Dear Neil,
What compelled you to do this to me?
Sleep with one eye open tonight.
With love,
Kate
Wow so this one episode really managed to ruin the entire season for me. I had a hunch and hoped that I was wrong, but this really was all buildup for a romantic revelation at the end. There was no real point to it, no storytelling, all just a slow burn for the fanservice. I hate that main characters seemingly never can just be friends. As if friendships are lesser than romantic relationships. What an afterthought of a season.
I can't wait for season 3!
This ain’t right. I can’t wait another 4 years.
This was evil.
NEIL WHY. WHY ARE YOU BREAKING OUR HEARTSSS.:sob:
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME ?!!??!?!?! I'M IN PIECES
last 15 mins I was having the most emotional full body reaction. I was sweating n crying n breathing heavy. I'M STILL CRYING NOW??

THIS IS NOT HOW I WANTED THAT TO HAPPEN AT ALL
After that I'm broken, depressed and just a f****** mess, but sincerly - mostly I'm very, very surprised. I don't know what I expect to see, but somehow it wasn't that. I saw so many tv shows and movies about two characters who are best friends and even if fans see between them something 'more', they always stayed just friends... until now aparently. Don't get me wrong, I'm very mad about the ending, but part of me is also happy. Because finally I watched the story, when bromance change in romance, and I practicly lost hope that anyone would be brave enough to do something like that on the screen between two main characters, who weren't defined gay from the start. So for that, thank you Mr Gaiman.
I'm in pieces. :broken_heart:
Michael Sheen & David Tennant's acting in this episode especially at the final scene was absolutely phenomenal. So heartbreakingly wonderful, truly such talented people. The way they delivered the lines, the way they were speaking with just their facial expressions, ugh just EVERYTHING - absolutely incredible. I swear to god, we need a Season 3 and we need it ASAP! Neil Gaiman, we need to talk. You're paying for my therapy.
"We could've been us." :sob:
ABSOLUTELY ACHING FOR SEASON THREE.
me, weeping…. the way i’ve been so delighted with them the whole series and this has BROKEN MY HEART
I was warned by everyone on twt saying that the ending was upsetting and they'd be split but truly I wasn't expecting that sequence of events to be so specifically Upsetting in that way!!!!!! The last 15 minutes was so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I experienced a full body emotion of crying. The way it builds towards positivity and it just comes crashing down so fast wtf
Also I saw everyone talking about religious trauma and Now I Understand Why, and the point of e3 where Aziraphale can't move past rigid morality and believing heaven is good and rules are good. It's wild how it ends by just naming the themes of Communication and Morality. Also Crowley's reaction to being told he can go back to heaven and be an angel,, I just,,,,,
This show is /so/ much
Amazon, you'd better renew this shit right the fuck now for a third season, you can't fucking leave it there.
what. what the f*ck man
This season makes no sense. Should never been released.
You fked morons! Angels and Devils are not HUMANS, they are heavenly CREATURES! Theay are have not sexual feelings, or sexual "tools". YES, they can fall in love but without sexual connection ergo NO KISSING.
i knew from the start of this season they'd commit to the romantic angle more and i was sort of expecting some pain, but the ending BROKE ME???.?
the whole season wasn't as good as the original imo, it didn't have the same sense of wonder and interestingly enough it did feel like aziraphale and crowley weren't as in sync to me, so i guess the ending makes sense bUT STILL
i did like the conclusion of the nina/maggie story because it'd have felt a bit too convenient if it'd worked out miraculously. i also wish we'd had more crumbs of the beelzebub/gabriel thing earlier on, or maybe i'd missed them? though it was entertaining and jon hamm was really funny. i guess it's mainly the shax and the other demon guy +zombies storyline i didn't care for.. felt like filler, not a real nor clear threat and just kind of annoying and distracting.
BUT TO GET TO THAT ENDING. i just can't fucking believe crowley finally had the courage and vulnerability to be honest and it ended like that? like i'm a bit mad at aziraphale ngl??? throughout the whole season it's been clear as day how much crowley cares about him, and you'd think between the job and edimburgh incidents (not to mention the apocalypse) aziraphale would have learnt that heaven also sucks, and i get it he wants to do good and believes he can make a change but he's subtly been pushing crowley aside repeatedly and like crowley's voice breaking trying not to cry??? neil gaiman you're an evil evil man. fucking gabriel gets a lovey dovey happy ending and crowley and aziraphale get this??? next season better come out quickly because i am a HUSK of a human being, my heart is broken and i feel physical pain. the nightingale?? rub it in our faces will you? the moment crowley starts talking about brunch plans my heart started yearning for it but i knew we wouldn't get it. let the ineffable idiots be together i'm fucking begging
This season wasn't as interesting as the first one. Still, the acting of Sheen, Tennant and Hamm kinda saves it, just a bit. Haven't read the book, but i know this story is all new, so out of the blue, didn't quite like it. The "Gabriel missing" urgency wasn't as urgent as stopping the Apocalypse in S1, and they didn't gave it too much focus during the season. At this point, it was expected that they would try some gayness in the plot (double this time) and even tho that i'm usually "against" it (not for the sake of it, but for the fact that is pushed and forced), in this case i didn't think it was that bad; specially since S1 it was obvious that something beyond a friendship could be between them. The ending was ok (a nice twist tbh, wasn't expecting the Beelzebub/Gabriel duo) and they left the story open enough for a S3, although i don't know if it should happen. Tbh, i don't know if the story was good enough for a S2, but since we are talking about immortal beings, i guess that more stories aren't out of the equation. Anyway, for me is a 6, downing the total score of the series for a 7.
they had NO RIGHT to make me suffer like this, to do this to me??? AHHHHHHHH
OMG!!!! I WANTED THAT BUT NOT LIKE THIS. WHY. Angel why???!!!!!!! WHY? Speechless!!
Neil Gaiman is fucking daibolical. How did Crowley and Aziraphale break up like this. How are Gabriel and Belzebub happy in Alpha Centauri while my ineffable husbands leave this season irrevocably wrought apart? Why play with my feelings like this
the last 15 minutes had me :sob::sob::sob::sob::sob:.
you can't do that! absolutely not!
OMG THIS EPISODE SAVED THE ENTIRE SEASON!!!
This finale warmed my heart, then ripped it out and stomped all over it. Also, it will probably be a few years before we get season 3, so, 10/10 - for the pleasure and the pain to last.
I'm so disappointed... My partner is LGBTQ+, and I support this (equal rights for all human beings) with all that I am. Despite this, I hated the last fifteen minutes. It was devestatingly bad storytelling. The magic of their plutonic relationship just kind of fizzled away to nothing. It became a physical expression among beings that should be above physical nonsense. This doesn't drag them to earth, it just drags their characters into a more trivial and mundane place of existence.
It was a great season, but it's a 8/10 instead of a 10/10 now. They were so touching and wonderful as friends, without becoming a cliche rehashing of Romeo and Juliette.
What a thing to see... The season was so AMAZING... I loved it. But it ended on the weakest possible note. I can hear the Amazon executive in charge of all this screaming at Neil to add this scene in... And I can simultaneously can hear Terry rolling in his grave.
The plot of this show is unintelligible nonsense to me, but the characters are all absolutely delightful.
its was just a really really good series. nice characters, good story, very funny moments. is just fun to see.
.... and then he was gay. why? dont get me wrong. i dont have anything against gay/queer.. people in movies oder series. i liked nina an maggie. but why making crowley... gay? or bi? why not just two straigth white man with a tight friendship? is just the feeling everything today has to be woke... and to straight white men as lead-charakter? impossible...
My heart is totally broken :(
They just had to do it didn't they! Spoiled the finale by introducing the gay stuff.. Now we know what's going to come in the next season so I don't think I'm going to bother watching it any further, such a shame because it was a brilliant series up until now.
Phenomenal episode. Loved it all. Especially Muriel. She is so adorable. Quelin Sepulveda is utter cuteness. Such an unexpected character this season.
Three parts here.
1) The follow up of the events of the previous episode.
Well, it's as good as its beginning. The fight with the legion of hell is still very fun. And Crowley that was a bit missing on the previous one, is again stealing the show, this time in Heaven.
Fun detail when Crowley seems to be the only one to remember Metatron, when his whole bit in almost every episode was to not recollect at all Angels or Demons he had interacted with before.
2) The season's main story ending.
And it is a little, hmm, even medium let-down. First the way Gabriel just lets everything happen. I'll suppose that means everything was his plan since the beginning. He didn't fight anything because he already decided to flee with Beelzebub ?
Second, there wasn't really any effort to find out what happened. I mean, the whole we discovered about it in the whole season is "He's been in a pub in Edinburgh".
And it turns out there was no real stake here either. I mean, once he's found and revealed, no one wants to do anything anyway. In the end, he had the punishment Heaven had planned, just not exactly on their terms, so that's why they were looking for him. Nothing really important. As for Hell, well, turns out Hell had not much interest in finding him either, only Beelzebub.
Then let's just say their love story is a bit of a sham, they literally talked to each other for 3 times 5 minutes. Well, maybe one could say it's the novelty of actually interacting with someone else, maybe. But mainly it's clearly just a cheap setup for the epilogue part.
On the same vein, I assumed in the beginning that despite being totally out of the main story, the Nina/Maggie thing would converge and turn out to be something important/interesting... WRONG. It was all again just a cheap setup for the epilogue part.
3) The epilogue
It clearly turns out that the whole point of this season was these last 10 minutes. That's why the flashbacks are characterizes as "minisodes", outside of the story (even if for some they pretty take the whole episode). But if you remove them, how much actual story did we have ? Episodes 1 and 5 plus a dozen minutes ?
Obviously a lot of people were waiting for it, and are heartbroken that they get separated this way. I'm not quite onboard with that.
First, the way it's brought on, it looks more like fan service than actual storytelling.
Second, what looks like a turn to a human-like physical relationship actually seems, I don't know, demeaning ? to what they actually are.
As to what really happens, I'm not sure, I guess we'll see it in season 3, but on one hand it seems totally impossible that Aziraphale could still have absolutely no fucking clue about the very core of Crowley's nature like it looks like at first hand. If that was the case, it would basically mean that their relationship never really existed, and that Crowley was just Aziraphale's pet as suggested by I don't remember who, Gabriel maybe ? So we can suppose that something huge happened off screen (Metatron threatening him I guess. There could be punishment for blowing up his halo and thus declaring war on Hell for instance).
On the other hand, if there's just one thing that this season showed (apart from pushing for that kiss), it's that Aziraphale is probably still intimately convinced that Angels are intrinsically the good guys. Centuries after the horrible Job episode, he still goes on about the goodness of God's plan at every occasion. Contrary to Crowley he still has an attachment to his origin. Let's not forget that in the events of season one he was still choosing his heavenly mission over his relationship with Crowley. That was just a few years ago. Compared to the scale of their thousands of years long relationship, that was just yesteday.
I guess we'll have to see whether season 3 is about facing this secret threat while secretly working together or about Crowley having to convince Aziraphale he was wrong again. Also hoping for actual things happening, and maybe more interesting human characters.
Rewatch:
-there's some theories that say the metatron tricked aziraphale (as in put something in his coffee) but that feels like a violation of all the themes of this series.
- what was up with the miracle size in hiding Gabriel & crowley's identity as throne dominion or above/working with saraqael on the horsehead nebula
- aziraphale telling crowley you came back after he disappeared off to heaven and how it feels like crowley is always off secretly trying to rescue aziraphale /by himself/ and aziraphale maybe let's it happen or is trying to rationalise being left alone
- a lot of... If you don't communicate for 6000 years (because if you do nice things you get tortured in hell or heaven has all sorts of rules/trials/punishments) then it's hard to communicate anyway. It's a weird tricky emotional puzzle that will be interesting to see gaiman solve
Why, why you ave make this to me???
