Trippy and emotional: Doom Patrol at its finest.

This episode was so painful. Hard to believe that a comic book show is one of the most thoughtful, emotionally honest things on TV. Season 3 is just excellent. It's an 8 or a 9 from me each week, and I'm honestly not sure what a 10 would even look like at this point.

Damn, this episode was as subtle as a hammer...

I mean, anti-heroism is a noble message, especially in this age of superhero idolization, but do people really need to be spoonfed like that? Judging by other comments, I guess they do...

Also, "there are no black superheroes"?? I'm getting sick of this revisionist bullsh!t. There were a bunch of black superheroes in the 70s and even earlier. Did they forget Mal Duncan (aka Vox, the second Guardian, Hornblower) that first appeared in 1970 on Teen Titans? He even joined the Doom Patrol recently.

That was one hell of breakthrough for all the characters!
I really hated how heavy-handed their issues were represented at the start, but I really love what we got at the end.

And it's funny because if they can get better than no way in hell any of them would become your typical superhero. And I personally dropped my expectation of that ever happening after season 1.
I just never expected the show to go in direction: "Hey, Bruce Wayne finally gone through therapy and now he no longer needs to be Batman. Yay!"

I really hope that "one step forward two steps back" routine (understandable and fun in the previous seasons) won't be back.

Sadly, Jane should die. It is for the better. And Cliff could still go away with dignity.

Sadly, the show is finally catching up with the part of the comic where I lost interest. Introspection is one thing, but both the comic and the show spiraled off into pretentious navel-gazing. As Cliff says "Fuck this art school project".
