Well, one of the better new Christmas movies I have seen in a while I have to say. Basically it’s typical Eddie Murphy meets Jumanji with a huge bath of Christmas sprinkles emptied over it. Also stick around for the end credits for bonus scenes.
It's a cute little Christmas movie and quite fun.
Is Eddie bald and trying to cover it up with a bad spray paint job?
Candy Cane Lame is a better title for this turkey.
Urgh, this really sucked. More so than those generic hallmark movies, cause it tried to be something more. Jillian Bell is a mixed bag for me and she definitely was not in form here. First act is okay (though it feels like an hour of content), but it drops really quick. The 2nd and 3rd act are borderline unbearable. Why can't they just make decent Christmas films anymore?
Good till I saw Santa "Roll Up" come on now I get it mainly black related movie but ya didn't have to go that far with it
For better or worse, this movie is exactly what you think it is. It's a shame that such a fine cast (especially the secondary actors) are wasted on something like this. I actually felt sorry for Jillian Bell.

Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross are reliably entertaining but for a comedy I found it rather light on laughs and over long.
Mediocre movie, soms nice jokes but the ending had stop plot holes unattended. And what about the after movie credits of 20 minutes
Pretty funny at times, but the ending kind of fell a little flat for me. Still a good Christmas watch.
It went balls out with the premise; after a slow start it was a wild, fun ride
This was nice and fun. It’s good to watch with family and just a typical Christmas film with good graphics tho
I didn't actually mind 'Candy Cane Lane', but I can't exactly say it's a good movie though.
Many positives I do not have for this 2023 release, a perfect word for it all really is simply: meh. Eddie Murphy is fine (if nowhere near top form), his onscreen family are alright, the comedy is average, the Xmas vibes are OK, the concept is solid enough. It just doesn't excite. The 2hr run time is damaging, this is a 90 minute story all day long.
The bits with the animated miniature characters are this film's best moments, but even then that feature isn't utilised the best - Nick Offerman feels wasted in his role there, likewise with David Alan Grier near the end to be honest. Timothy Simons and Danielle Pinnock as Emerson & Kit are satisfactory in relatively small parts, even if they do feel like a knock-off version of Cotton & Pepper... iykyk.
A snappier length and a more energetically told/acted story and I'd have enjoyed this, without that it is sadly quite lacklustre.
Pretty crappy and boring . And what was up with all that bright light flare ?! Who directed this JJ Abrahams . Skip it !!
It was ok. I laughed a couple times, which is a lot to say for comedy movies (i know, kinda an oximoron, but it is what it is). The black santa was mild funny, the plot was meh, the sub-plots not developed enough. Not even in the top 15 Eddie Murphy movies, but good enough to watch while dinning. A middle of the road for me

Honestly, I did not expect a whole lot from this movie. Eddie Murphy hasn't been that watchable in quite some time (that could just be me though). However, this movie turned out to be pretty funny.
Madison Thomas (Holly), kind of stole most of the scenes she was in.
Overall, this is a worthwhile, entertaining Christmas movie.
