Miller's Girl 2024

Great writing and cinematography, but if Jenna Ortega wasn't in this it wouldn't be watched.
Is it worth watching, once at most.

The cinematography of the movie was stunning, the visuals were breathtaking and really added a lot to the movie's overall experience.

The acting was also top-notch, the actors did a superb job and really brought their characters to life.

However, I found the pacing of the story to be slow and unengaging. While the plot had potential, it felt like the story wasn't fully fleshed out and many aspects of the characters and their motivations were left unexplored.

As a result, the movie ended up feeling somewhat incomplete and I was left waiting for a more meaningful conclusion.

Overall, while there were definitely some strong aspects of the movie, the pacing and underdeveloped story left me feeling a bit disappointed.

The acting is so good that it almost sells the story, like a magnifying glass over graveyard dirt.

The dialogue is Yale far, but sometimes too much and weird (had a laugh though).

The character dynamics are interesting, but eventually go into institutional ennui territory.

The clichés aren't suddenly consequential, but they're grand and tragic.

Despite all the selacious reveries and the
surreptitiousness of it all, the tumultuous effort of this cinematic effort; in vein.

I smile wide, the lines around my mouth deepen into parentheses as I frame a perfect punchline; "overreaching without ambition."

Like the Pope on masturbating: anti-climactic.

Two talented actors are stuck fleshing out a highschool student's fantasies, which are so trite even she got bored before the ending.

I enjoyed it enough! I liked the pretentious dialogue and thought it was fitting for the characters, the sets were gorgeous, and the whole scene where Martin Freeman drives to Jenna Ortega’s house in the rain while “Lover You Should’ve Come Over” plays was ethereal. The main things I didn’t like were how the character of Miller’s wife is truly awful from the start but there’s little indication he or anyone else has a problem with her behavior (I felt gaslit until the end when he finally calls her vile lol), how the coach friend acted like he was innocent and didn’t cross boundaries with Winnie despite the fact that he totally did, and the abruptness of the ending. I would’ve much preferred an ending with deeper moral reflection and clearer resolution.

What a disappointment. Or maybe It didn't hit because I'm an adult and not a 16 year old schoolgirl :skull:

Boring ending left alot of questions unanswered. 5/10 these movies are only watchable with a female actor that has high smv.

With all the aesthetic of an aspiring writer trapped on Tumblr circa 2012, Miller’s Girl is a gothic visualisation of a GoodReads girls wet dreams. The sexual pursuit of one’s strapping English teacher, as they and their prose ability remain unnoticed and undervalued. An overtly angsty and wordy affair about taboo subject matter that tries hard to ignite and excite but comes off immature and hysterical. It breaches the walls of power dynamics and social predisposition to large age differences in relationships, but then toothlessly recoils, saying nothing of merit or consequence. Poor really, but I can see this having a Jennifer’s Body-style cult resurgence in 5 - 10 years time when people view it for the unintentionally funny angst that it is.
