WHAT AN AMAZING EPISODE !!!!! God i have missed so much this kind of Empire's episode!! Please Jamal don't be dead!! Him and Hakeem are my favorite character so far!! The next week season finale should be amazing!
Congrats to Taraji P. Henson for her great performance, so deep and real!
I highly doubt Jamal is gonna die. Now let's see luciois escape this one. Feds all up
YALL GOT ME FUCKED UP I SWEAR
that soon has holdings of the weeknd, Drake, etc.
Music horrible that Girlband in ASA
I'm a big fan of Empire, but over this season in particular the show has sustained so much criticism for being a series of events without significant stakes. The introduction of Lucious's mother and that particular plot line has been the worst offender. Although the level of chaos with Anika, Rhonda, Hakeem, and the Feds connection really makes the show appear to be throwing ideas at the wall to see what sticks.
I enjoyed watching the episode and have defended the series from criticism consistently, but the shows worst tendencies were on display. Lucious and Jamal's conflict over Jamal being a gay man is nonsensical. A long put to rest plotline, Lucious delivers lines that are vitriolic to the point of near-parody. In the aftermath, Jamal says "this is not about Freda, this is about Lucious and this is about me and the things that we say that you can't come back from." Jamal delivers the lines so quickly their punch is totally undercut, and for good reason. After all, the logic of Empire and the way the plot has worked up until now is there is nothing one says that one can't come back from. No matter the magnitude of the conflict or the harmfulness of the words, the Lyons always come together (even if it makes no sense).
The baffling moments just never cease. Why would Cookie tell Jamal about Frank? Why would Jamal suggest Freda find a new record label in such a half-assed fashion? How could Carol get so far into the ASA awards to cause such a scene? And had Carol and Freda even met before? The organization of the plot and the episode is just pure chaos. And to leave us with Lucious's mother in front of the press... I have to ask... who cares? Lucious has lost the ASA and the credibility of the song is far less important at this point. What will be the purpose of her revelation? Or, will she even reveal anything at all?
Empire is a great show and this episode had thrilling moments, but ultimately was one of the weakest of the season. The episode cliff hanger should be included in "what not to do" teleplay writing books everywhere.
Omg...that argument between Lucious and Jamal in the studio.. WOW!! I am speechless with what was said... and that shooting.!!!!! geeze #shocked
