As someone who found Season 3 a tad thin (if still fun enough), I like the dense character- and world-building here right off the bat.
"Welcome to the Alternate Economy" is a terrible premiere for this fourth season of Fargo. For starters, without context, this episode doesn't even feel like the same show. Also, poor acting and editing are prevalent throughout this one, with several scenes making me laugh unironically. Chris Rock is a fascinating miscast if I've ever seen one. Aside from Oraetta Mayflower, none of these characters is the least bit interesting and is all flat stereotypes. On top of that, the social commentary in this premiere is not subtle at all, feeling trite throughout. I am somewhat interested to see how this season pans out, whether it manages to get even worse or improves, so there's that.
Overall, terrible.
All hail to the true art of storytelling
As always,top notch viewing!
