I never liked the character of Mr. Poirot. His fastidiousness runs very much counter to my own proclivities, and I find it annoying and contemptuous. But I finally decided to give him a chance, after I learned that the character of Mr. Poirot is a Catholic man who takes his faith seriously. And such is difficult to find in fiction these days: an honest portrayal of a faithful man.
