything is "I Don't Know" as well. It starting to feel like they took the script straight from Judge Dredd and then painted it with the Halo videogame. Can't wait to find out who the corrupt person controlling everything in UNSC is.;
I’m watching rn! 30 mins in and it’s literally the best show I’ve watched in a long time and I watch a lot of tv! Can’t wait for more!
Another good episode. The visuals are amazing and Master Chief just looks amazing. Pablo Schreiber is awesome in the role as he first and foremost has the right physique to play this iconic character.
Opinion of a Halo Newbie
An improvement over the pilot, in my opinion. They've done away with the unnecessary FPS tropes (though this may only be because of a lack of action in the episode), and a flashback reveals there may be more to this emotionless super soldier's conflict with morality than a single refugee from Madrigal. I hope that the flashback is a precursor to more back story, and not simply a way to introduce Soren to the narrative.
Mythology is starting to pick up the pace, but we still don't know who the Covenant are, where they have come from, and why. The pilot started out with the impression that this was a story about war between the UNSC and the Resistance. Then suddenly - aliens! Think they may have relied a little too much on Halo fans already being aware of the lore - but they shouldn't forget that some (i.e. me) are viewing as generic sci fi fans.
Being a video gamer myself, I am aware of Cortana's existence as possibly one of the most influential sidekicks of all time, so I'm excited to learn more about her.
Hoping to get back into some action for the next episode, and praying that those FPS tropes don't return along with it.
7/10
Well the plot thickens
and everything is being moved in to place to carry the rest of season one forward. This was a much more grounded episode than the season premiere which was frickin awesome, but I get it's time to get down to business now and start trying to work shit out and ultimately understand this bloody Artifact that lights up like a god damn Christmas tree everytime John comes into direct physical contact with it.
I think he made a huge mistake going back, borderline stupid
Let's see what comes of this decision in the following episode,
Nothing good I Wager.
the artifact printed in 3d was very noticeable, it could have been done better for the direct plane

57 | Halo universe has similarities with Marvel specifically Guardians of the Galaxy universe. The galaxy as a setting would be complicated because of how many people would be involved. So far it showed us narrow characters and groups of people development. There will be a lot to cover for the rest of the season. Minus point of this episode was the rough editing and meh acting of new characters.

The first 15-20 minutes of the pilot episode were serviceable, but this is some of the worst television writing I’ve encountered. The dialogue is so clearly dumbed down. Bokeem Woodbine rocks, but even he can’t save this show.
More ideological subversion draped in pop culture.
343 made the worst halos so at least the show is faithful to their games.
Bokeem Woodbine shines in this episode.
Even less coherent than episode 1. They already disrespected Master Chief by having him take off his helmet, but now he takes off his armor? It’s unbearable.
None of the characters act with coherent motivation.
Kwan continues to be irrelevant and a poor narrative tool.
The fact I didn't know anything about this makes this very intriguing to watch. I can just sit and enjoy. It seems like a multi-layered universe and I'm very much looking forward to how this will develop.
@Alexander - I SEE you! Good catch. She is in a couple of more episodes, so hopefully, Fiona will be given a bit more to do than in this one.
@MrOffbeat - Yeah, I don't understand Sci-Fi fans who whine and moan about shows not being exactly like the source material. The credits even say "Based on the WORLD of the video game Halo", NOT based solely on the game. IDK how many books or graphic novels I've read, that were then made into movies, which turned out to not be exactly like the material they were taken from. Sometimes the directors vison was different than the one I had pictured in my head, and, on occasion BETTER. Give two people the same book, or two actors the same script, and, one interpretation may be different than the other, but, IMO BOTH are valid. As long as the story is cogent and entertaining (unless it's a biography) then, I'm fine with "adjustments" to keep the flow smooth.
Master Chief was between a rock and a hard place, because if he stayed with Soren, he would put the whole asteroid colony in danger, so, he had nowhere else to go except back. Problem is everyone back there has an agenda, each one manipulating others for their own advantage and power. The problem is he isn't yet experienced enough (with feelings) to read the manipulations, but is going on instinct (and programming). Me thinks he'll figure it out pretty quick though.
It sure is jacked up when you get played by your subordinate, especially in front of your superiors. Maybe time to find an airlock and play HAL, which seems apropos seeing that Dave Bowman is the head honcho in charge.
Not quite a "filler" episode as the story WAS advanced along just a bit, but, I'm looking forward to the next one, hoping for a bit more action.
This is gonna be the book of boba Fett all over again with his helmet off!
why did the chief take off his helmet so early
dope show, the production value is through the roof

It only took a couple hundred years, but Master Chief finally found Jessica Hyde.
