Utterly cliche, completely ridiculous, yet very compelling all the same. I've seen this two or three times now and each time I find I'm grinning in spite of myself. Jim Carey is probably one of the only amusing American comedy actors there is, and while it's not Liar, Liar, it's still quite funny. Also, Rhys Darby as Norman really makes the movie just that little bit better. He's hilarious.
My rating is 7.5
A story of Carl Allen. After getting a divorce, he always says ‘no’ to everything. “Do you want to see a film?” No. “Do you want to join me at the pub?” No. “Do you want...” NO MEANS NO!
Carl will soon learn the consequences of being Mr Negative in life, as he gets invited to a seminar that could change his life.
If he allows it that is
If only people would say 'Yes' to life... !
Saying yes simply allows life to have more possibilities, but whether or not to say yes depends on oneself. When you don't have an answer in your heart, you need to say yes more and try more. When you have an answer in your heart, you just need to follow what you think.
I watched this movie close after its premiere date and I think I must have watched it about seven times throughout the years. I recently re-watched it when they added it on Netflix. This movie stays funny. It's always been one of my favorite Jim Carrey movies but let's be honest, the best best best thing about this movie is Norman (a.k.a. Norm!)
There are a lot of fun moment in this movie and it holds a pretty basic boy meets girl plot too. It's just an enjoyable movie!
Although it's a predictable and some kind of ridiculous in many parts i found this movie entertaining and somehow motivational.I reccomend this for fun 7.0/10
Yes, for me. It's funny and entertaining. Nice story.
Ordinary and annoying. The only thing I really liked was the Harry Potter themed party, since I can relate.
Great movie !
I Simply love Jim Carrey movie, and on this one he is at his best.
Simply a feel good movie, with lots of laughs!
what are y'all talking about? I fkin love this movie. can't remember how many times I must've watched it.
Really funny and inspiring movie.
Jim Carrey never disappoints.Say it a million times!:fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::thumbsup:
Changes me. Can relate to it now
As with so many other romantic comedies, the blueprint has been set. In this movie you have Jim Carrey doing his best Jim Carrey and you introduce an angle (always saying yes) and a conflict (always saying yes isn't always a good thing). The script follows the plan well enough and the movie is.... fine. Nothing more, nothing less.

Although the storyline consistently feels arbitrary, and the fact that Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel have zero on-screen chemistry, it’s all entertaining enough for an enjoyable watch.
The story was just great the first 30 minutes or so, then Jim Carry started his weird faces but those silly moves just don't fit in this movie (more serious than average Jim Carry's silly comedy). Also, the two main character just don't have chemistry for a romantic relationship.
This song is incredible
Yes Man is a decent romantic comedy. As everyone mentioned, Jim Carrey plays the same character each time, the humor is dated, and the plot is essentially a remake of Liar Liar, but I fairly enjoyed it nevertheless. Its structure is highly predictable: Carl is an asshole until some weird event changes him for the better. His life gets great until the side-effects start showing up, but then the moral kicks in and everything is resolved for the best. I didn't mind the fact that they rehashed this formula, as it was pretty clear from prior to watching the movie, but I wished they could at least apply it decently. The first half goes as expected, but the troubles and final resolution are way too sketched and rushed. Some FBI dudes came out of nowhere and had no realistic reasons to detain Carl or be interested in his doings anyway. It just happened because they couldn't think of more convincing or realistic consequences to his behavior. And a simple talk with Terence was enough to resolve everything: sure you gotta be open to everything to enjoy life, but be moderated. ???? Carl was fixated with the covenant but didn't bother reading the book? Sure it's a silly comedy but still, nothing in the second half made sense.
To the people that I talked to who've seen "Yes Man" have said the same thing. "It's not Carry's best movie", and I do agree that it's not on the same level as "The Mask", "Dumb and Dumber" or the brilliant masterpiece that is "Eternal Sunshine", but I honestly don't think it's has bad as some people are pointing it out to be.
A good and funny movie to spend one and half an hour.
Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel star in the wild romantic comedy Yes Man. After going through a bad break up Carl Allen becomes withdrawn and antisocial until he goes to a self-help seminar and enters a program that requires him to say “yes” to any opportunity that presents itself. Both Carrey and Deschanel give solid performances and have good chemistry together. And they’re backed by a strong supporting cast that includes Bradley Cooper, Terence Stamp, and Sasha Alexander. Also, the comedy is fairly well done, creating some rather zany adventures for Carl to get into (though there are a few bits of vulgar sexual humor). Additionally, the soundtrack helps to set a lighthearted tone and features Zooey Deschanel in several songs. It’s not without its problems, but Yes Man is a fun lark with a positive message about seizing the day.
I watched this when it came out, and only just got around to watching it again, and I can tell you that it was better the second time around, and really has that Yes factor, less on the no factor to it, and really speaks the truth. A good film!
This movie was surprisingly good. Just enjoyable and solid.

It may not be his best film but no film with Jim Carrey in is a bad film. I really enjoyed it. A guy who says no to everything decides to lead a more upbeat and positive life by saying Yes to everything.... Literally EVERYTHING. It changes his life positively for a while but as with anything done by extreme, it doesn't work out. It's good to have a bit of Yes and No in your life. I would say Yes to this film.
