The Conference 2023

Like a professional conference: you don't really care about the attendees, you just kind of sit there and watch them go through the agenda point by point.

This well-produced gore doesn't do enough to distinguish it from all the other corporate comedy horror (Mayhem, The Belko Experiment, Severance, Office Uprising) that's already out there.

Friday the 13th: Coworkers Edition

A very standard by the book slasher but I appreciate the cinematography here, they actually tried (and i'd say succeeded) it feels energetic and entertaining. The camerawork tries a lot of different stuff, the locations aren't spectacular or anything but it looks great, good mix of music, the character interactions are hectic, the POV changes are satisfying and above all some creative transition between scenes. It's a shame that we get a lot less of that in the second half though.

It also succeeds in slasher standards: suspenceful chase sequences, lots of satisfying bloody kills, self-aware camp, the comedy mostly works, the killer is a badass and it delivers on the thrills. For a slasher, the characters are pretty good. I love it when characters fight back and the killer isn't an unmovable object like Michael Myers, which happens more than once here. Screaming redhead lady might just be my favorite moment. Lots of fun. What a surprise from Netflix!

I was just giving this 2 stars as a stunning effects shot made us go "eww"

it's a teens version of Friday the 13th.

lacks tension.

#TheConference on Netflix was a violent and amusing dunk on capitalism, a fresh slasher that I wish had a tighter runtime and a meaner script, but still made me laugh out loud more than once. plus some of the transitions are chef's kiss and nadja is an icon btw

It's like watching porn, but gore. You're not there for the plot and a lot of things don't make sense but the killing and the blood - everything that makes a slasher a slasher, they're pretty okay.

Would never recommend it to anybody I like though.

I anticipated a thrilling Euro campground slasher, but it turned out to be quite dull. The slashing scenes were the only redeeming factor. If you're into mindless gore without a compelling storyline, this might be your thing. Some compared it to a new Friday the 13th, but it fell far short. My expectations were high, but unfortunately, it left me disappointed. ‍♂

Probably one of the worst horror films I’ve watched in the last decade. Boring, bland storyline with laughable acting and an annoying cast… don’t waste your time.

I don't usually watch anything in the horror department - but since I'm a big fan of Mats Strandberg AND have a history working with conferences while in the hotel business I kind of had to watch this... and it is inventive enough and close enough to reality in the hospitality business to make it really entertaining (in spite of me being a bit squeamish when it comes to blood and guts)
...and let's be honest: we've all met the "throw anyone under the bus to get ahead" kind of consultant/entrepreneur who sort of deserves it.

Well, a very silly slasher/revenge movie. I can't recommend it.

Signed up for a Swedish slasher and wasn't too disappointed. Some disjointed elements and the script could have been better, but some decent cinematography and transition effects. Enjoyed the lovely b movie thrills for the most part although the middle does drag quite a bit. 5.5 I'll round up to a 6.
