This is a very good series - has taken me a while to watch it but glad i finally did.
I rarely say this about any show/movie but this is a must see.
History can teach us a lot and I don´t know of many shows that do it as great as Band of Brothers does.
Why this took me until now to watch this is something I have to live with forever haha , I got so engrossed in this series I literally felt a lump in my throat at the end of it.
The acting in this is probably some of the best you will see in a TV show EVER!!!
I think this was one of the greatest war series ever to hit TV you really care for these guys and you rooted for them to make it home.
A true masterpiece. It should be shown in schools across the world.
Realistic autobiographical stories of parachute soldiers that served during WW2. Disturbing violent imagery with a lot of needless wasted deaths and gruesomeness. Damian Lewis' break-through role as the natural leader of the pack sticks out the most. It also dare to show Americans in a bad light. Sometimes hard to see which actor is behind all the dirty faces and muddy helmets (which is a shame!) as there is a lot of good actors here. It is also a show that is hard to see more than one episode at a time as it usually ends in a rather somber and unhappy note.
"From this day to the ending of the world, we in it shall be remembered. We lucky few, we band of brothers. For he who today sheds his blood with me, shall be my brother."
Absolutely stunning show. I can't believe I put this great show on hols for this long. Loved every aspect of the series.
Literally the best short series every created in the history of cinema thus far. If you disagree honestly you just don’t know what your talking about.
Hands down the best TV show/mini series to ever hit TV. I watch it end-to-end at least once or twice a year.
A true masterpiece. Would definitely watch it again.
It feels like you're realistically following a company from World War 2, complete with the showcase of realistic action, characters and operations. You do, as the name suggests, feel like you're following a band of brothers through a war.
As an Army combat veteran, there were so many moments throughout this entire series that I could identify with. I don't mind admitting there were more than a few times that I got a lump in my throat, or had to wipe my eyes. Unless you've been there, you can't understand the relationship that develops between men who serve in combat together. The producers (Tom Hanks, among others) did their homework and got this story done absolutely beautifully; the interviews with the members of Easy Company were just an added bonus that make you appreciate even more the incredible sacrifice these men made. Watched it once all the way through and will definitely watch it again. Band of Brothers is quite possibly the best show I've ever watched.
I'm aware of this miniseries' critical acclaim, but I'm quite mixed. Some episodes really express the soldiers' emotions, while others left me at a distance, cold and detached, struggling to latch onto or empathise with anyone.
There's a lot more telling in this series than actual showing, like stated loss instead of actually seeing it. I don't know. While watching this, I just thought back to "Saving Private Ryan", a fictional story, but one, nonetheless, that captured my mind and heart stronger than this miniseries did.
I don't enjoy biopics that much, but with such universal acclaim, I thought I might've loved it, but instead, I only liked it.
7/10
only just watched this series and it was amazing from minute one
The Best Military series ever!!!!
I initially watched it when it first aired, 17 years ago. I was a bit too young to fully grasp it at that time.
There aren't that many shows - or movies - that can shake you at your core, so be warned : this show will change you.
I waited 17 years to watch it again. Shame on me for waiting so long.
A few tiny historial discrepancies (especially in #9 Why We Fight) and it's sometimes a bit hard to keep track of all the characters. I kind of wish it had more than 10 episodes but it's a must see.
Epic series. What else can one say....watch it.
Gonna begin watching it again today. One of the best war series of all time!
Fantastic series! Very authentic scenes with some great chemistry between the cast members.. Highly recommend.
One of the best history war series
Maybe best history series ever. 10/10
Gory, gory, what a hell of way to die.
One of the best shows ever made.
One of the best miniseries of all time.
I swear I wrote a review of this somewhere but I cannot find it. I guess it's possible I wrote it long enough ago that it was on zip.ca and I lost it when the site went offline.
I think my initial rating was an 8/10 because I had some reservations about the "noble grunt" nature of the show. And it's true, it's a "noble grunt" war "film" in the classic tradition of the genre. But in a miniseries, the "noble grunt" thing feels more earned.
But what also helps it is its source, a reported book about what actually happened. And the decision to include the actual soldiers, though it could be an issue in terms of narrative quality, gives the whole thing a strong docudrama feel that helps with how "noble grunt" the whole thing is.
Also, "Bastogne" is one of the great episodes of TV of its era.
PS For fans of Saving Private Ryan, it's worth watching this and thinking about how different it is. (I would say how much better it is.)
No show has ever stuck with me as much as this. Every single time I rewatch this series I see and feel something new. This is hands down the best piece of visual media I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
this has got to be one of the best TV series ever produced. The acting an realism is excellent. An all of it is a true story making it even harder to top.
pretty good, great production value
how many times you watch.. it doesn't matter. still good serie
i used to rate it 10, but now i found it so romantic..
主題涉獵很多,兄弟情、權力與管理、集中營的震憾⋯槍林彈雨和風宿反而是為襯托這些反思的背景
Very impressive. Sadly it only consists of 10 episodes, because I was hooked. Very special serie. This is something you should have on your watchlist and watch it!
Fantastic series! Very authentic scenes with some great chemistry between the cast members.. Highly recommend.
Hennie love this movie Very muts
Only halfway yet, but the series is great so far. Nice scenes, not to much music... So that you can keep focus and feel the tension the soldiers of E. Company had that moment. Compliments on acting, writing, etc.
So glad I've finally given this a watch. Just, incredible.
Best war series ever
To long but very good
best war production ever made
Great series
Possibly the best TV ever made..A must see for anyone, Just makes you humble to think none of its made up and every person is real. Loved the quote from Winters when asked by his Grandson if he was a hero ...he said "No but he served with many" ..what a man a true hero
if your gonna watch it on bluray, get the Japanese release ... sooooo much superiornessness
10 of the best hours, if not just the 10 best hours, ever made for TV.
After a few episodes I realized I had already seen this series when it came out. It's still great and nearly all scenarios are remade in Call of Duty 1, for instance the village Carentan.
About halfway through the series, and I can't believe I waited this long to watch. Superb series.
