I have to admit, I didn't really remember this episode from my original binge of the series, but it was a pleasant surprise. The structure of the episode, where the family patriarch takes in an itinerant former department store employee under protest and the worker's skills' unexpectedly boost his business seems like a fairly standard sitcom premise that we can trust the show to append its usual hilarious jokes and fun characters to. Then, in true Bob's Burgers fashion, the plot takes a turn for the decidedly weird and the show plays it to the hilt. There were a lot of laughs here, and while this might not be in the upper echelon of Bob's episodes, or even among the show's X-mas episodes, it's still an enjoyable half hour that kept me chuckling, with just enough heart and weirdness to make it feel true to the show's spirit.
