Haunted Mansion 2023

Very entertaining and eclectic bunch of characters, a fun line up for a very simple and fun movie. Loved that Danny DeVito was in the movie, just a fun watch.

Another very weak remake from Disney, with characters from their haunted ride. Along with the rest of their pathetic attempts in destroying their classics. When will they learn…..

An appropriate number for this movie, huh? I went into this with a great deal of reservations, but I came out having had a great time. I think Disney struck a better balance between the spooky and the funny here than they did with the 2003 version. Disney Parks fans are going to LOVE the details here. The score was delightful with the recurring attraction motif throughout. I think it’s an odd choice to release this one in July, but they did it with Hocus Pocus in 1993, and look at that now (though Hocus Pocus is arguably a better movie). This gets a thumbs up from me (but keep in mind, I am a HUGE Disney fan, so your mileage may vary).

A movie with an identity crisis. It doesn’t seem to know whether to be a comedy or a horror movie. I lost interest before it was half way through and never recovered. The rest of the movie was background noise while I did some other work. I wonder how long Disney will last as a profitable conglomerate at this rate of decay.

I really enjoyed watching this. I saw a lot of negative reviews about it on IMDb but I thought it was solid.

Disney make something new and good instead of rebooting, remaking, and ruining old movies challenge

loading replies

Maybe a little long, it doesn't go for comedy, drama or fear, but it's not bad.

loading replies

Surprisingly good. Is it the best movie? No. Is it the best Haunted Mansion movie? No. But it is entertaining.

Just go in knowing that it’s going to be just average and you’ll likely enjoy it.

loading replies

Why is this 2 hours long?! The director needed to make a lot of cuts!

This second Haunted Mansion movie has its moments but the talented cast aren't given the best material to work with.

Hits as a comedy with lighthearted spooky elements. Not scary but not quite kid friendly and mostly because it isn't entertaining enough to captivate. Something similar but better would be last year's The Curse of Hollow Bridge.

Except for some lines of dialogue from Tiffany Haddish, the comedy is incredibly flat. The emotions are crocodile tears and the acting is rough. The mystery never really hooked me. Tedious story. Bloated runtime doesn't help. I enjoyed the sets, the spooky atmosphere and it's always dark but there's always Halloween colors in the background (orange, purple, green). The CGI for the ghosts is fine, they go for a Casper-ish look so it doesn't need to look that good but anything else looks bad. They used CGI for too many things, including a cat walking around...

Why the fuck are there so many characters in this movie?

loading replies

Disappointing, weak, not creative... Is this how you celebrate 100 years of history, Disney? Not even the fun cast can help, which is where I gave most my points to. The kid was great though, he had some good acting.

loading replies

It's got some cool moments and the sets are pretty wild—definitely gives off those theme park vibes. Rosario Dawson and LaKeith Stanfield are in it, but honestly, they could've done more with the cast.

The jokes are hit or miss, and the romance part? Kinda meh. It's fun for a one-time watch if you're into a bit of comedy with your spooks, but don't expect it to stick with you for long.

The original film has always had a special place in my heart. Eddie Murphy provides nostalgia that this one cannot possibly match. With that being said, this one was pretty good. It was a fun romp, with a good cast, that younger generations will surely enjoy like I do the first!

Rating: 2.5/5 - 70% - Worth Watching

Boring. Uninteresting. A pure dis(ney)appointment.

I liked this movie better than the Eddie Murphy version. Much more lifelike humor and better CGI. It wasn't as scary as its predecessor, but that didn't bother me.

loading replies

I've almost completely forgotten watching it.

I think we smirked a few times. but that was mainly due to Danny Devito & Jamie Lee Curtis appearing.

loading replies

wooow what a great family movie. And i am not to old to watch it. so refreshing after Expendebles. Script could be better but its a classic for ne with a great crew.

loading replies

Not really sure who the target audience for this film is. Has a great cast minus Leto but it still fails to be much fun.

loading replies

This movie was terrible! Much of the movie was too dark to see. At first I through it was my TV, but I can see anything else just fine.

loading replies

I feel sorry for Jared Leto

loading replies

It was fine. It just had that Disney feel to it though, so really nothing too crazy happened.

loading replies

I hate to say this because I was SO looking forward to it… this movie was so boring and so forgettable.

I can’t even tell you the plot beyond they bought a mansion and it’s haunted.

So disappointing.

ıf you want to enjoy, you can watch this movie

Very good movie, good to see in family

So, I'm a huge fan of the original Haunted Mansion movie, and I was kinda nervous about this 2023 version. But guess what? It totally exceeded my expectations! It was a fun ride that tied into the theme park attraction nicely. Still, in my book, nothing beats the sheer fun of the original, but this one's worth a spooky watch! :ghost::european_castle:

So I've never been fond of any of the Haunted Mansion movies, but this one is adorable. A star studded comic cast makes it wonderful. The graphics are really very good. The storyline is somewhat predictable, but it is technically a kids' movie, pre-teen, teen.

Someone mentioned it's too long. I disagree but depends on how much of a kids' movie you can stand probably.

It was better than 80% of the kids stuff out there. Probably be a "cult classic" for Halloween. so 8 out of 10.

Just a fantastic movie. Loads of humor, lots of heart. The ensemble cast is fantastic. There are even some cameos - one in particular that made my little goth heart flutter.
The story itself is very simple: this is a classic haunted-house tale. What makes it worth several watches is the fast pace, and the amazing characters. I am absolutely going to revisit this every October.
For anyone who loves the Hocus Pocus movies or Goosebumps, this is going to be for you.
Just really blown away by how well this was made.

Funny. Creepy. Lots of great nods to the theme park attraction(s). Good performances all around. And they even found a clever way of getting around the whole "why don't they just LEAVE?" problem that a lot of haunted house movies suffer from.

I liked this.

Ok movie , not great but not dreadful either , Tiffany Hadish is the worst. Harriet should have been a great standout charter but her lifeless performance is distracting.. the music was the best part

tried first 30 min... turned off just all over the place omg can't connect to any characters because of bouncing, 4k filmed again just can deal with no vibrant color with crappy story writing. good on you if u like it, I couldn't and glad I stopped eating my time

Considering this was a PG-13 movie made by Walt Disney, it was a pretty fun movie for what it was. Great movie to play in the background for Halloween parties, or just to play as a family friendly Halloween type movie for that time of the season. Other than that, this movie is definitely not meant for any hardcore fans of horror.

:heart:x7
This is a whole lot better than the "The Haunted Mansion (2003)" version.
It is also a lot less kid-friendly than your standard Disney affair imo. And still, there is a lot of Disney humor in this movie. Also, if you've ever visited the Haunted Mansion at Disney World you will enjoy seeing the locations and special effects of the house represented here.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

"The Haunted Mansion" (2023) left me with mixed feelings. Tiffany Haddish's performance was a highlight, bringing humor and charisma to the film. Rosario Dawson faded into the background. The CGI was impressive, but it felt disconnected due to the lack of a cohesive story. This movie might have fared better as a TV show where plot development could shine. Comparatively, "Jungle Cruise" surpassed it, proving that being based on a theme park ride isn't a guarantee of success. Disney, known for its magic, fell short this time, and it's disappointing to witness such a missed opportunity.

Just another gem remake by Disney, except this one is a different story and atmosphere than the original. This Haunted Mansion seems to be modeled after the ride as there are many remarks and references to the ride and the story revolves around it. The story follows the path of several different people who come into each other's lives all because of a woman and her son are desperately trying to rid their newly purchased home of a dark past and ghosts. The plot development is very well done as the background of each character is introduced well and not dwelled on as the meat of the story about the spookiness of the mansion grabs the audience right away. The casting is great (but maybe overdone) and the special affects as well. Yes it has a horror type vibe but PG rated with a dab of ironic humor.

Meh. This was like a Scooby-Doo episode.

Worst movie of 2023 so far.

loading replies

Really enjoyed this one. It is definately different than the last one. This one goes down a bit of a scarier path without actually being scary if that makes sense. I could see some little ones jumping during a few parts.

The cast was great. There were some funny bits throughout the film and the story kept me wanting more. Overally it was a great movie.

The 3rd time is close to the charm for a Haunted Mansion movie. The movie isn’t too well structured. It also tries way harder to be funny than it does being scary.
I enjoyed all the Haunted Mansion movies “counting the Muppets one” but none are close to as good as the first Pirates of the Caribbean. They are also nothing that will stick with you for days.
The best thing about the movie is that the cast gives it their best throughout. Although Jennifer Tilly was better cast as Madame Leota than Jamie Lee Curtis was in this film.

Another one waiting to see
