Dude. The fucking cinematography man.

This episode is so well directed. Some of the best directing I've seen since True Detective S1.

Loved the directing and camerawork of this episode as well as the actors performance. The backstory of Jules was interesting and the scene where Jules gets to meet her texting crush was very well acted by both actors in that scene.

I think Nate is about one VW Bug short of being Ted Bundy.

loading replies

Damn Jules giving me anxiety by going to all these places alone... That forest looked like the perfect scenario for an episode of Cold Case.

“i think you’re a fucking faggot just like your daddy”

JULES RULES MY WORLD AAAAAA

Woah! That episode was epic. The score! Wow. Whole episode felt like it happened in 5 minutes.

This episode was visually stunning. Not only was the cinematography breathtaking, but it was the perfect backdrop to compliment the unfolding chaotic plot.

That scene between Nate and Jules was a rollercoaster. A brilliant rollercoaster. The contrast of Nate's treatment of Maddy (earlier) and Jules (initially) had you almost believing there are two sides to Nate... until he shows his true colours, yet again. It reinforces that notion that when someone shows you who they really are, believe them.

I know many people weren't sold on the blackmail plot for its obviously holes and Nate's poor grasp of the law. However, I think it is very true to his character. He often acts with blatant disregard for consequences, believing he is untouchable. He often substitutes his confidence for knowledge. It is believable he would threaten someone with no fear (or knowledge) of personal repercussions.

Okay, I'm fucking sold on this show. Amazing episode!

cinema could've halted forever. there's nowhere to go once you've reached the top

The cinematography is incredible. This show is one to watch.

loading replies

aside from the beautiful cinematography and the soundtrack, I find the plot, especially on this episode, a little Riverdale-ish! and why everyone is fucking and doing drugs at the fair?

loading replies

I find Kat to be the most tolerable so far. The others have no dreams.

Could Jules really get put on a sex offenders list?

loading replies

Finally, something watcheable.
now, if the show wouldnt feel the need to throw in unnecessery sex scenes and violence every 5 minutes to keep the 16 year olds watching, it would have the potential to actually be an 8.
Still has the random ass introductions and trowing aways of relationships between people and i still hate Rue tho.
If she aint gonna change by the end of this, i am gonna be angry

McKay might actually be the stupidest man ever... (I do not mean this in a derogatory way) but I'm starting to believe his charachter in the show might have some type of disability.

Also, Since when were Maddy & Cassie besties? I don't recall them ever interacting in this series at all
Also also, Nate's blackmail. His account is not just "Anonymous" - - - If legal action WAS taken it would be VERY easy to prove (on a technical level) he was committing JUST AS MANY crimes as Jule's so this whole (what seem to be) storyline of the blackmail is a huge plot-hole for me

loading replies

Good episode like the Cassie riding scene :0 and at least no dicks xD
And i thought Nate could kill her :/

loading replies

Loved the pilot but I really don't like where the show is going. Starting to look more and more like a glossy show with the writing of a The CW one.

loading replies

The moment the show stops focusing on Rue it seems to fall into chaos. Since this episode was almost entirely on Jules and others, it was just bad. The plot felt empty, no emotional connection to the characters anymore, etc. Judging from the preview of the next episode, it may continue in that direction too, unfortunately.

«God, are you broken inside. And that’s precisely why I don’ trust you. Coz you’re so broken you don’t even trust yourself. And that’s scary, not just for you, but for me and for my entire family».

Nate is literally the worst piece of human garbage and I feel like he should be in jail. This man is a literal menace to society and it just seems like everyone’s in danger by simply being in his presence. It’s why I hate that Jules is involved with him somehow, because she’s just so sweet and precious and she deserves a million times better.
Speaking of, I really wish Rue and Jules could be together but I have a sneaking suspicion that Jules is just forcing those romantic feelings upon herself (because she loves Rue so much and she doesn’t feel like she has anyone else), but that she’s probably not actually attracted to girls… I hope I’m wrong though

I really thought for a minute there that Tyler was going to kill Jules and we'd have a classic small town murder story here. With Rue thinking it was Cal ofc.
Either way that boy is pure psychopath and definitely capable of it!
The cinematography of that last scene though! Wow!

lol Nate's blackmail was so dumb.. he is just being over confident maybe while having no knowledge of law?

The opening giving me that sweet dysphoria back asap :sob:
I like Paul Thomas Anderson enough, bit if it stopped Sam Levinson from considering filmmaking in the first place, I would had erase his films from the face of the Earth.
Also, prove that Hunter Schaffer is doing her best to elevate Levinson’s insidious work.
Her last moments with Nate are a new low for Levinson, specially after the awful treatment of another trans character in Assasination Nation

Matt Zoller Seitz called this show Paul Thomas Anderson's My So-Called Life, this episode proves it (the camera shifting to the other characters in the same setting was a lot like Boogie Nights)! This show is on another level.

Just here to comment that the episode was good and all that but... that ending song!!! Really suited the scene, and it's just so beautiful... Damn, I feel like I'll listen to it in an endless loop now.
