Ant-Man and the Wasp 2018

Ant-Man and the Wasp is like a private school senior: neither as funny nor as exciting nor as interesting as it thinks it is.

An easy to watch, lighthearted, very entertaining break from the recent downbeat Marvel movies. 7.5/10

Bugtastic! So much bigger and smaller than the first with more comedy, specially from (luis) and lots of great action and cool effects. (Paul Rudd) was defiantly born for the role and watch the post credit scene, It explains a lot XD

loading replies

I was down with this movie until the mid credits scene. That just ruined the entire thing for me. Meh

loading replies

It was after watching 'Ant-Man' (2015) without seeing any trailer or information about the movie, and having a great GREAT time that I started doing the same with all the posteriors Marvel's movies. It improved my watching experience a ton.

Again, 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' surprised me with how smart it can be (and Laurence Fishburne! What a good surprise! I adore him!) while being heavy with the comedy. Every character was it's cheek.. hard not to laugh every five minutes! My first watch was dubbed in Brazilian Portuguese and the quality of it is, as always, wonderful!

A highly re-watchable flick, good to watch with family and friends, with fun and good action, with great fight scenes.. and THAT post-credits scene... it killed me. Woohoho I loved that.. got me thinking, sweating and biting my nails for the next Marvel's movies like crazy!

(And I don't want to be that person, but even with second-line heroes Marvel's does WONDERFULLY. DC I'm so sorry.. but as things are, you have no chance of being even 1/3 of what MCU is. I am sorry.)

loading replies

Few sequels live up to their first films but i feel this one does. I'm not saying it's blowing the original out of the water but you'll walk away as happy as you did if you enjoyed the original. I can't wait until (hopefully) the third Ant-Man is released down the line. The backbone of the MCU, the pallet cleanser needed between the world changing events.

loading replies

Well... I'll just say that Paul Rudd surely knows how to channel his inner Michelle Pfeiffer.

loading replies

This was a really fun and entertaining movie with great characters, but that post credits scene hurt, bro.

loading replies

Seems that while some of the Marvel stuff is drifting more towards silly comedy others, like this, stay more on course. If that is the case that would be fine by me.
Really liked this one. Had everything I'm looking for in a Marvel movie. And it was refreshing that for once it was more of a personal story rather than having the whole fate of the galaxy being at stake.

loading replies

Some people have been a little bit antsy about this movie, complaining that it falls short compared to some of Marvel's other offerings. And yes, after the dramatic finger clicking of the last Avengers movie, this is a much lighter affair, but I feel we needed it. This is a fun, slick movie, expertly made, despite the smaller scale. Marvel hits the spot time and again, something DC has failed to replicate. Even with their 'lesser' offerings, there is much to enjoy within. Not a classic, but for entertainment value, I had a good time.

loading replies

Would be another dime-a-dozen Marvel movie, but what separates this is the characters, which are great. And Michael Peña's lip-syncing just about makes it worth the price of admission on its own.

loading replies

The dumbest part of this movie. Its been years that mom is missing. Then they figure out how to get her and just by some amazing chance they only have a few hours to get her or they lose the ability for 100 years..... yeahhhhhh no. Dumb.

Why did they need the special tunnel and ship to get the mom when paul rudd went there and back without it in the first one?????

Funny movie besides that.

I can't be the only one to notice the building rolling all around all over the place, being thrown and what not, yet every time it goes big, every thing is all in its place. Amazing!

loading replies

Hope and Hank ain't very nice to Scott, he deserves some respect lol

Fun and action-packed film

loading replies

This is a very entertaining sequel. Rudd and Lilly make a great pair. There's a lot of danger for all the characters, but on a smaller scale (no pun intended). It's very funny, like most of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, but this has a big heart and is something you can watch with the young lings.

The imagination during the action scenes is really well done. It's exciting stuff with the sinister edges sanded down a bit. The Ant-Man films are a really welcome change of pace in the MCU.

loading replies

I really liked this film. It was a good sequel and I really liked the plot. The movie maintained its comedy and light heartedness from the first film which I was really happy about. The ant-man movie are probably one of my favourite films out of all the marvel movies I've watched so far because it's concept is so cool to me. I have finished 6/8 movie on my marvel movie binge and next up is infinity war Bois. I finished this one at 5:00PM and had a good time watching it.

loading replies

This is a fun sequel to the first film and a nice palate cleanser after Infinity War. Everyone is good with Lilly, Pena, and Pfeiffer (even though she doesn't get as much screen time as I hoped) standing out. The action scenes are fun, the comedy works most of the time. Laurence Fishburne and Michael Douglas are screen together is really good. It sets up Ant-Man story well for Endgame.

loading replies

This is just... meh.
Disneyfied action.

EXCEPT for the ending! Which was a jaw dropper.

loading replies

This is either a pretty cleaver comedy or a pretty dumb action film. Either way it’s a perfectly serviceable marvel movie.

The biggest positive for this film is just how perfectly cast Paul Rudd is as Scott Lang, his signature fast paced one liner sense of humour really comes through making this quite a bit funnier than the first instalment.

Reed was also able to work more of his own vision and so it never feels like he was standing in Edgar Wright’s shadow also an improvement on the original.

A handful of creative uses of the shirking concept make for some really great action sequences but really some cool action and few decent jokes is all this movie has. It’s not particularly memorable and won’t be anyone’s favourite MCU film but it’s enjoyable.

The villains are predictably weak and frankly bring the film to a halt anytime Rudd or Peña aren’t sharing screen time with them but they don’t effect the overall quality too much.

I don’t have a lot to say about this film, what can I say really? It’s fun, it’s creative, it’s worth buying on blu-ray.

loading replies

The acting and the cinematography are fine but there's no sense of urgency at all in the movie. The stakes have never been lower.

loading replies

Fun superhero family film. Definitely a good follow up to the original. Really solid villain, one of the strongest so far in the MCU.

loading replies

IMO it was better than the first part.Ant-man was dumb and funny just like in the cartoons and I loved Luis. The best part was that instead of turning Ghost into a villain they made her Ant-man's friend

Ant Man and The Wasp

Lilly takes the reins in this film and it's the strongest aspect of this film.
The action scenes are interesting with the dynamics of size.
Individual parts were good, however the overall plot and antagonists weren't very compelling.

I came into this movie with low expectations (the trailer seemed cheesy), but also having been up to date on the MCU universe. I can easily say this was more enjoyable and contained more substance than it's predecessor. The character development was better all around, and yet they also packed more comedy in.

Also that mid-crrdit scene :|

loading replies

Scott Lang, Hope, and Dr Pym picked up right after the Secovia Accords. And the rollercoaster starts from there, with Paul Rudd playing Antman perfectly jumping into the story trying to patch his life together after fighting the Avengers & Captain America.

Best part is that this movie is all fun and action with a back story of Pym and Lang thrown in. You enjoy the ride and of course this has absolutely no tie in with the Avnegers except for one important moment, and advise you to watch past the credits.

Fun, Action Packed, Great Story and just a Great Marvel Movie, for any Marvel fan this is a blast, and anyone else will just enjoy it.

I gave it a 6 because it made me laugh. But that's it. The character of Ava Starr serves no point in the plot. She does absolutely nothing! You can remove her from the movie and it keeps the same.

I feel this film is overrated. Come on, currently it has a better mark on Trakt than for instance The Last Jedi!!

loading replies

I saw this movie in an early screening and I must say it was one of, if not the best movie marvel has ever made.

loading replies

My wife and I just watched this and it has to be the worst Marvel release to date. I am not one who hates on what is being done with the MCU but each movie or TV show keeps taking a step down and back. The writing was not good, the visuals were straight out of a childrens TV show. I wish I could say something good but I can't.

Bottom line. Skip this one.

loading replies

For those who frowned watching this, you are not alone. It is overrated to a point I've kind of lost faith in moviegoers today. This movie's got it's charms, some laughs, but the story just very basic, find that part get that suit, space travel and a magical old lady just comes out of another dimension and solves all the problems? you can get 30 storylines just like that using the online movie plot generator.
non of the quantum things make any sense, and they weren't even trying to have them make least any sense, as if moviemakers have this idea in mind that moviegoers nowadays will chow down whatever marvel movie thrown at them gladly, good cleaver story is nothing more than icing on their CGI cake. In short this movie is corny and unremarkable, but let's face it, you will go see it anyways.

Wow. After all the emotional devastation of Infinity War this is exactly what I needed. It felt rewarding to see Marvel fans smiling so hard and laughing out loud during a Marvel movie as opposed to seeing the faces of completely defeated theatergoers. The hilarious running jokes and touching serious moments are handed very well, the character relationships and interactions are wonderful, the action scenes are a blast, and the shrinking and growing effects...i fucking loved that shit. I had a lot of fun with this one. Also, is it just me or this could all have been avoided if the "villains" had just asked Dr. Pym nicely for help???

Ahh, who cares, I had a blast. I can't wait to see Ant-Man (Scott) and The Wast (Hope) on another MCU film!

It's a fun lighthearted Marvel movie. There are some jokes and some cool action. I think Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly work great together. Michael Pena has some great scenes. Judy Greer and Bobby Cannavale are wasted. Randall Park is a nice addition while Laurence Fishburne and Walton Goggins were just ok. Hannah John-Kamen's Ghost is a decent villain. Way better than some early MCU villains but a big step down from Thanos and Killmonger. It's a good time but nothing serious.

After the second watch I really love the father daughter stuff. Randall Park still stands out and Luis and his crew are great too. I hope to see a lot more of them. This is still really funny and a lot of that has to do with Paul Rudd's delivery and charisma.

I held off on watching this movie because I thought it would suck, but I was wrong. I really enjoyed it. My favorite character was Luis. He was hilarious. I hope to see him in future sequels.

loading replies

This film was much better than the first, I felt it had a better storyline and a more interesting concept.

loading replies

This was a decent movie with plenty going on. Unfortunately, it wasn't as engaging as the first movie but that does make it fairly easy watching. The timeline in the MCU is not clearly explained until the first after credits scene - so that's worth waiting for. Worth watching, but don't expect it to live up to infinity war. Regardless; Evangeline and Hannah are quite hot too, so there's always that!

This was a movie that I watched. It had a story where things happened. Actors and actresses said things, and felt emotions. Aside from that, pretty unmemorable.

Disney wonders why audiences aren't enthralled by superhero movies anymore. This is why. It's just a cash grab.

loading replies

Its a really well displayed concept but I just find it boring. I find it fascinating don't get me wrong but why does it feel so draggy.

loading replies

More of an emphasis on wholesome family stuff and less boring melodrama made the movie better than the original imo. Sadly the villains suck and Luis is still NOT funny.

loading replies

I haven’t seem them all but I think it was the worst so far from Marvel.
Totally childish , b movie action and characters with script take out from the 80s from a bad black and white movie with huge creatures.
If this was now I would speculate that was written by AI as a 10 year old.

Literally only worth watching for the post credit scene.

To me this was actually one of the better Marvel movies. I liked that there were several antagonistic parties involved who all had relatable or understandable motivations. Which weren't even aligned in the sense that everyone was after the same MacGuffin but rather interwoven in some way or another.
I especially liked the character of Laurence Fishburne.
In the end the movie was a bit too much of a happy end for me and greatly lacked in suspense or any real thread or dread.

THIS MOVIE IS FAR FAR BETTER THAN
THE FIRST ONE, EVERYONE SEEMS MORE RELAXED AND HAVING A DAMN GOOD TIME, SCOTT AND CASSIE ARE JUST AMAZING TOGETHER AND ARE SOME OF THE BEST SCENES IN THE MOVIE.
THE PACING IS MUCH BETTER AND NOT ONCE FEELS LIKE IT DRAGS. THE JOKES ARE WAY FUNNIER THE ACTION IS MUCH BETTER AND THE GHOST IS DEFINITELY BETTER THAN STUPID YELLOW JACKET FROM THE 1st MOVIE. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE
GHOST AGAIN IN THE UP AND COMING
"THUNDERBOLTS" MOVIE,
SHE'S FRICKIN AWESOME.
WHICH EVER WAY YOU LOOK AT IT THIS IS A FAR SUPERIOR MOVIE IN EVERY ASPECT.
A VERY STRONG ENTRY INTO THE MCU.

Not as fresh as the first "Ant-Man" movie, but still a quite enjoyable summer superhero flick. The main plot is more complex and tries to involve more characters this time, but in the end, Ant-Man is all about enjoying the dynamics created by the characters shrinking and growing as they fight.

loading replies

An entertaining sequel that lacks a good villain. Yellow Jacket was more memorable.

loading replies

Tremendous film! I don't know why it took me so long to finally watch it but I wish I had done so, sooner. Next level humour and performances! One of my favourite Avengers right now. Super excited for the sequel, hopefully in cinemas.

loading replies

definitely the funniest movie from the MCU, i got some good laughs out of this one! my only complaint is that i felt like they picked 2 extremely meh antagonists (ghost & burch), i think it would've been better if they only did one really good villain instead.

loading replies

A fine watch, but the novelty and freshness that the first film had has dissipated.

I enjoyed 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' just about enough. It's the MCU's weakest film, up until this point at least, so far. I rate the 2015 film quite a bit, it's entertaining and something different, but this sequel kinda felt flat to me for the majority. There's marginally enough there to like though.

Paul Rudd is satisfactory as the lead, while Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Michael Peña remain as solid as before. Michelle Pfeiffer and Laurence Fishburne are cool additions, but I can't say their characters are all that memorable - still passable, mind you.

The action is the film's biggest plus. The shrinking stuff always looks good, too. The humour is at a suitable level. Overall, it's an OK watch.

loading replies

charming and fun to watch just like the first one! the actress playing scott's daughter is such a delight, it makes movies a cut above the rest when they've got good kid actors rounding out a cast.

A very good movie, probably one of the best Marvel movies, for me it is on the 5th place in my favorite Marvel movies, the action is very good.
The story continues first, so only a new character appears in the story (not a spoiler).
Worth seeing from Marvel fans.

loading replies

Let me be honest, I did not like this movie when it came out but I loved it so much with my MCU rewatch as the humour and action in this film is so perfectly balanced in every way and this might be the third funniest MCU film. The entire cast is so great in this film with the chemistry between Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) and Evangeline Lilly (Wasp) is so perfect as you believe this can be a real couple with the back and forth.

The one downfall of this film is the villain, technically there isn't any but the two characters who are supposed to be Walton Goggins (Sonny Burch) and Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost) are actually really good but they are so underdeveloped, once again neither are actually villains though as the film is more about going to the quantum realm and partly I wish they focused on that more.

Otherwise, this is a really fun MCU film and I think it is super underrated as well.

Positives:
This was my first time being able to watch Ant Man and the Wasp and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The humor was very funny and I love seeing Paul Rudd on the big screen. I thought the Wasp character was very well done and the villain was top notch.

Negatives:
The movie was well done but I felt that the movie was kind of middle ground for MCU Movies. I didn't see it try anything really new and I was expecting something a little different from the first Ant Man film. I felt that if I was more invested in the Ant Man character then I would have enjoyed it more.

Overall:
This is a very good movie if you love MCU Movies. I would advise you watch Ant Man and the Wasp before Avengers: Endgame. I failed to do that and was a bit lost with what the character was doing in Avengers: Endgame.

loading replies

It's still good. Not the greatest, but still worth a watch. Fun esp. Luis! I thought I would never hear him blabber again! And even though I didn't understand the technical blah, I still tried to enjoy the movie.

Ant-Man and the Wasp fit right in with the latest generation of Marvel movies.

It's starting to feel repetitive writing reviews for the marvel movies because they're seemingly all very similar in quality, acting and theme.

Overall, worth the watch as part of the build up for Endgame, but not as useful as a standalone movie.

Meh.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is actually pretty good. Paul Rudd is allowed to fully explore his comedic talent making this a very watchable film however the script lacks any focus and it is ultimately difficult to stay invested in anything happening on screen. It’s a mixed bag but it’s pretty fun.

loading replies

This was...a Marvel movie. Nothing new, but nothing terrible. It's just sort of...there, much like the first one. I think the Ant-Man movies frustrate me due to the loose & inconsistent "rules" with the size changing. It's a superhero flick so I'll suspend disbelief, but when the key superpower seems to work however you need it whenever you need it to, I lose interest. The cast is good and the action scenes fun, but again it's a stock superhero film that doesn't touch on new ground.

loading replies

I LOVED this film, is just WOW.

loading replies

The first Ant Man is really a movie I love and could once quote probably every word so I was excited for this one and I enjoyed it a lot as well. Paul Rudd is great as Scott Lang as always humor is still great Evangeline Lilly is really good. I really enjoyed the constant shrinking and and things popping back up to normal size really made for some good action and funny scenes, villain could obviously be better but hey only it's a marvel movie and only a few mcu movies have good villains but still a very fun movie.

I enjoyed this movie, but I must admit that I kind of liked the first one better. The humor and the circumstances of the first one were better. This movie had almost too much going on. The house arrest, the quantum entrapment, the supernatural villain, the regular villain, the rescue. It was just a bit all over the place. The fighting was cool and Wasp was great but most of the best shots are already seen in the trailer! I still liked it but I admit I was a but disappointed.
