The story of this book was perfect, somehow they found a way to ruin every character, the plot, the principal scenes of the couple and the parallel stories that are important to the other characters! At least, this couple has a lot of chemistry, this somehow saved the story of Kathony. Disappointed.
If you liked the book be warned there is almost nothing of it in this season.
If you like a united family and strong friendship, skip it too.
I am so disappointed by it but as I really liked the book it may not represent the opinion of those who watch this season without any prior knowledge about it.
Anthony and Kate's relationship seemed to come out of nowhere here. And Anthony was so unlikable and never redeemed himself in my eyes.
Shonda, congratulations! You just wiped your a** with the book. Why do you suppose you have better ideas than the author herself? This season it's a dissapoinment. I'm full of rage that I've wasted my day watching it.
This season was drastically different from the book upon which it is based. I don’t mind having a totally different storyline from the books but this one was rather disappointing.
A major change was the Edwina/Anthony/Kate love triangle. It took too long to be resolved, the “almost” marriage shouldn’t have happened in the first place, and I feel it didn’t leave time for the Kate/Anthony romance to be convincing. I understand they didn’t want to have yet another marriage of convenience for 2 seasons in a row and love triangles do make for good drama but when siblings are involved, it results in too much hurt and deceit which wasn’t really enjoyable to watch.
I complained about a lack of chemistry between the Duke and Daphne in the previous season, specifically in the early episodes. However, for me, it was worse this season. I just couldn’t feel any chemistry between the two main leads. Jonathan Bailey played Anthony well however the gorgeous Simone Ashley just didn’t do justice to Kate’s character. In the earlier episodes, she came off as rather rude and then in later ones, her acting was very rigid, even in the love confession scene!
I am not sure if the show will follow the chronological order of the books. I feel it is going to be either Benedict or Colin’s story next. It seems like they laid an opening for Benedict’s story, he no longer wants to pursue his art, so maybe he will go away and there he will meet “her” and start drawing again? I am also looking forward to seeing more of Eloise & Theo, I am hoping this story is not yet over. And of course, there will be the aftermath of the Whistledown confrontation between Eloise and Penelope.
Obviously the superior season and the superior couple.
I liked the first season better, and although pre-announced, the lack of the Duke was still startling (he could have made a cameo at least, Daphne and their child were in multiple scenes, so... but alas, since he was the star of the show in s1, he is probably too expensive to cast even for a cameo :( ).
Although the actress who plays Kate was not my favorite in Sex Education, this role suits her well, and I have grown to like her. Some of Edwina's lines and bursts after the failed marriage attempt were a bit too much for me, I think she was not fair with Kate, but they reconciled by the end at least. I found those bursts a bit out of place and character, although I understand her feelings, even if I disagree with her remarks. But every story has at least two sides, and this was hers, not to mention, in the spur of the moment. .
Bridgerton is still charming and unique, very bingeable and likable; there's drama, humor, growth - now a bit of less sex, but this season was more about love and war than the previous one, so the latter is an understandable choice as well. We still have some raunchy scenes, so no worries there! ;)
This season is TWICE as scandalous as the first!! Love it.
I was expecting something more from this season, however it feels like we hardly get any time that the main couple are together. One minute they are fighting and the next they are married. I wanted to see more couple time, instead of the focus been between Anthony and Edwina. Not happy with the Pen and Eloise situation either. There felt like too much unnecessary drama in this season.
i was really hoping they would elope . i thought that was what we were building up to with all the stuff about kate and anthony's responsibilities, how they never do anything just for themselves. all we have had in this series is a sort of reinforcement of traditional gender roles, of traditional values surrounding women & marriage... i hope at some point we have a non-traditional happy ending. the ending we got for kate & anthony seemed rushed, especially with the queen deciding to step in and resolve all their problems . it was too convenient.
it feels as though the series never takes any risks, never delves deep into any social commentary. there's all this stuff with eloise as a protofeminist, and also with kate this season as a spinster, about how restricted women are to their assigned roles in society... and yet every season is ending with well, actually, marriage and titles and children are every woman's happy ending. it's a little contradictory, and so kate's ending doesn't feel entirely true to her. i'm not sure we ever saw her caring about children and titles like edwina.
it's also strange watching a show where they have done away with one form of oppression, racism, but there's still the oppression of women & LGBT people (based on that s1 Benedict storyline). it's so very hetero. can we be a little more imaginative?
Anthony really said :nose::nose::nose: SMELL
Although continuing the Bridgerton magic, this story is very different from the first. This is much more angsty and dramatic and is not afraid to take its time. It's hard to compare because I like each season for different reasons. The couple is different, so their story is made to fit them. Sometimes they lay it on a bit thick, and there's one too many declarations of love in my opinion , but it still works, and the leads are able to sell it.
Loved the books since they were released and I loved this season and have no problems with the changes. And I prefer the second season to the first one. It gave me all the feels and more that I loved when I read the book.
So much better than the first seasone!
And so much better than the book's storyline, which I found a little repetitive compared to the 1 season - stop with these shotgun weddings - and hating Kate's character, braggy and unnecessarily obnoxious.
Season 1 was different from the book and this was even further... I don't ask for the back story of Eloise-Colin-Lady Whistledown. Meh

If you can see my comment, don’t watch it.
A total waste of time while I have watched it all anyway just to see how awful it could be.
I can’t believe a TV show in 2022 is so sexist in every way it could possibly be. Especially in the scene when the mother is in labor and she calls for his dead husband and crying oh my husband will make the decision for me about my life. It makes me so sick. And the relationship between the two sisters and Anthony is also so dreadful and boring at the same time.
