This is a good, solid episode. I don't think there have ever been only two suspects on DIP before, has there? It's just that, aside from the case, I absolutely did not want anything that happened in this episode to happen, lol. Like, I'll be honest, I did not think Marlon was actually going to leave. With the way the discussion around it evolved, I was sure they were teasing us, and we were going for a bait and switch. But no! Apparently, he really is leaving, and we even brought JP back for it. I am honestly not ready to see him go, and there is still so much to do with his character and his and Naomi's romance... are we never going to see a successful romance between coworkers on this show?! I am also not a fan of the "Zoe" thing. They were teasing Florance too much for the conclusion to be, "Oh, it was Neville's ex all along." Plus, it's just a bit.. icky. If it had been Florance, using a fake identity would have made sense since she is in witness protection. But if it's the ex... I can't quite understand the logic. Especially since she could've, just, you know. Sent him an "I miss you" text.
After a couple of episodes that followed a more traditional who-dunnit plot structure, this is a case without a limited number of suspects. It's quite an ordinary case though that lacks any sort of surprise or elaborate master plan.
This Booker guy is my favorite character in this show - ever. A soft giant in pink on a small scooter ....
I always liked him. They perhaps worked not enough with his shady past and his story with Naomi ends just like that. That's disappointing. His exit was also very rushed. Where does his sister suddenly come from? And what a nonsense with that school in Kingston, Jamaica.
The inspector has rizz. Luring her back over the internet is quite something. But I must ask: that's why they started this his B-plot with the blog? That's all? I mean, she could have read an online newspaper from the Caribbean instead. Then write him a message to reconnect. Same thing. I don't know what difference a blog would make. I mean if he were a brilliant author maybe. But he certainly wasn't the new Hemingway. Remember: he wrote articles about insect repellent ...
