[7.3/10] A cute episode. Linda getting obsessed with delivering a particular package felt very much in character for her. That crusade didn’t really have a lot of twists and turns in it, but her convincing Mike the Mailman to be true to his early ideals and deliver the package, coupled with the byzantine power structure of the mail-carriers, was worth some laughs and some sweetness. I especially appreciated the running gag about the meh-tasting chocolate candy cane.
The B-story about Gene and Louise straining to get better gifts for Tina after she got them very thoughtful ones is solid. The pair have a good back-and-forth (and got in some quality one-liners), and their faltering attempts to be subtle about their last minute gift hunt was amusing.
Last but not least, the C-story with Bob and Tina having to entertain Linda’s parents and sister was my favorite. There’s just something relatalbe about having company over that you don’t really know and straining to keep them occupied until the person they know better returns. Bob and Tina’s efforts at escape/distraction were a laugh, and the continuing threat that the “ottoman incident’ will be discussed was a chuckle-worthy bit. I particularly got a kick out of the running gags about Gail’s paper-thin lies to her folks about having too much money and a lover named “Derek Moneyrich.”
Overall, not one of the high points of Bob’s Burgers’s Xmas output, but still a nice yuletide outing.
