Evil: Season 2

2x06 C Is for Cop

Sure, anything about a cop killing a black person is called woke and instantly gets a 1 on here. In this show it was intriguing though. The whole episode was really good and not only about racism.
Though the episode was basically saying every cop is racist, even good “or no cops are good” cops are racist, like Kristen’s friend. Saying she’ll put in her report that Kristen thought she saw a black man her yard. I found that unnecessary and kind of forced into remind us the episode was about racist cops.
Ben trying to figure out how to get rid of his dream demon was good. As well as Kristen’s guilt about killing a man.y

That could have been worse. Subject matter wise it was a bold attempt. TV over all has been notoriously bad at handling this. Even Evil a show that is imo so well written i trust it could have done this poorly. In the classic refusing to answer fashion Evil does a pretty good job of having it's characters react in a pretty realistic way to a ridiculous situation even one that has a degree of merit in their world.

This episode was intriguing, I liked it.
I liked the antithesis it showed, that when you're black you can get in trouble even if you are innocent, and if you are white you can get away with murder even if you confess

So Kristen finally admits that she did kill LeRoux. Does this give her absolution ?

I understand that racism has been (unfortunately) a subject of debate in recent years. But, between this show and The Good Fight, the Kings are starting to show signs of obsession over the matter. I agree with another comment around here, the final line of dialogue from Mira was a wee bit over the top and uncalled for. Thankfully, the rest of the episode dealt the racist card with relative care, but I would appreciate if this show didn't become another victim of the racism trap. The Kings are already venturing deeply into that matter in The Good Fight, so I hope they'll leave it there.

The final segment with Kerstin and LeRoux and her subsequent acknowledgement of guilt to her friend Mira was a powerful one. If it hadn't been for that one line from Mira, this episode would have definitely ended on a high note.

That being said, I can't wait for an episode of nothing but silence! I'm sure there's some awkward fun to be had, there.

I like my shows to be more timeless or to be seemingly set in a different universe from the one that holds my actual realities. Basically, I turn to TV and movie fiction to get AWAY from the real world, not to have its contentious issues thrown in my face. Or to put it another way, when I want to ponder the state of the world, I don't want to do it with vacuous movie and TV writers. As such, the subject matter of much of this one was beyond tedious. I've seen worse efforts on the race front, but Kristen's whole arrogant and condescending guilty-until-proved-innocent-and-probably-not-even-then embrace of the whole cops-are-evil meme was a major, MAJOR turnoff. I suppose it's a sign of how much I've come to like the show overall when I can watch offensive dreck like this and not just turn it off. Hopefully they get some blowback after this one and stick to the supernatural and leave the politics to others in the future. It's too good of a show to ruin with this garbage.

This was the episode that lost me as a viewer, total race batting woke rubbish….
This season was on a slippery slope, but I was staying with it until this episode…..

What intelligent doctor murders someone and keeps the murder weapon in their house. How many close calls are needed before you get rid of it. Very poor writing!
