Godless: Season 1

1x07 Homecoming

This was an almost perfect ending to a magnificent miniseries.

Almost perfect because:
- Whitey’s death could have been more heroic. I liked the character a lot. He could have helped more in the great shooting. He could have killed a lot of Griffin’s men by following the same plan as the ladies of La Belle. He would have kicked ass in a shooting like that.
- the raid on Blackdom was a bit disappointing too. Maybe they should have prepared. They were maybe too confident because they supposedly were untrained and half-drunk killers. I expected more loss Griffin’s side.
- same as a lot of shows/movies when a group shooting takes place. Why shoot everyone and keep the leader alive until the end (except for the sake of the scenario)? Griffin could have been badly injured from the first shot. After that he could have disappeared. And at the end of the shooting, instead of waiting long minutes staring at each other, Good should have followed him directly.

This was a solid 10/10 episode nonetheless! 70 minutes gone too fast.

I must say, this was a wonderful western tale. Excellent. Netflix is the new HBO when it comes to great series.

After all that talk the shows handling of Blackdom and Whitey felt kinda disappointing.

Other than that a fantastic show all around with absolutely amazing cinematography.

Unbelievable from start to finish. The story touched on many issues of that period which intertwined into an entertaining western. A second season would be a nice addition, however, the actors believe that it should remain as the book was written which is with only one season.

Holy shit, this show is good.
I was fearing for everyone in this episode, and glued to my spot, breathless I reckon.
The little twist with “the Indian” was real nice.

But the massacres and ... dear gods, why whitey. Why like this.
Broke my heart.

Beautiful ending(s) though, all in all. Despite sad.
That sort of cliched “lonesome cowboy rides west” in the end was so beautifully done, it kind of brought me to tears. guilty

Wonderful scenery and cinematography.
Justice was served by the Women of LA Belle!

What a roller-coaster of an episode!

Whitey and Blackdom were completely disappointing. I expected tragedy but that was thoroughly underwhelming. The foreshadowing of the hidden treasure wasn't that bright either but I can overlook it as happy endings are just like that more often than not.

As for the really good parts, the German girl kicking ass and even saving her detective has to be one of the most satisfying turn of events in this story. Charlie and Will McAvoy having a bad time in Westworld also comes to mind - that doesn't really count, but still.

Ultimately, at the very end, isn't Roy looking south when he should be heading north after he reaches the sea?
