The Skipper mention!
“I used to be a person before all of you!” - I liked Charlotte’s drunk meltdown. I'm glad she finally said all that! Rock calling her, so she would stop doing everything and bring a notebook to school is such untitled behavior. There was no way my parents were going to drop everything, go find whatever I had forgotten, and take it to me at school. I wouldn't have even bothered calling them to ask.
Aiden crying is the worst acting I’ve seen in a long time. He finally told why he won't go in that apartment. He admits that tying down Carrie was a mistake. I feel that Aidan is leaving Carrie because of his kids because I don’t think Carrie will move in Virginia!
Hated the cop-out of LTW losing the baby. The abortion conversation is such an important topic for women, and would have been much more daring and classic SATC facing issues head-on.
Seems a bit “convenient” that the writers choose to have Lisa be absolutely heart broken about being pregnant, not wanting to get an abortion and then her body just doing it on its own.
Oh wait, those aren’t even legal anymore in the US right?
just make Che dissapear please. I hate them so much.
Not cool, Che, not cool.
Carrie also, again, showing what an awful friend she is by not taking Miranda's side.
I take it back. Che is once again as insufferable as all the non-binary stuff this ep. I'm a proud member of the LGBTQ community but this stuff is just heavy handed and not doing anyone any favours. It just feels like people are making themselves 'different' for the sake of it at this point. There are people with real problems out here.
Aiden broke my heart crying for his son at the end there. What a horrible position to be in. Torn between being there for your kid and your own future happiness. It's not often enough you see a father struggling like that on TV. Hard to see!
P.S. Aside from being in terribly bad taste, those jokes bout Miranda were just plain terrible. Who tf is writing this shit?
I don't like this episode at all. Why do they not stick to two or three main solid story lines instead of atomizing the script?
The gay story: Horrible. I still like both guys. But what could have been a serious and perhaps interesting story (especially for us straight guys) is just not treated serious and interesting enough. I was often unsure whether SATC deserved kudos for showing gay life in a time when they were too often overlooked in mainstream media or whether SATC perpetuated stereotypes against gay men. It's sad to realize that AJLT still has the tendency to do the latter. I mean what was the writers' room thinking? Something like that I presume: "They are gay. Thus they must be hot and have sex. One must have a sexy accent and his dick must as big as Dirk Diggler's dick. What's the interesting and perhaps slightly provocative part of gay life that we can discuss in this show and which would appeal to a wider audience since even straight guys know that's a "gay thing"? Oh yeah, sure, the fact, that they have anal sex and who's top and bottom. Giggle. Giggle..." (I'm also unsure how to think about Stanford's goodbye. It's great they added a "farewell" to the late Willie Garson. But the monk story they came up with is strange AF).
Seema's story: great. She's great. Her leopard print is great. Who else could wear this with dignity? It's a very small story and the drama seems to be totally artificially but at least it's entertaining. But it illustrates another problem of this show: There are one hundred people in the show. Thus her story got one minute and she had less than a dozen lines or so. That's it. Why would I care for such an underdeveloped character?
Lisa's story: Another missed opportunity. Late pregnancy, kids vs. career, safe sex, abortion, pregnancy loss: that was always a topic in the franchise. And these are great topics since they are relevant and need to be discussed in mainstream TV. And this show lacks relevant stories anyway. I guess most women can relate. Men can learn a thing or two and it's not like these are exclusively women's problems ..
Che: Go away! No more of this nonsense. Carrie: don't stay put and stare at your friend. Follow her outside. Comfort her. And don't invite Che to your party. Che is a horrible person. She's not even funny. One more of her stand-up performances and this show is officially dead.
The Goldenblatt family is still adorable. They are funny and entertaining. The dog is cute. Most Charlotte stories are totally inconsequential in this season but there's a residual serious core that could have deserved more screen time if treated more seriously. But bringing your spoiled kid a notebook to school isn't the way to treat issues that come with being a working mom seriously. What was Rock thinking? Who calls his or her mom anyway in such a situation? Rock is another totally made up fantasy figure. Such a person doesn't exist.
Aiden: give him a Grammy already. That's peak histrionics... :crying_cat_face: Every little bit of what I perhaps liked in the Aiden/Carrie story is ruined by this scene. The apartment story is fine though. The apartment is an element of nostalgia. It's great we'll have a proper farewell. The "last supper" title is perhaps a bit over the top given the actual religious background and Carrie certainly not becoming Jesus anytime soon (and the set designer not becoming Leonardo either), but interpreting this season's beautiful movie poster suddenly became interesting. [I know what will happen though: Corbett's contract was limited to four episodes. He won't leave his kids 'cause they are in trouble. Carrie won't leave NYC; presumably she will stay in her apartment anyway. Break-up. And this show can continue to be a show about Carrie being single most of the time].
I agree with everything @cutecruel said.
I have to add the terrible storyline they gave Stanford... omg... a monk... in Japan??? I feel second-hand embarrassment for the late Willie Garson :broken_heart:
This chapter takes time to develop but I like how it ends, the stories are much more grounded, I think the next episode will be a good season finale
What an interesting episode, I was fully engaged in and could completely relate with the stories of these beautiful, privileged, diverse women.
No, I'm joking. it's as bad as it gets this week again.
Having said that, as a gay man myself, I learned a lot from Anthony's anal retentive struggle about opening my mind to things I think are for women only.
No, seriously, that was seriously more awful than anything else in this episode and so poorly written.
