I've been waiting for the Audrey/Max/Aki poly moment and it did not disappoint.
"Nothing Zoya says is technically wrong. It just feels a little performative in the way she has accused Obie of being performative" -from a very brilliant Vulture review, Kyndall Cunningham
He also says stuff like "Julien is her politics? Since when? I'm very confused about what this girl does and doesn't believe in" and lovingly points out discrepancies. Like, would an influencer of her stature not already be forced to collaborate with companies by now? It's unreasonable she wouldn't already be part of something if TMZ covers are in the picture.
GG in the old days used to feature plenty of scathing gossip about herself, a huge difference between whatever they're trying to do now.
This was the midseason finale.
Probably one of the better episodes so far where it didn’t revolve around the boring JC and Zoya drama and expanded on other scandals that are more interesting
the struggles of poor people are just backdrops to these rich kids
I really love Lyne Renée and Malcolm McDowell. I was happy to see them! (Roger Menzies is the new Mitchum Huntzberger?)
This was kinda disgusting, using protests a the background of the lamest love triangle ever? then obie and julien kissing in the middle of police brutality? that felt out of a pepsi commercial, who approved this??? and then trying to paint them as heroes for rejecting a sephora contract and going against his mom. And yes the parents' drama was interesting, but that belongs in Succession, not here.
And I haven't vibe w Obie since the show started and he is lame and fake, but Zoya was out of place, and she is very weird, like imagine being 15 and trying to outsmart Jeffrey Bezos with sassy comments during dinner? I get we hate rich people, but she looked more like the dinner's buffoon, I remember being 15 and thinking I was the bravest smartest person in the room but I wasn't and she isn't either.
And I think I'm team Julien! She ended up "winning" by being the bigger person. I can't believe Zoya had the nerve of getting mad with Julien for still being in love with Obie??? When Julien never wanted to break up w him!! he dumped her to date Zoya, and Julien clearly stated she was heartbroken and wanted to reconcile w him, and Zoya didn't care!
And where was Monet??? just because she isn't a minion anymore doesn't mean she isn't a student there!
Overall after watching these 6 episodes I can say the show is dull, lacks soul, none of the characters are interesting enough, the drama and conflict is silly and not silly entertaining, but silly plain stupid. I'm rooting for Monet and Luna but not as minions anymore, and I'm begging no more Obie/Julien/Zoya PLEASE STOP, worst plot line ever. And Aubrey/Aki/Max will never be Carla/Polo/Christian.
Oh and the teacher was an idiot for giving Rafa access to the account, WHO DOES THAT???
Perhaps the most interesting episode of the show. And still it was boring.
