Having watched the entire season now, I'm still not entirely convinced by the Mrs Devine character; I think she would have worked better as a recurring local, a bit like Lady Felicia has become. Brenda, on the other hand is a good cheeky foil for Father Brown, blending elements of Bunty and Sid. Mrs McCarthy's absence is definitely felt but it's been good to see Sullivan again.
