This movie is really very amusing from beginning to end and reminds me a bit of "Prada" in terms of style. Marisa has always been a great actress, but Camila surprised me very pleasantly! A clear recommendation for anyone looking for nice entertainment. Top!
Why do these movies always have to be based on some big lie that’s going to ruin everything in the end? I literally hate that so much.
Also, was it just me or did Will’s mother seem more in love with Ana than William himself? Their relationship really wasn’t particularly romantic or loving, and he genuinely didn’t seem to care about her that much… I’m really not sure why or how he got over his justified anger and annoyance over her using him, since there wasn’t that much depth between them to fall back on. I just feel like it should have stayed as a holiday fling, and that him coming back to her 6 months later was pretty random and unrealistic.
Lastly, I’m not sure why I was supposed to be rooting for Ana to get a job promotion… She didn’t do anything special that would make her stand out from the rest and her big fat lie honestly should have gotten her fired. She didn’t really deserve all the luck that she got handed to her in the end.
Her boss Claire, on the other hand, was pretty awesome and iconic. She was probably my favourite character in the whole movie, and I really don’t know why she took such a liking to Ana.
it was fun despite the plot had nothing new or special, but i didn't feel the chemistry between the leads it wasn't a nice choice putting them together imo.
An okay movie that'd have been more enjoyable if it wasn't so tropy. As it is, the cliché lies that last the whole movie made me cringe for the better part of an hour and a half, which is not what I was going for here.
Thank you Archie Renaux for being cute, Marisa Tomei for being awesome, and both for distracting me from the plot.
Movie should have ended at her being fired. Move along, enlist in the Navy and regret your lies for the rest of your life now please.
Also, can't you wait a couple minutes for the man to stop coaching ? He said it's the final fcking minutes.
Also also, who knows why hot Archie Renaux decided to come back at the end ? That's an Archie ex machina, out of thin air magical happy ending for you.

It's standard fare, all of these romcoms are. But you can do standard fare well or you can do a poor job of it, and Upgraded is a surprisingly decent romantic comedy (though very light on the comedy) that sees the protagonist hop from America to London.
As someone who has just got back from London, it would have been great to see a bit more of London. The confusion on the transition from America to the UK is always fun, if not a bit stereotypical. The problems with this rom com are that despite her situation in life, everything seems to fall the way of the lead. The upgrade, the man sitting next to her, the people she meets, the influence she has over them. So it's hard to buy into her struggle. Also not sure how much connection there is between the two leads, I found Archie Renaux to be a bore. He needed more oomph to him instead of just being the nice guy.
This isn't a bad way to spend 90 minutes. It's an easy watch and there are far worse romcoms out there.
The plot was based on a completely stupid lie, which any human would correct in two minutes. There was no chemistry between the leads. In general, the whole plot was simply not there.
Well yeah she lied and used basically anyone to get a job in a shitty cutthroat business, that’s it. And how disrespectful can you be not even having the decency to wait 5 minutes for a clearly important game to end? This was just annoying.
Predictable but a funnier movie than I expected.
camila mendes <333 i really liked her performance. even though i didnt like how the film end, I believe it's worth watching if you want to laugh a little. (warning: it can be cringe sometimes)
This movie won't be considered a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination. It is light and airy and dare I say "good enough" to be considered a worthwhile 90 minutes. It was actually refreshing to see two leads who don't look like models and have a bit of chemistry.

At a time where all rom-coms are now pretty bland and ridden with wokeness that the real story has no room to be breath, this was quite decent.
The only issue was the lead male actor being a poor casting. No chemistry. But otherwise the cast were very good and they delivered the humour well.
The plot is well-trodden. Devil Meets Prada with a Maid In Manhattan vibe, I suppose you vould say.
But the brother-in-law/sister duo were very good and the lead female carries the film really well. Maria Tomei is a class act.
Quite enjoyed it.
Firstly I would like to point out that I really like the film "The Devil Wears Prada" it is one of my favorite Anne Hathaway films and this one had some very similar points like the main character Ana played by Camila Mendes, another one that I really like, who like Andy in “The Devil Wears Prada” he has problems in his personal life and seeks to impress his boss to grow in his career. So I think it was because they were very similar that I liked the film.
It was a good movie in a "generic rom com" kind of way. It wasn't cliche enough to make it so I would rather watch something else, but also wasn't unique enough to make me recommend this one when my wife wants to watch a rom com in the future.
Rating: 2.5/5 - 70% - Worth Watching
I love me some Archie Renaux and Marisa Tomei
I don't care what people says about this movie as for me i loved it incredibly, y'all should stop acting as professional mouvie watchers and judging everything negatively because i ain't sure y'all can write or direct one
Ps: i recommend this film
A much nicer version of The Devil Wears Prada. Also, Ana is such a freeloader but she's likable enough so I guess good for her for getting everything she wants in life.:champagne_glass:
I enjoyed this movie. I like the raw jokes also.
